When Avery woke up, her found himself splayed out at a weird angle to accommodate all three of his wives being nestled up against him.

A smile ca unbidden to his lips as he looked at them all sleeping peacefully and felt the warmth of their bodies on him.

While he had not been in a great mood due to the events of the previous day, he felt a lot better now.

It seed that just being in contact with the people he loved had helped to soothe him.

The spies that had snuck onboard the Intrepid had left him feeling a bit paranoid, but he was confident that the three won with him would never betray him. He could trust Kasandra, Jasmine, and Liesel above anyone else.

Before too long, Avery’s three lovers began to wake up one by one.

Each of them looked refreshed and recovered. Even Kasandra, who had been more hurt by the betrayal of soone she thought was a friend, was noticeably better.

Once the four of them had fully woken up and eaten breakfast together, they went their separate ways to go about their duties for the day.

Avery naturally went to the bridge and found transmissions from their Odium Syndicate contact waiting for him.

The "pirate" attack from the day before had certainly caused a bit of a scare, but the man was not going to lose out on a potential smuggler just because of one incident.

There was no telling when priates might attack a cargo vessel. That was just a risk everyone took.

After sending out a reply, Avery waited for a couple hours before a response ca in.

The ssage was encoded but easily deciphered by the key he had already received.

"Looks like we have our next job already." Avery muttered to himself.

Having obtained the necessary information about where to pick up the next shipnt, Avery had the helmsman set in a course back to the Zatis Consortium.

...

The two-week probationary period went by without any other unexpected developnts.

Avery and his company simply crossed between the Dramid Alliance and Zatis Consortium, picking up legitimate cargo to hide the drugs that they were smuggling.

Naturally, there were no issues moving across the border.

The Intrepid had been set up to avoid its illicit cargo being detected, and the checkpoints that he always went through were being monitored by Cerise’s trusted subordinates. Making it no problem for him to transport Paradise through the Dramid Alliance.

Naturally, everyone Avery t and the locations that his ship went to were recorded and sent over to Cerise during weekly updates.

Considering what he was doing, Avery made sure to be as transparent as possible to avoid any potential blowback that could happen should the mission go awry.

He might have had Cerise’s permission, but he was still moving illegal drugs that were being disrupted throughout the Dramid Alliance.

Luckily everything was going well, and his Odium Syndicate handler was ready for him to start taking on more work.

Up until this point, Avery’s team had essentially just been dipping their toes in the business.

Their shipnts were fairly small and delivered by and passed onto other vessels.

This was done to make sure that the Intrepid could successfully smuggle the drugs past Dramid Alliance border security and determine whether he could be trusted to handle the rchandise professionally.

Obviously, the Odium Syndicate did not want their smugglers skimming so of their product off of the top and using it for themselves.

Ultimately, Paradise was a substance that ruined people over long term use until they were practically useless.

It was highly addictive and euphoric, but the ultimate goal of its distribution was to weaken the populace of the Dramid Alliance and cause chaos.

That way the Zatis Consortium could take chucks out of the border territory more easily since the local system governnts and Alliance Police would be busy handling other issues.

This made it a slow working but insidious plan.

As more people got hooked, they beca almost a pandemic. Willing to do anything for their next fix.

There had not been too many major issues yet due to the Dramid Alliance’s Authorities’ hard work on curbing the problem and relatively short tifra the Odium Syndicate had been active.

Still, there had been riots on so stations already, and it was clear that the problem was only going to get worse the longer the drug remained in circulation.

Which was why Cerise was willing to go to what essentially amounted to extre asures by putting Avery undercover.

Normally it would be unthinkable for her to not only knowingly allow an illegal substance to pass into the Dramid Alliance but help facilitate it.

Desperate tis called for desperate asures though.

And fortunately, all of the groundwork and resources poured into the operation were soon to start bearing fruit.

Avery, in his disguise as Ferdinand Karas, had finally received the coordinates of an Odium Syndicate disruption center.

Instead of just picking up relatively small loads of cargo, the Intrepid would be carrying close to its capacity.

Naturally it would be inefficient to have other ships bring Paradise over every ti. Those vessels could be doing sothing else with their ti and cargo space, and unless an equally large ship was being deployed, the Intrepid’s carrying capacity would be underutilized.

Of course, access to a single distribution center was not going to be enough to bring down the entire Odium Syndicate.

Nevertheless, it would be a start, and Avery already had plans to speed things up.

"Grito has finished making the items that you asked for. So long as the Odium Syndicate has not drastically overhauled their security, we should be able to slip in without any issues." Jasmine said, handing over a detailed report to Avery.

"Good. And have the other infiltration team mbers going along with been decided already?"

"Yes. It’s going to be Kasandra for obvious reasons, Havanna, and a mber of Grito’s team nad Jervasio. Their skillsets are ideal for this mission. But are you sure that you want to go personally? Kasandra could already take up the position of leader, and I don’t think you need to take this risk." Jasmine said, her concern evident.

"No, I need to be there. If it weren’t for my psionic abilities, I would assign soone else. However, my powers give a clear advantage for sneaking into places. There are basically no security asures that can keep out. "

Jasmine knew that Avery was correct, so she did not push the matter any further.

Most locks were secured and disengaged by electrical devices, and obviously caras and security drones needed energy to function as well.

Essentially all modern technology was susceptible to Avery’s abilities. He could render basically anything in his way useless by severing their flow of power.

"Just don’t beco too trigger happy. One or two uses of your ability could be explained away as so sort of malfunctions. But if several things stop working all at around the sa ti, soone is going to notice sothing is going on even if they can’t explain what it is." Jasmine warned.

"I’ll keep that in mind. Still, if things go as planned, I’ll just be an extra being carried by the rest of the team."
