Path To Godhood Begins With Marrying Wife And Gaining SSS Rank Skill Chapter 349:Join Us
After the remaining intent was completely cleansed, Albert and Sera imdiately sprang into action.
There was no ti to waste.
First, temporary settlents were arranged for the citizens who had lost their hos. Camps were set up, food was distributed, and healers were sent everywhere. Next, proper accommodations for the guests were prepared.
The Imperial Palace was nothing more than rubble now, so the nobles whose houses were still intact were asked to host the important visitors.
Fortunately, several noble residences had survived.
That very evening, a small banquet was arranged for the guests from the Church. It was nothing grand. The food was simple and vegetarian, light on the stomach, accompanied by fine wine and warm bread. The atmosphere was calm, almost peaceful, as if the horrors of the past days were slowly being pushed aside.
Ethan finally sat down, hoping to relax for a mont.
Unfortunately, Moreno had other plans.
"Boy," Moreno said loudly, slapping the table as he leaned toward Ethan. "You have such talent. Co with us and join the church."
Ethan blinked, then smiled awkwardly. "Sorry, but I am already married and I have kids. How can I join?"
Moreno stared at him for a second, then snorted.
"Who said a married person can't join?" he said, puffing out his chest proudly. "I myself have forty wives."
PFTTTTRR!
Several people who had just taken a sip of wine spat it out instantly. Others choked. Even Ethan almost slipped off his seat.
Forty.
Fucking forty.
Even he, who had a system that rewarded him for having children, did not even have ten wives. And this old man casually dropped forty like it was nothing.
For a brief mont, Ethan felt as if the system itself was mocking him.
Che… che…
'You aren't worthy to be the host of such a system.'
'Bahhh,' Ethan cursed inwardly.
'Ptui… I am not a playboy.'
Moreno frowned as he noticed the strange looks around him. He slamd his hand on the table.
"What are you all looking at?" he barked.
"N-Nothing!" The surrounding people shook their heads violently and turned away, pretending to be very interested in their food.
Henna stepped forward, rubbing her temple. "Grandpa, stop embarrassing yourself," she said and lightly slapped his arm.
"What's there to be embarrassed about?" Moreno shot back. "Since the Goddess of Love blessed and God gave the gift, why shouldn't I use it?"
His boastful tone made several people twitch.
Henna finally covered her face with her hand. "I can't believe this…"
Ethan hesitated for a mont, then asked curiously, "Goddess of Love? Do you believe in the Goddess of Love too?"
Moreno looked at him and smiled proudly. "Just because I am from the Church of Light doesn't an I can't believe in others."
He leaned closer and lowered his voice slightly. "I also have blessings from the Goddess of Love and even the God of War."
"Hissssss…"
A sharp intake of breath echoed from nearby.
At that mont, a Paladin standing close by spoke respectfully, "You might not know, Lord Ethan, but Sir Moreno is one of the strongest n on the continent below the Saints."
Ethan's eyes widened slightly.
He had suspected Moreno was strong, but he did not expect this.
Below the Saints?
Then what exactly was a Saint?
Questions flooded Ethan's mind, but he held them back. He simply looked at Moreno with clear curiosity.
Moreno noticed and laughed. "Ohhh! You didn't know about that?" He waved his hand. "Don't worry. I will give you a brief explanation before we leave."
He nudged Ethan repeatedly, clearly enjoying himself, but Ethan politely declined, saying he still had responsibilities as a Lord.
Amidst all this lighthearted chaos, many people were still curious about one thing.
How did the Church of Light arrive so quickly?
Sera had gone to the Arcadia Empire, so how did the Church appear here before any imperial envoy?
The truth was simple.
Sera had indeed gone to Arcadia to request assistance, and the Empire was already preparing to send an envoy to organize matters. However, before that request even reached its destination, the Church of Light was already on the move.
Saintess Henna had received a ssage directly from the Goddess.
The mont she sensed the disturbance and Ethan's involvent, she began her journey. Due to the long distance, and knowing that Ethan had already dealt with the main threat, they did not rush recklessly.
They ca prepared.
And now, as the city slowly stabilized and the night grew quiet, everyone understood one thing clearly.
The events of this day would change the fate of Ruthiana forever.
...…
A little away from the capital, under the cover of shadows, a small group sat together and chewed their food noisily.
"Ohhh my God! This is really good!"
"I feel the flavor bursting on my tongue!" he said excitedly, taking another big bite before turning to look at the Saintess. "Isn't it, Henna?"
Henna ignored the comnt and calmly took a bite of a crispy, fried, juicy wing. She chewed slowly, her cheeks puffed out like a squirrel storing food.
Ethan froze.
He sucked in a sharp breath.
'What the hell?'
"You can eat non-veg?" he asked in disbelief.
"Food is food," Henna replied calmly while chewing. "There is nothing wrong with that. If you judge everything like this, then aren't we already damned for killing?"
Moreno snorted and gulped down his portion. "Also, for Knights, food is a source of energy. If we don't eat well, how are we supposed to survive?"
If anyone was wondering how things reached this point, it was simple.
After the main banquet, Ethan had gone to talk with Moreno. Halfway through the conversation, Moreno clicked his tongue and complained that he was craving at. One thing led to another, and now they were sitting together like this.
"Even if it isn't a spiritual mana beast, the taste is absolutely wonderful," Moreno said while licking his fingers.
"Mana beast?" Ethan asked in surprise. "Are they monsters?"
"No," Henna replied gently. "We have dedicated farming. Dairy animals and livestock are fed with food rich in mana. There is mana rice and mana-rich vegetables too."
