"Well, this is a surprise. I never thought that I would see you again. It took so many sacrifices, but you managed to make it out alive. Bravo!"
Despite being dragged into Clarien’s office by two large n and wearing cuffs around her hands and feet, Delilah looked as unperturbed as normal.
She even went so far as to mockingly congratulate Clarien and clapped her hands together with what little movent she was capable of.
"I told you that you wouldn’t get away with betraying . Now the recompense you so deserve has finally caught up with you. The first ti Rook suggested killing you, I should have let him." Clarien said, glowing at the woman in front of him.
"Oh, but that would have spoiled all of my fun early. And it wouldn’t have accomplished anything either. Also, I’m sure you know the rumors about . I’m immortal. Even if you kill this body, I’ll pop up sowhere else later."
Delilah looked quite smug as she said this.
Truth be told, there were others in the past that had gotten fed up with her tricks and betrays and done everything in their power to kill her.
Yet even for those who were successful, it did not last long.
Soon enough a new woman bearing the sa na would co along and bring them to ruin. That was one of the reasons that she had beco known as a witch.
Of course, she did not betray everyone she worked with. Otherwise, no one would ever give her an ounce of trust.
Her skills at gathering and manipulating information were also impeccable. Leading even those wary of her to accept her assistance. Just like Clarien had.
"Yes, I’ve heard the rumors and dug into them myself. You’ve have been killed eighteen tis before from what I could find. But there must be so logical explanation for it. What I believe is most likely is that you’re not the original ’Delilah’. I bet that each one of your predecessors has so sort of apprentice ready to take their place once they die. It’s probably the sa for you. But I’ll make sure to figure that out before killing you." Clarien said, giving his best sinister look.
His attempts to scare and interdiate Delilah failed though.
She was hardly bothered by his threats. This was not the first ti she had heard them, and she doubted that they would be the last.
"Oh, I’m very afraid. Please, don’t hurt . I promise I’ll be a good girl."
Delilah responded with a monotone voice and slowly rubbed her legs together in way that might have been seductive if she was not so stilted.
Obviously, this was just another way for her to get under Clarien’s skin. And it worked wonders since he lost the last of his cool.
"Do you think that this is all just a ga?!" Clarien shouted as he pulled out his laser pistol.
rcilessly he shot Delilah in the thigh. Blasting a hole all the way through her flesh, bone, and muscle.
With one of her legs being damaged, she was unable to stand up any longer and fell to the ground.
Still, the only reaction to the agonizing wound was a montary wince of pain.
A couple seconds later she had collected herself again and flashed her trademark grin to Clarien.
"Yes, that’s what this is to . And you’re just an unruly piece on the board that no longer has a purpose and is throwing a tantrum before being cast aside. I an you’re deluding yourself if you think that you have a future."
"You’ve barely got thirteen ships left, and after two monuntal failures, the organization will no doubt see you as unfit for your position. I expect that you’ll be eliminated without my involvent soon enough just to keep you quiet. Ah, and I must thank you for giving over the plans for the few experintal vessels you managed to get away with to Adder as paynt for his help. That was basically the only thing of value that you had left."
Every one of her words was ant to stab at Clarien’s insecurities, and try as the man might, the fuming expression on his face told Delilah all she needed to know.
"You always talk so big, but things are vastly different now." Clarien hissed. "I’ll amass my power again and the organization will have to accept . In fact, I think that you’ll help rebuild. Today there won’t be any reprieve for you, but starting tomorrow, the more useful intel you give , the less excruciating your day will be. Of course, I know you’ll try to lie or trick again, so expect a far worse punishnt when you do. Eventually you’ll break though. There’s only so much a person can take. I know that very well. Those Alliance Police bastards ca very close with ."
An almost crazed look in his eyes, Clarien grabbed a syringe that was sitting on the desk behind him.
It was filled with a light green liquid that was a drug that enhanced the sense of pain that a person felt.
"After I give you a dose of this. Will see how long you can maintain that grin of yours. In just a few minutes I guarantee you’ll be screaming your lungs out while begging for rcy." Clarien said, flicking the syringe so that the liquid inside shook ominously.
"Hehe... hehehehehehehe!"
Delilah started laughing uncountably once Clarien had finished spilling what his plan and intentions were.
She was so underwheld that she could not help but find it funny and laugh.
"Ahhhhh. That was good. It’s been a while since I’ve laughed so hard. Why don’t you start listening to your surroundings instead of the sound of your own voice. Then you might realize that it’s already over."
Despite thinking that she was bluffing, Clarien closed his mouth and listened for any unusual noises.
At first, he did not notice anything. But soon he picked up on a rhythmic beeping sound coming from Delilah.
