Lu Jianxi turned around to face Long San and said, “Then you’re superfluous too, aren’t you?”
“I am fully aware of that.”
“I am also aware of my own limits,” Lu Jianxi turned around, ready to look back, but Long San blocked her path, “If you really were aware, then why hide?”
“It’s precisely because I am aware that I chose not to disturb.”
“If you were truly self-aware, it wouldn’t be called disturbing. How can you claim self-awareness if you can’t even walk by openly without saying hello,” after saying that, Long San greeted Ye Ge and Nan Feng, “Good morning to you both.”
After greeting them, he confidently walked towards Ye Ge.
Lu Jianxi hurried to follow.
Seeing Long San asking Nan Feng about his well-being and discussing his recent busyness with Ye Ge, Lu Jianxi seemed pensive.
She understood Long San’s definition of self-awareness: knowing he could be their friend, thus always standing by them and offering help from that standpoint. Since they were friends, where’s the logic in avoiding eye contact and not saying hello?
“Ye Ge told me, you two have been working together lately?” Nan Feng asked Long San and Lu Jianxi with a smile.
“Yes, along with Officer Song, we’re devising a prehensive plan to address the warmth issues for the mon people,” Lu Jianxi replied.
“Then you’ve really picked the right person,” Nan Feng said, “Long San has a way with managing people. His subordinates are always obedient. Isn’t that right, Long San?”
“I am greatly honored by your pliment, Nan Feng,” Long San always carried himself with a refined demeanor.
Nan Feng added, “It’s not just his subordinates who follow him; many ladies in Jianghu admire him as well. However, Long San likes mature, steady, independent ladies, just like Jianxi here.”
Lu Jianxi instantly felt a bit awkward, yet she quickly defused it, “Jianxi has always been crude; how could Lord Long San fancy someone like her.”
“These are all things Long San told me before. If you don’t believe me, you can ask him.” Nan Feng remembered when she first asked Long San why he didn’t like Xue Ling, and he replied that Xue Ling was too willful and immature, prioritizing love above all else, whereas he preferred an independent and thoughtful lady.
Long San, however, said, “The affection has actually been expressed, but Jianxi doesn’t believe it, thinking of me as a frivolous man.”
Nan Feng hastily spoke up for Long San. “Jianxi, you really have misunderstood Long San. It’s always been him rejecting the ladies, none has rejected him. Now, it seems he has met his match in you.”
Lu Jianxi still felt somewhat awkward, “Jianxi still has matters to attend to; Ye Ge, Nan Feng, you two take your time and rest well at home. I’ll be going out now.”
Long San also said, “I have to be busy as well. You two have a good rest at home.”

Late at night.
Ye Ge took a jug of wine to Long San’s room.
Long San hadn’t gone to bed yet and was writing the plan at his desk.
“Working so hard?” Ye Ge said.
Long San looked up, “Without hard work, how can I show diligence? Do you think those brilliant plans of mine just e out without any thought?”
“Then you are indeed putting thought into it,” as Ye Ge spoke, he walked over to Long San, put down the jug, and took out two cups, “Or maybe I am just a bit more fortunate. Things have always just flowed naturally with Nan Feng, without needing so much effort?”
Long San chuckled, “Don’t think I’m unaware. I remember Nan Feng telling me how you used to help her hunt in the village and even fixed her roof. Isn’t that putting in effort?”
“That’s true,” Ye Ge said while pouring Long San a drink.
“Sweet rice wine?” Long San smelled the aroma, “You really do consider my preferences, knowing I don’t drink alcohol.”
