As soon as Long Aixi arrived, Lu Jianxi said, “You take Dabao for breakfast. Dad and Mom are busy these past few days, so you need to take good care of Dabao, understand?”
Naturally, Long Aixi was happy to ply. He smiled at Xia Dabao, “Dabao, e with me, let’s go eat at another table.”
Xia Dabao was reluctant, but Lu Jianxi was still watching, so she had to save face for Long Aixi if not for Lu Jianxi.
The two went to another round table that could seat ten people. According to usual practice, it was mostly the younger ones who sat at one table. After Long Aixi and Xia Dabao moved there, Chen Lingyun and the others also came over.
Chen Lingyun was about to sit down but suddenly someone cut in. Seeing it was Zhou Xianzhi, she was so angry she wanted to scold her, but remembering the fight the other day and considering there were many people around, she held back.

Chen Lingyun initially intended to sit next to Long Aixi. Now that Zhou Xianzhi had stepped in, she didn’t bother to pete and just went to sit with Mo Lu and Lin Caiyi on the other side, leaving a space in between.
Chen Lingyun and Zhou Xianzhi’s actions were plainly seen by Xia Dabao, but she kept to herself and focused on eating breakfast.
Breakfast was still the usual porridge, buns, and soy milk. Xia Dabao was about to scoop some soy milk but Long Aixi scooped it for her.
With so many people around, Xia Dabao didn’t refuse, thinking that after he had served her, he would surely scoop some for Zhou Xianzhi as well.
Indeed, Zhou Xianzhi also began scooping soy milk, which was closer to Xia Dabao’s side. To scoop, Zhou Xianzhi had to reach past Long Aixi, but Long Aixi appeared indifferent.
Zhou Xianzhi seemed to struggle a bit scooping the soy milk, spilling some as no one helped her. Xia Dabao glanced at Long Aixi but saw that he was still looking at her with no intention of helping Zhou Xianzhi.
Her heart suddenly fluttered.
Xia Dabao drank some soy milk and reached for a bun, but before she could grab one, Long Aixi quickly handed her a bun, “This is your favorite BBQ Pork Bun!”
Xia Dabao smiled and declined, “But I don’t feel like eating a BBQ Pork Bun today, I’d like a meat bun, thanks.”
Long Aixi then put the BBQ Pork Bun in his own bowl and grabbed another one for Xia Dabao, “This should be a meat bun, try it, and if it’s not, you can give it to me.”
There were many people having breakfast today, so the kitchen hadn’t sorted the buns by their fillings; you grabbed whatever you could.
Xia Dabao had no choice but to take it and tear it open, only to see it was red bean paste. She didn’t want red bean paste, so she put it in Long Aixi’s bowl, “You just said, if it’s not a meat bun, you’d eat it.”
“That’s alright, I can eat it,” Long Aixi smiled, “Why don’t you grab another one?”
Zhou Xianzhi was also grabbing buns, and after tearing one open to find it was meat filled, she quickly handed it to Xia Dabao, “Sister Dabao, why don’t you eat this one? It seems delicious.”
Xia Dabao disliked Zhou Xianzhi and didn’t accept it, simply stating, “Eat it yourself, I’ll just have some fried dough sticks.”
Seeing Xia Dabao’s indifferent attitude, Long Aixi became even more certain of something: Xia Dabao was indeed upset because of Zhou Xianzhi. She had been fine when hanging the lanterns, and he had only fetched water once, but after he came back, she had been like this. Xia Dabao wasn’t someone who disliked people easily; it must have been something Zhou Xianzhi said that she shouldn’t have.
