The winds in Beijing shifted dramatically, and the affairs of Beijing had never affected the Huo Family; they had always kept a distance from strife. Yet, this ti, they joined the fray themselves, proactively. The whole Beijing circle instantly beca fraught with tension, as if walking on thin ice amid intense heat.
"Mrs. Huo and Mrs. Jiang are best friends; I heard she’s even a fan of hers. I could never have dread that these two families would co to blows. Unbelievable," soone mused.
"Whoever loses, the impact is significant. The Liang Family really has so tricks up their sleeve."
"During the second master’s wedding, Huo himself even attended as a groomsman. How could they possibly have had a falling out all of a sudden?"
"It seems Huo isn’t in Beijing. There are no eternal friends in this world."
...
While everyone was discussing heatedly, the charity event hosted by the Liang Family was rapidly approaching.
Tang Wan had an appointnt that day at the Hospital to collect her genetic disease screening report and to et with her obstetrician. Before leaving, the Shen Family elders looked at her with words on the tip of their tongues but ultimately only reminded her to be careful and to return early.
"I’ll take good care of Wanwan; don’t worry," Jiang Jinsang reassured the elders.
After getting in the car, Tang Wan leaned back in her seat and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Grandpa and Grandma have both lost a lot of weight lately."
In fact, the atmosphere in the entire Jiang Family was off. The elders of the Shen Family felt it was because of Shen Shuci’s incident that the Jiang Family had developed a rift with the Huo Family.
But the Jiang Family felt that what had been almost a sure victory was sabotaged by a stab in the back from an old friend. Resentnt simred beneath the surface, rendering everyone uncomfortable.
"Auntie’s behavior has been odd, too. Wasn’t everything agreed upon with you? She keeps staring into space as if worried, and when we offer for her to stay with us, she doesn’t want to, preferring to go back on her own, which really worries everyone."
How could Shen Shuci not feel depressed? She could never have imagined that the one to erge and support the Liang Family would be soone from the Huo Family. Moreover, since that call from Huo Qinqi, there had been no further contact...
As an important witness, the police were also concerned for her safety, fearing she might face discomfort from the Liang Family or harassnt by the dia. They had specially assigned plainclothes officers to protect her, ensuring that no harm would co to her.
"Don’t worry too much; what would you like for lunch?" Jiang Jinsang forcefully changed the subject.
"I’m craving sothing sour..."
Jiang Jinsang glanced at her flat stomach. A craving for sour? Could it be a son? He rembered how he watched Jiangjiang grow from a baby into a little "Demon King." He was more eager for a daughter compared to a son.
Arriving at the Hospital, it turned out Zhou Zhongqing was not in his office that day but running a clinic. After retrieving the report and consulting the doctor, they decided to wait in his office. It wasn’t to invite him to lunch but for a different matter that required cooperation with the police investigation.
The police’s forensic team also needed to co to the Hospital, so they had arranged to et in Zhou Zhongqing’s office.
When they got to the office, Jiang Shiyi was there too, casually flipping through a dical journal. "You’ve arrived? Did the checkup results co out alright?"
"No issues for now, but as the months progress, we might need to screen for other things." Tang Wan looked around the office. "The police officers haven’t arrived yet? The Liang Family really never rests."
Jiang Shiyi just smiled.
...
Now that they had completely fallen out, the Liang Family didn’t care anymore. The more thorough the dispute, the better.
Many days after Liang Han was beaten up, he suddenly requested a dical examination. It was nothing but an attempt to accuse Jiang Jinsang of intruding in a private residence and causing intentional harm. They were willing to sling as much mud as possible. On that day, Jiang Shiyi had also taken physical action and was inevitably to be examined as well.
Soon there was a knock on the door. Two uniford officers entered, accompanied by a forensic team mber carrying a toolbox, apparently from the police forensic departnt. Two more people followed closely behind and gave Tang Wan a knowing smile.
"Didn’t expect to see you again."
"Mhm," she replied, her deer-like eyes bright and lively behind her mask.
"Sir, we need to collect your fingerprints," one of the officers addressed Jiang Jinsang.
Liang Han had been beaten by several people before, and even his own father had used a stick. A dical examination didn’t an much, as it was impossible to discern who caused which wounds. Besides, Jiang Jinsang was famously sickly. Could he really have left him disabled?
The Liang Family’s statents to the police painted Jiang Jinsang as a ruthless destroyer of anything in his path...
But now, as the forensic team asked him for his fingerprints, they noticed abrasions on his knuckles. "How did you get these injuries?"
"They were caused during my visit to the Liang residence," Jinsang did not hide the fact.
Everyone nodded, realizing this must be soone not accustod to fighting, or even clueless about how to do it properly, to have injured himself in the process.
"Do you rember specifically where you hit Liang Han during the confrontation?"
"I was too angry to see clearly," Jinsang regretted not being able to flay him alive, and couldn’t rember how many tis he struck or the exact spots.
"The Liang Family intends to sue you for intentional harm."
"Do you think, with my physique, even if no one had stopped , what harm could I have possibly done to him?"
At the ti, aside from two people alongside Jiang Jinsang, everyone present was from the Liang Family. They claid Jinsang, like a fierce spirit, burst in and kicked and punched Liang Han, exaggerating to the extre.
The people at the police station, most of them didn’t believe it!
Just a few months ago, he was lying on a sickbed, on the brink of death. He couldn’t have been so invigorated, as if he’d been injected with chicken blood, right?
"Could you help a mont with the third young master..." The forensic examiner suddenly turned to look at soone behind him.
The girl with doe eyes didn’t make a sound, instead, she walked up to Jiang Shiyi, "Fingerprinting, hold out your hand."
Cold and unemotional like a detection machine.
Jiang Shiyi was silent, extending his hand, allowing her to manipulate it.
It was just a collection of so fingerprints and samples; the whole process was very quick, and the office was very quiet until Jiang Shiyi said,
"I video called with the professor a few days ago, and he ntioned you. You should give him a call when you have ti."
Silence filled the room...
All eyes were focused on the two of them – the girl with the doe eyes simply humd indifferently.
Even her assistant was dumbfounded, clearly unaware that the two were long acquainted.
Jiang Jinsang sat on the side, observing them. Throughout the entire process, there wasn’t even an exchange of glances between them; they didn’t seem acquainted. Counting this ti, Jiang Shiyi had seen her at least three or four tis, and not once had they greeted each other...
Professor?
From the sa ntor?
It wasn’t until the police left that Jiang Shiyi looked towards the two people on one side with an extrely indifferent expression, "Shall we have lunch together at noon?"
Jiang Jinsang nodded, "Do you know her?"
Jiang Shiyi did not answer his question, "I heard from a colleague that there’s a good restaurant nearby, with a bit of a sweet taste, which my sister-in-law might like."
Without ntioning further, even if Jiang Jinsang and Tang Wan were curious, they did not ask more.
Jiang Shiyi was not like Jiang Chengsi, who indirectly probed and could always pry so information out. If he didn’t want to talk, his lips were hard to pry open.
Later, Jiang Jinsang even indirectly asked Jiang Chengsi, and Tang Wan was curious, "Did you find out anything from your conversation with the fourth brother?"
"Nothing at all. They’ve lived under the sa roof, and yet he knows nothing. Is there sothing missing in fourth brother’s brain?"
"Fourth brother has never been the particularly ticulous type", Tang Wan said with a smile.
In the not-too-distant future, he would realize that the phrase about having sothing missing in the brain...
Applied to him as well.

The charity event of the Liang Family took place at a venue in Lingnan that seed like soone had just held a wedding. Following that event, the rental prices for the venue shot up, making it not an easy task to rent.
Many others followed suit, thinking that having a wedding or hosting any kind of event there was extrely prestigious.
The Huo Family was coming to show their support, and the Liang Family knew that today’s charity event was extrely important for them. They were ready to offer the best of everything. It cost them a good deal of money and networking to secure the venue, not to ntion all the connections they had to utilize.
Due to the issue with Liang Han, the stocks of Liang Group had already plunged to historic lows, and the Liang Family had recently been having a rough ti.
That’s why so in the Beijing circle joked that for this whitewashing event, the Liang Family might have emptied their pockets.
The event began in the afternoon, but after a burst of gloomy winds in the morning, the skies cleared at noon, leaving the day bright and fair.
The event started punctually at one o’clock, but by twelve people were already arriving in droves. Being a charity event and outdoors, the Liang Family even went so far as to transport the orphans they sponsored from all over to Beijing, specifically inviting several dia outlets and arranging so interactive activities, so everyone dressed in simple, casual attire.
All the reception staff carried full smiles, skillfully shuttling among the invited guests.
The turnout was more than expected, including so uninvited guests who ca unbidden.
But at this ti, the Liang Family needed to forge good karma, so naturally, they didn’t turn anyone away!
And the Liangs themselves, they were surrounded like stars by a moon, encircled by a crowd of people, who were really there not for their sake, but out of consideration for the Huo Family.
Inquiring indirectly about the relationship between the two families.
Though the future was uncertain, everyone felt that a dramatic scene was inevitably going to unfold.
