A group of hooded figures gathered in the ruins of an ancient broken building. The walls stood cracked and half buried under roots and moss, the sll of damp soil and old death hanging in the air. A cold wind passed through the shattered pillars, making loose stones roll across the ground.

"We can’t wait any longer," one of them said in a low, urgent voice.

"It’s ti to move!"

"But won’t it be hasty?" another asked, glancing around nervously.

"It might be, but we can’t wait any longer!"

"Proclaim the order..."

"Vow to wipe out until they grovel on our feet."

"Hail The Abysss.."

"Hail the Abysss.."

Scread filled the place.

"Lord Apostle please begin.."

The Apostle stepped forward and raised both hands. Dark energy gathered around his fingers as he began chanting a spell. The ground beneath them trembled. A deep rumbling sound echoed from below.

Then, the earth split open.

RUMBLE!RUMBLE!

A huge crevice started to extend out.

A heavy stone door hidden beneath layers of mud began to slide aside, releasing a foul stench. From the darkness, bodies began to crawl out. Rotten flesh hung from bones. Clothes were tattered and fused to their skin. Empty eye sockets and dead eyes stared ahead without expression.

The Apostle, looking at ZOMBIES crawling out, raises his hand and shouted.

"Go..March forward my dead soldiers and lay everything before you to waste.."

"Go!"

"Wyaayau.."

"Kuuaa.."

Soon erratic growling noises filled the entire place.

........

The zombies dragged themselves forward with twisted limbs. So walked with stiff, jerking steps, while others crawled with fingers bent at unnatural angles. Their bodies were swollen in places and sunken in others. Mouths hung open, letting out broken breaths that sounded like dying animals.

Their movents were slow at first, but as more poured out, they beca faster, pushing each other aside. Teeth snapped in the air. Their heads twitched, always searching for sounds and life.

A Dark Priest stood before them. He wore long black robes covered in strange markings. His eyes glead like a predator watching its prey.

He lifted his staff and raised his voice.

"Wraiths of the underworld..."

His voice echoed against the ruined walls.

"Start moving..."

The zombies stopped and turned their heads toward him.

"It’s ti... It’s ti to fulfill the purpose you were born with."

Dark mist coiled around his feet.

"Ti to engulf everything... It’s ti to drown in vengeance."

He pointed forward.

"Go."

The earth shook as the massive horde began to move. Their steps were uneven and heavy, crushing broken stones under their feet. So climbed over each other like insects. Their low growls filled the night as they marched toward the nearby settlents.

A dark cloud gathered above them, and with every step, the land seed to rot.

... ... ...

At the Duchy, Roen De Salvos stood tall inside the eting chamber. He was the first-born son and promised heir to the Duchy. Everyone believed that one day the entire land would fall into his hands. However, only Roen knew how hard his life had been.

Unlike other noble children who received warmth and gentle words, his education was strict and cold. Whether it was his mother or his father, both trained him without holding back.

The reason was simple. They could not risk him growing up weak and incompetent. As the heir of the Duchy, he needed to be outstanding, noble, upright, and he must learn moral values and compassion. Roen never complained, but deep inside he carried a heavy burden.

Roen was now in charge of managing the City of Nortis that guards the Eastern and Western pass.

He had called for a eting because of repeated attacks along the border.

"What’s going on?" Roen asked, his voice steady but sharp. "We are protectors of the pass that joins the eastern region. I have been getting quite a number of complaints recently."

He paused and looked at the n around the table with a piercing cold gaze.

"Even Baron Blanks had personally written to ."

The knights and officers lowered their eyes. One of them spoke with a tense voice, "We are trying to find the source, but it is a kind of pincer attack."

"They attack and run away."

Roen’s expression turned even colder. "They co and attack and you all let them go. Is this so kind of joke? Are we playing here?"

"My Lord, that’s not what we an," another officer answered quickly. "They are quite swift, and they have mages with weird abilities."

"They have mages, so do we," Roen replied. "If there was a problem that could not be solved by knights then why not deploy our mages? And why was I not inford until now?"

"Please calm down, my Lord," one of them said. "We thought we could handle it, but it seems we can’t. Also, they seem to be followers of a certain religion. Once they know they cannot take over, they just run away."

Roen closed his eyes for a brief mont and let out a slow breath. When he opened them again, his voice was firm.

"Enough. I will personally oversee this."

He continued questioning them, asking for reports of each attack, when suddenly a guard rushed into the room and fell to one knee.

"My Lord... there is an attack."

Roen turned sharply, his eyes widening a little. "Attack? What?"

The guard’s breath trembled. "A massive horde is moving toward the southern passage. Countless bodies. They look dead, My Lord... but they are walking."

A silence fell over the room, heavier than before.

"What did you say?" Roen asked with a deep frown.

"Attack..." the knight said, chest rising and falling. "Who attacked us... There aren’t even nobles left to attack."

The man muttered, totally skipping the earlier words he heard.

Undead attacking.

Is this so opera drama scene?

"My Lord, believe ..It’s really a group of weirdly moving people and undead. They are attacking us.

Roen stared at him, stunned. Sothing cold ran down his back. Undead attacking Nortis was not just an assault, it was a disaster.
