There was a mont of weightlessness inside the stealth pod as it left the confines of the Intrepid and was shot out into open space.
A second later, the internal artificial gravity generator activated, and the space returned to feeling mostly normal.
The artificial gravity was a bit weaker than normal on account of its size and output being smaller than the ones used on most ships.
Havanna was clutching her rifle for dear life, clearly not a fan of the cramped space and the relative lack of safety that the small pod provided.
Only thin tal walls stood between them and the vacuum of space. They were not even able to utilize weak shields to protect them since they would have interfered with the pod’s cloaking device.
On the complete opposite spectrum, Jervasio did not appear to mind at all.
He was already accessing the control panel and making sure that the pod stayed on course.
Its only form of propulsion other than the montum from the initial launch was several pressurized exhaust ports that could release bursts of condensed gases.
Frankly it was a very low-tech and outdated ans of traversing space, but it was one that would not be easily detected. And if it worked that was all that mattered.
"We’re currently on course. In under two minutes we’ll be lined up with the maintenance hatch we’ll be using to enter the faciality." Jervasio said, keeping the team apprised of their progress.
As he said, it was not long before their pod was floating close to their planned infiltration access point.
A large station like this distortion center needed to do routine maintenance on its exterior, and most of that was left up to automated drones.
To go from inside to outside, they had a series of opens along the station that they could use much like the hives of so insects.
This made them the perfect point of entry if one wished to avoid interacting with any people.
Of course, only if you had the ans to avoid the station’s security asures.
When they reached the optimal location, Jervasio pressed several keys on the pod’s control panel.
A thin cable shot out from the front of it and attached to the outer plating of the station right next to the maintenance hatch.
At the sa ti, he had specific ports expelled their compressed gases to stabilize the pod so it did not go swinging around rapidly.
"I’ve established a connection. As Grito said, their security has a few holes in it to be exploited. The cheap bastards should have done a full overhaul of their systems after he turned on them. Bet they didn’t consider anyone would be attacking them in their holand or how much Grito knew about their systems."
Jervasio was clearly enjoying himself as he circumvented the maintenance hatch’s security.
He was soone that Grito had personally sought out to recruit after Avery had obtained his carrier ship.
They had known each other from back when they were kids living on the sa station, and both of them were cut from the sa cloth. Too smart for their own good and always up to sothing to satiate their own curiosity.
Avery had made sure to conduct a background check on Jervasio, and he knew that the guy was not an upstanding citizen.
He may not have gotten tangled up with a criminal organization like that Odium Syndicate as Grito had, but he was no standup citizen.
Nevertheless, he was good at his job and worked for Avery now.
He and the rest of the personnel Grito had gathered were content with the advanced labs and manufacturing facilities aboard the intrepid.
They were basically able to explore their interests to their heart’s content. Within reason of course.
And they all certainly ca in handy.
Being able to quickly design and build the stealth pod the infiltration team was using right now, and hacking into enemy systems.
"Okay, I’ve disabled the alarms, and the locks."
At the press of a button, the sealed maintenance hatch began to open.
A small part of the station began to bulge out, and then once it had extended around a half ter, the tal plate split into two and both sides slid away from each other. Leaving and opening for two people to enter side by side, or more typically a single maintenance drone.
Now that they had their access point, Jervasio lined up the pod’s entry and exit point with it and reeled them in.
Once they were locked in place, everyone gathered their gear and prepared to enter.
"Engage your hostile environnt suits, and I’ll depressurize the cabin."
At Jervasio’s instructions, Avery, Kasandra, and Havanna attached what appeared to be a tal plate to their chess and each of them held a finger against the center of the item for a couple of seconds.
Once it had been activated, a substance almost like liquid flowed out of the tal plates and covered their bodies.
Unlike the cheap suit that Avery used to use when he was still a scavenger, the ones that his crew had access to now were high-end, and cable of being rapidly deployed.
The only downside to these new suits was their lower air supply, but that was well worth the trade for their ease of use and better protection.
It was normally not optimal for missions requiring such suits to last for a long ti in the first place.
After they were all prepared, Jervasio opened up the pod’s hatch and they entered the station.
The area they were going through was only usually ant to be accessed by machines, so there was no atmosphere or gravity.
Still, that ant that there was no chance of running into any other people, and with the alarms shut down, there was basically no chance of them being detected.
Avery led the way, floating through the corridors and making his way towards the airlock that would bring them closest to their ultimate destination.
Their objective was to download all of the station’s records that pertained to the Odium Syndicate and leave a program that would record and transmit to them identifying information for any vessels that ca to pick up shipnts of Paradise.
