Outside the city.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The deafening explosions swallowed every scream of cries and prayers. The air itself shook as shockwaves rolled outward like invisible walls, crushing everything in their path.

"What the hell is going on!" Albert scread.

Before anyone could answer, another violent shockwave slamd into them. Albert and several nobles were thrown backward like broken dolls, crashing hard against the ground.

The guards reacted instantly.

"Shields up!"

They ford lines, raising layered barrier shields one over another, gritting their teeth as they tried to hold back the pressure. The ground beneath their boots cracked, their arms trembled, and blood dripped from clenched jaws.

It was useless.

The next shockwave smashed into them and blasted the entire formation away. Shields shattered, bodies flew, and screams echoed as soldiers tumbled across the stone.

Rathlos stepped forward.

His massive form planted itself between the city and the chaos beyond. Two gigantic wings spread wide behind him, their scales glinting darkly under the distorted sky.

"On my back!" Rathlos roared.

He flapped his wings.

A cyclone exploded outward.

The violent winds slamd into the incoming shockwaves head-on. The collision created a deafening howl as air currents twisted and folded, tearing apart the destructive force before it could reach the crowd behind him.

Rathlos dug his claws into the ground causing his muscles to bulge forward as he took the full impact.

Wind, fire, and pressure slamd into his body again and again.

Still, he stood.

The ground behind him rattled, but they did not collapse. People were thrown to the ground, but they lived.

Rathlos absorbed it all.

Just then, a scream tore through the chaos.

"Holy heavens!"

SWOOOSH!

Everyone turned in horror.

The dark mass was coming.

A thick wave of black miasma rolled toward them like a living tide, crawling over the ground and swallowing debris, corpses, and broken walls. The air around it hissed and burned, carrying the stench of rot and despair.

"It's coming here!"

"Run!"

People panicked.

n, won, and children turned and ran in all directions, trampling each other in blind fear. So fell and were never able to stand again.

Sera forced herself upright and shouted, her voice sharp despite the terror in her eyes.

"Guards, attack it!"

The royal guards hesitated only a mont before obeying.

"Release the volleys!"

Arrows, spells, and blades slamd into the black miasma but nothing happened.

The attacks vanished into the darkness as if swallowed by an abyss.

"There is no effect!"

Before anyone could react, the black mist surged forward and touched the front line.

"AAAAAH!"

Screams erupted instantly.

The mont the miasma touched flesh, bodies burned from the inside out. People collapsed, their screams cutting off as they turned into blackened husks that crumbled into ash.

"Kyaa!"

"Help !"

"Please!"

Despair spread faster than the mist.

Rathlos roared.

"Guards, line up! I am going to carry you and fly!"

The remaining soldiers rushed toward him, dragging the wounded with them.

"What about the others!" Randall shouted, his face pale.

"We don't have ti to care about them, you idiot!" Rathlos snapped. "Move or die!"

Tears stread down faces as people were forced to leave others behind. Cries of anger, fear, and grief echoed through the chaos.

Then the world trembled.

Everyone looked up.

From within the dark miasma, a figure began to rise.

The darkness tried to coil around him, clinging and twisting like living chains. Then, in the next instant—

BOOM!

A massive burst of miniature flas erupted from the figure's body.

The darkness was blown apart.

"Ugh!"

"My eyes!"

A blinding flash illuminated everything. People scread and covered their faces as radiant light flooded the sky.

Sera stared, her heart skipping a beat.

"Who… who is that?"

Soone beside her whispered, voice shaking.

"It's him."

"Him?"

"Yes, it's him!"

Voices rose one after another, growing louder despite the fear.

"Our protector!"

"Our guardian!"

"The noblest noble!"

Hands reached toward the sky as if trying to grasp that distant figure.

Hope, fragile yet fierce, ignited in their hearts.

The light grew stronger.

Thunder roared.

Lightning split the sky, crashing down in violent arcs as the clouds were torn apart. The very air crackled with power.

BOOM!

Then it happened.

Beams of pure light shot down from the heavens.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Each pillar slamd into the ground like divine judgnt, shaking the world to its very core. The earth split open with deafening cracks, buildings crumbled into dust, and the dark miasma was violently pushed back under the overwhelming radiance, as if it were being burned away from existence itself.

The world vibrated.

Then, from the epicenter of the light, a massive wave surged outward.

People scread in terror as the wave rushed toward them. Many shut their eyes, instinctively bracing themselves for death.

But it never ca.

Instead, a warm and gentle energy washed over their bodies. It was soft, yet powerful. It seeped into their flesh, their bones, and their very souls.

Gasps echoed everywhere.

The pain vanished.

Wounds that had plagued them for years began to close. Broken skin healed. Old scars faded as if they had never existed.

"Ahhh… my old injury!"

"My arm… it doesn't hurt anymore!"

"My scars… the scars I got years ago… they're gone!"

People touched their bodies in disbelief. So laughed loudly, others cried without restraint.

"I can feel it!"

"I feel strong again!"

"My body feels lighter!"

Joyful screams replaced cries of fear. Strangers hugged one another. Soldiers dropped their weapons and stared at their healed hands as if seeing them for the first ti.

Albert and Sera stood frozen.

They could not move. They could not speak.

They only stared at the people around them, at the impossible miracle unfolding before their eyes.

People slowly fell to their knees. So wept openly, pressing their foreheads to the ground. So laughed hysterically, unable to process what they had just experienced. Others simply stared into the sky in silent disbelief.

Amid the ruins, amid the prayers and trembling voices, one truth beca clear to everyone watching.

From today, the na of Blank could no longer be taken lightly.

Just then, a streak of light flashed through the air and landed before Claira.

"Ethan!"

"Lord!"

"Your Highness!"

Voices cried out from all sides.

But Ethan did not answer.

He took one unsteady step forward, then another, and suddenly wrapped an arm around Claira's waist and fell onto his knees feeling his strength gave out.

"I am too tired… I need to sleep… Rathlos, take ca—"

He did not finish.

His body went limp as he collapsed into Claira's embrace.

Claira froze for a split second before holding him tightly, tears streaming down her face.

Rathlos looked at Ethan, then slowly raised his head and swept his gaze across the crowd. His aura flared, heavy and oppressive.

"I am warning you all," he said coldly. "If you have any foolish plans, then dispose of them. Or else."

A sharp killing intent surged outward, locking onto the royal family in particular.

They were royalty. People were supposed to bow to them.

Yet now, no one even looked in their direction.

All eyes were on Ethan.

The man who had turned despair into hope. The man who answered when people cried for protection.

Even Albert, who hated Ethan, could not deny the awe gripping his heart.

"He is truly the Noble of Nobles," Albert whispered.

The nobles lowered their heads one by one.

"We may be foolish," soone said, voice trembling, "but we are not idiots."

"We bow down to his grace."

The crowd erupted.

"Hail Lord Ethan!"

"Hail the Knight of Light!"
