"So that's what's going on here. My second pupil certainly knows how to make enemies."

Urs had just finished integrating Janson and obtained the information that he wanted.

After breaking the man's ribs for a second ti, he had spilled everything to Urs. People had a limit to the amount of pain they could endure, and even should they have to betray their principles, there were few that would not if it ant relief from their agony.

"Okay, that's enough. Why don't you just take a rest now. I'll make sure that the Alliance Police find you after I'm done here." Urs said before hitting Janson hard in the temple and knocking him unconscious.

He then dropped the man on the floor like a sack of garbage and began locking through the equipnt that was in the room.

The access codes for everything was sothing else he had obtained from Janson, and he figured that he could find more information on these devices. It was important that he knew everything that he could about the enemy since they were clearly a sizable organization with a great deal of resources.

"I'm glad that I took today to check on them. Avery asked to keep an eye on his parents in case sothing like this happened. I thought that he might have been being a bit too protective, but it seems he really has a knack for getting on dangerous people's bad sides. Though perhaps I should be proud of his growth that even a group this strong has decided he's too dangerous to try and fight and have restored to a cowardly ploy like this."

Once Urs had finished going over the data on the spying instrunts that were in the room, he was satisfied that he had caught onto this abduction attempt quickly.

Had he been later, there was a possibility that even he would not have been able to stop it. No matter how good he was, he was still just one man. There were limits to what he was capable of on his own.

Fortunately, it had only been a little more than day since the people spying on Avery's partners had set up shop.

However, Urs did not know if there were others posted to act as spies.

Janson, the man he had interrogated, was only following orders and knew of only his single partner.

For how large of an organization the guy had co from, Urs believed that it was unlikely that a re two individuals had been assigned to this mission.

No doubt there were other teams around that were unaware of each other. Likely as a ans to prevent them from all being found if one pair was compromised as had just occurred.

'If I consider the worst-case scenario, so of them may have already realized what I've just done. I didn't see anyone else following Serena, so I don't think that there's anyone else stalking her right now. But it's possible that another group will be set up near her work to monitor her. I'll need to check on that thoroughly later. This certainly is a lot of work for a retired old man. When Avery and Ezra return, I'll make sure that they treat to so good food and liquor.' Urs thought as he left the room.

He kept a close eye out for anyone that seed to be paying special attention to him, and he adjusted the sensitivity of his personal scanner to pick up on frequencies from monitoring devices that might be aid at him.

This was how he had picked up on the signals that were locked onto Avery's parent's apartnt and located the apartnt where Janson was spying on them from.

Thankfully, or perhaps unnervingly, Urs' scanner did not detect anything. That either ant he was in the clear, or the enemy was using equipnt sophisticated enough to dodge being picked up.

Urs' scanner certainly was high-quality since he relied on it back during his active days as a rcenary, but it was a bit older and newer top end spying gear could probably avoid being detected by it.

'I'll just have to assu for now at least, that all of them are using the sa type of equipnt as what I found in there. So, I shouldn't have to worry about being overheard at least and my imagining disruptor should block them from getting a clear view of with any caras. So now should be the right ti to make a few calls.'

The first ssage he sent was to the nearest police station to inform them of the man he had left unconscious.

He did this pretending to be a concerned neighbor that had heard sothing worrying from the next-door apartnt and had been unable to get an answer from inside when he knocked.

Of course, there was a good chance that the Alliance Police would investigate the true source of this call ca from when they found out that none of the neighbors actually contacted them.

Which was why Urs had used a terminal that was in no way connected to him and sothing that he had taken off of a pirate a long ti ago.

"I'm going through these quick today." Urs said as he crushed the device and threw it into a waste receptacle.

He had already made a call to the Alliance Police earlier today and needed to dispose of another terminal in a similar manner.

And while he did have a decent stash saved up, they were a finite supply that he would not be able to easily replenish now that he was retired.

When he was finished with contacting the Alliance Police, Urs moved from the back alley he had been in that did not have any caras monitoring it and headed back onto the main street in front of Robert and Serena's apartnt.

From his main terminal, he sent out a few ssages to so forr associates that he felt he could trust.

Naturally, they were rcenaries, so it was going to cost him to get their assistance. Still, he knew that he would not be able to live with himself if sothing happened to his pupil's parents when he could have prevented. Plus, Robert was a fairly close friend of his, and there was no way he would ever abandon a friend. Not again.

"Now should I contact Avery about this or not?" Urs muttered under his breath.

The last ssage he had received from his second pupil was that he was about to begin his first raid on a large pirate group in a far-off system close to the edge of the Dramid Alliance.

Even with access to the Alliance's warp gate network, it would probably take Avery at least a couple of weeks to return to the Yuson System. And that would only be if he was able to drop everything he was doing and race over without a single stop.

'He's got a big wedding to worry about as well. I got an invitation from him a little less than a month ago, but I don't plan on going since Azade's too far away. Robert and Serena were looking forward to it though, Yet, as things stand, there's no way that they can leave the station without compromising their safety.'

Although he was hesitant to do so, Urs crafted a ssage to Avery about what was currently going on and sent it off.

It would be a major burden on him, but Urs figured that he would rather know the danger his partners were in than learn about it after it was already too late.

There were also two more people he was wondering if he should inform. Robert and Serena were blissfully unaware oft eh danger they were in right now.

After struggling through so difficult tis, their lives were finally starting to look up again.

Serena had been able to quit one of her jobs and was now working reasonable hours doing sothing she enjoyed.

As for Robert, his body was nearly fully recovered now, and it was likely that he would be stronger than he was before the accident that had nearly killed him.

He was looking into opening up his own business, and the two of them were planning on moving into a bigger and nicer place soon.

"I can't put this on them as things stand. It'd be easier to protect them if I locked them in a room at all tis, but that's no way to live. I'll just have to keep them safe without them knowing about it. It's not like this will be the hardest thing I've ever done."

Once he was satisfied with the preparations that he had set forward, Urs walked back inside and returned to Avery's parent's apartnt.

"That took a while. We're you able to contact the person that you wanted to call?" Robert asked upon Urs' return.

"Yes, there were no problems. Just got caught up in old tis for a bit. There's nothing for you to worry about."
