Long Aixi had no idea that a contest revolving around him was unfolding next to him, as he was already considering the strategy needed for the snowball fight.
“How about this, to balance the strength among us and for the sake of fairness, let’s group those of similar physique together first, then pair them up and draw lots. Those who draw the long lot will go on that side, and those with the short lot will stay on this side,” he suggested.
As soon as Long Aixi finished speaking, several girls below started praying that they would be allocated to Long Aixi’s team. Zhou Xianzhi even clasped her hands together and silently hoped that the heavens would help her.
Whether by sheer coincidence or fate, Zhou Xianzhi truly did wind up in the same group as Long Aixi. She was extremely happy, quickly standing beside Long Aixi and taunting him with her eyes. However, as soon as the teams were divided, Long Aixi started setting up the area and rules, declaring that the team which got hit the most times would lose, and the losers would be responsible for catching fish the next day.
The snowball fight officially began. In Long Aixi’s group, the girls were tasked with rolling the snowballs and the boys with hitting others. As the battle menced, the scene heated up, with everyone utterly engrossed.
Lu Jianxi, Long San, and the gang leader, who had been warming up and chatting over tea inside the house, heard the lively noises outside and decided to e out as well.
Watching the children energetically playing below the corridor, the gang leader stroked his beard and said, “Ah, to be young is wonderful. You see these kids; just a fall of snow excites and delights them so much. Watching them play fills me with energy too.”
Lu Jianxi smiled and said, “Actually, gang leader, if you want to join in, the kids wouldn’t mind.”
“Haha, oh no, no,” laughed the gang leader. “This old body of mine won’t hold up, I’d probably end up hurting my back. But you guys should join them and play for a while.”
Long San smiled faintly, “No thanks, I’ve always been averse to the cold. Just standing out here in this snow is quite enough for me.”
Following his lead, Lu Jianxi said, “I’ll acpany Long San back inside shortly. It’s warmer there with the charcoal burning.”
The gang leader chuckled again, “Alright then, let the kids play freely. Speaking of which, ever since you’ve arrived, my island has bee much livelier, especially with Aixi around. Look at him, he’s not been here long, and he’s already like a little king; all the kids like him.”
Long San, watching his son play enthusiastically in the snow, wore a trace of pride, “Yes, wherever he goes, he’s always the king of the kids, a natural leader.”
“Haha, definitely a case of ’like father, like son.’ You are the gang leader of the most powerful clan, and with Jianxi being… Well, a child born from the two of you was bound to surpass his parents. I hope you stay on the island a little longer, making it even livelier,” said the old gang leader.
Long San looked at Lu Jianxi, and Lu Jianxi looked back at him, but ultimately, it was Lu Jianxi who spoke, “We probably can’t stay much longer. There’s a lot to attend to in the gang. It wasn’t easy to get away for these few months. If you have some free time, gang leader, you should e visit us down south. After all, getting a change of scenery from the northern ice and snow to see the lush flowers of the south would be great.”
“Haha, I’ll definitely make a trip when I have the time,” the gang leader replied.
The adults then turned and headed back inside.
