While it was not going to be fast by any ans, the imdiate plan was to force their way into the nurous ships that had gone still after their occupants had been overwheld by the horrific entity that had just been released.
After that, the few of them that were still functioning would drag them onboard Zefield's ship and carry them over to the Intrepid.
This ant that they were going to be sacrificing a small fleet of powerful rcenary vessels, but that was the only way that they might be able to save everyone.
Avery had initially wanted to see if he could use his abilities to protect more people, but when he tried it beca apparent that his mind and body were already being strained by the strange powers that he did not really understand yet.
Just keeping Kasandra, Jasmine, and Liesel from being overwheld was the extend of what he could do.
Obviously, without anyone onboard the ships able to give permission for docking or entry, they had to use aggressive asures to gain access to the interior of the vessels.
Thankfully, they were unable to fight back without soone in command of the controls, and Zefield used his destroyer's superior weaponry to take down the shields and then breach the airlock with a specialized boarding device.
After this it was just a matter of dragging the stunned bodies of the people onboard over to the other ship, though sotis they had internal security asures that activated to eliminate any hostile intruders. Sothing that was a pain to deal with.
Soon, Avery, Kasandra, Jasmine, and Liesel got into a rhythm of rushing into unfamiliar ships and dragging people out.
Without their augnted bodies it would have been backbreaking and exhausting work, but the four of them were all determined to see this through and rescue everyone that they could.
In so ways, Avery felt responsible for what was happening.
It was his plan that had accidentally unleashed the monstruous creature from its cage. Even if he had no way of knowing that this would be the outco, and it seed like the best way for all of them to escape from the system at the ti.
As they progressed, ti went by and Zefield was able to get the other project he was working on up and running.
His ship had so specialized equipnt for combating psionic attacks due to so rare space monsters possessing such powers.
The typical shielding around his vessel had not been enough to protect his crew and only the very expensive implant he had gotten for himself was protecting him at the mont.
Fortunately, after setting things up and figuring out the best configuration for multiple arrays typically sitting in his destroyer's cargo bay, he managed to create a field in a small room where people were protected.
They could not leave the area though without the oppressive effect overcoming them again.
Still at least it added a few more people that could assist with certain things, and Zefield prioritized the captains of the vessels they had already been through so that they could control their ships remotely.
Everything was going pretty well, and it seed that if the situation stayed the sa, they would be able to get everyone out before the terrifying entity set its sights on them.
Except, as Avery was rushing through one of the rcenary craft, the terminal on his wrist that was displaying the recording being sent by the probe monitoring the battle between the local space monsters and the enormous creature went black.
The last thing it had shown was a tendril coming towards it at a blinding speed.
"Sh*t! I lost the visualize on the battle. And from what I could tell, it was not going well for the system's space monsters. We might not have long before that thing turns its attention on us." Avery said, a hint of panic on his face.
It did not take long before his fears ca to fruition.
While the pressure of the entity's aura had been ever-present since it started to free itself from its prison, it had not been aid at the rcenary fleet and was simply there.
Now however, Avery felt an intent behind it.
The force of the creature's will was pressing down on them now. Adding an even greater pressure to its ability and a mounting sense of despair.
With his own powers Avery was able to glean a hint of the horrific being's goal.
It knew that they were trying to escape, but it had no intention of letting them go.
Whatever the monstrosity was, it not only consud flesh, but also the emotions of its victims.
The near mindless space monsters that had bene created to combat the creature might have fed it in a physical sense. Yet it would only truly be able to satiate itself when it reaped the lives of the people it had been oppressing.
For a few dozen seconds, Avery, Kasandra, Jasmine, and Liesel were starting to slow down.
At first it was hardly noticeable, but quickly Avery realized what was going on.
'Getting the f*ck out of my head!' He yelled internally.
His sudden outburst of rage pushed back the latest wave of oppressive psychic power trying to invade his mind.
Now that the entity had turned its sights on them, its attack against Avery had beco more directed.
Had he not already been building up a resistance to the thing since it started to wake up, he likely would have fallen had it targeted him this way initially.
Luckily, once he pushed back the psionic force trying to creep into his head, his three companions all rallied as well. His own protection against the monstrosity fully reaching them again.
"We need to hurry. I don't know how much longer we have."
Avery began rushing faster than before, really pushing himself, Kasandra, Jasmine, and Liesel.
Naturally, he had inford Zefield and Nali of what was going on and had the Intrepid send out another of its probe to figure out what was going on.
What he learned was far from reassuring though.
When the probe had covered around seventy percent of the distance between their location and where the entity had been fighting, it was suddenly destroyed.
The last thing that had been transmitted back was a blurry image of the creature. Proving that it was rapidly approaching their position after having defeated the space monsters that had been trying to stop it.
