The wind rushed past her like a living thing, cold and sharp against her face.

High above the uneven plains between Arcadia and Frontier, a lone figure moved through the sky with terrifying speed. The air rippled around her body as if she were cutting through water instead of wind. Waves of pressure spread out behind her every ti she pushed forward.

Amber Lancelot.

She was tall, almost one hundred ninety five centiters, and her figure was long, lean, and perfectly balanced. She looked built for motion.

Her limbs were toned but not bulky, and her waist was slim. Her posture stayed straight even while flying at full speed, as if the storm of air around her could not bend her.

Long silver hair stread behind her like a banner of light. It did not tangle. It flowed smoothly and shone under the pale daylight. Her sharp gray eyes stayed focused, cold and clear, missing nothing below. She wore light armor fitted close to her body, shaped for speed rather than defense. A short cloak fluttered behind her and snapped loudly in the wind.

Below her, forests blurred into green streaks. Rivers flashed like silver threads. Hills and fields passed in seconds, as if the land itself was sliding away.

She did not slow down.

Her thoughts were louder than the wind in her ears.

They always try to cage .

Her jaw tightened, and a faint crease ford between her brows.

Ever since she stepped into the Legendary Knight realm, people stopped seeing her as a person. She beca a weapon, a symbol, a political piece to move around the board.

Stay here. Train there. Marry this house. Guard that border.

The words echoed in her mind like chains clinking.

She hated it.

Her chest felt tight just thinking about it, and she drew in a deep breath that the wind tore away at once.

I am not a banner. I am not a bargaining chip.

She wanted air. She wanted space. She wanted a choice.

Freedom.

That was why she ran.

Not because she was childish, as her father said. Not because she wanted to cause trouble.

She simply could not sit in a palace while people scread and died not far away.

She had seen the reports. Burned villages. Retreating soldiers. Endless waves of demonic beasts.

Frontier was bleeding.

And the Empires were watching.

Her fingers curled into fists, knuckles turning pale inside her gloves.

How can they just sit and calculate while people are torn apart?

She knew the rules. She knew the orders that commanded no intervention.

But she also knew sothing else.

If power exists only to be locked away and used for your own selfish purpose then what is its worth?

Her speed increased again.

A sharp crack echoed behind her as she broke through another layer of air resistance. Clouds split apart as she shot through them. Cold mist clung to her armor for a mont and then was torn away instantly.

Her heart beat steady. Not excited. Not afraid.

Resolved.

She rembered a child she once saw during a border skirmish years ago. A little girl hiding under a broken cart, eyes wide, hands shaking, face covered in dust and tears.

Amber had carried her to safety, and the girl had clung to her armor like she was the only solid thing left in the world.

That look never left her mind.

She could not ignore that look.

If I turn away now, then what kind of knight am I?

The land below began to change. Forests thinned, and the ground showed scars. Burn marks spread like dark stains. Craters dotted the earth. Broken roads cut across the land and ended in nothing.

She had reached the outer zones affected by the war.

Smoke rose in the distance like dark pillars, twisting into the sky.

Her expression hardened, and her eyes narrowed.

Her father would be angry. Her brother would worry. The court would call her reckless.

Let them.

She adjusted her path in mid air, angling toward the densest smoke. Her body tilted slightly, and her speed surged again.

Wind scread in her ears.

Her silver hair whipped behind her like a cot's tail.

"I am and they are them...As Knight it's my duty to protect the weakling," she murmured to herself, her lips barely moving, her voice almost lost in the rushing air.

Her eyes sharpened as distant sounds of battle began to reach her. Roars. Explosions. The dull thunder of many feet striking the ground.

The frontier was close.

And Amber did not slow down.

.....

Morning light spilled through the high windows of the storehouse, and dust floated in the air like tiny sparks.

Miranda stood near the long wooden table with a scroll in her hand. Her silver hair was tied back in a loose braid, and a faint line of focus sat between her brows. She looked younger than the responsibility placed on her shoulders, but her posture was straight, and her eyes were sharp.

Ethan had tasked her to oversee the goods brought from the Empire through trade. He had said it casually, but everyone knew it was important work. Supplies, tools, rare materials, and knowledge all passed through this place.

She walked from crate to crate with steady steps.

"Mark these as stored in the east wing," she said, pointing at a box of refined mana crystals.

A worker nodded and wrote it down.

She checked seals, compared numbers, and opened containers one by one. Steel ingots. Enchanted fabrics. Alchemical reagents sealed in glass jars. She did not rush. She tapped lids, checked labels, and even slled so herbs to confirm they were real.

After nearly finishing, her eyes fell on a smaller stack placed aside.

Books.

Her shoulders relaxed slightly. Books were easier than cargo.

She moved closer and brushed her fingers over the covers. Most were thick and heavy, bound in leather. Symbols and titles were etched in gold.

She opened the first one.

Her eyes skimd the pages.

"Advanced Circulation Theory of Dual-Core Warriors."
