Ye Ge chuckled and shook his head, gently adjusting Nan Feng’s position before he went to lay down next to her. Nan Feng stole a glance at him, and feeling reassured, drifted back into sleep.
Ye Ge laid down beside her. She turned in her sleep, curling up in his arms like a cat. It wasn’t long before Ye Ge also fell asleep.

“In future, keep all the money you collect in the first drawer on the left of my cupboard. But don’t just toss it in there. We need to keep track of our accounts – how many units we sell a day, how many we have left over, how much money we collect. Everything must be accurately logged in the account book…..”
In the morning, at the shop, Nan Feng began teaching Xiaoqing how to manage accounts.
It will be her wedding day in about a week, Nan Feng realizes she must use time wisely.
Whilst Nan Feng was teaching, two women in their forties, carrying a significantly troubled plexion, entered together. Just as Nan Feng was about to greet them, one of the women angrily threw a box of facial mask on the counter. “What are you selling in this shop? Just after using it yesterday, my face turned into this. Isn’t this a scam?”
Just the same, the other exclaimed, “So true! We sampled it in the shop yesterday with no problem, but after using it today, my face became full of spots. So much for skincare specialists, this is disfigurement!”
“Money is one thing, but what about our faces? What are we to do? Answer us, Answer us!”
Fortified by outrage, both shot toward Nan Feng only to be quickly intercepted by Xiaoqing.
“Ladies, let’s talk this through calmly. It’s not right to resort to physical aggression before we’ve even had a proper discussion,” Xiaoqing entreated.
Nan Feng noted the ladies’ facial conditions, then turned to look at the facial masks. “Could it be that you’ve ingested something by mistake or came in contact with a contagious item? Before we draw conclusions, it’s better we stay calm…”
“What are you talking about? We were absolutely fine yesterday, but we broke out immediately after using your product. What on earth did you put in the facial mask? I don’t even need pensation now, just tell us the ingredients so we can seek antidotes from a doctor!”
“Yes!”
Though Xiaoqing was about to dispute the allegations, she was rapidly silenced by Nan Feng.
The customer is King, a principle she held dear. It was always better to avoid conflict until the situation has been fully clarified.
An abrupt thought crossed her mind, her Ping County store had been the victim of similar stunts before. She wondered if these ladies were acting a part.
Yet, their fancy clothes, stubborn expressions, and heightened infuriation made unlikely the notion that they weren’t genuine customers.
As Nan Feng was preparing to make careful inquiries, more women barged into the shop, some even acpanied by maids. All had their masks and facial cleansers bought from Nan Feng held in their hands. “Dear Lady, why are you doing such deceitful things at such a young age?”
“After what you did to our faces, how do you plan to pensate for our losses?”
“Don’t think you can escape responsibility once we leave your shop, we can still hold you accountable!”
“Oh my god, it seems like everyone has these strange marks, it’s not just me! Now, with so many of us experiencing problems after using your product, how do you plan to explain yourself?”
“…”
Nan Feng was out of answers. She could only appeal to everyone to stay calm, while repeatedly assuring them she didn’t drug her products. If she really did, wouldn’t she be destroying her own reputation?
Deep down, Nan Feng sensed that these people weren’t actors. There must be something wrong with her products. But what could it be?
