569: Chapter 38: Qilin, Li Guanyi!_3 569: Chapter 38: Qilin, Li Guanyi!_3 Li Guanyi rode his war horse, looking back.

The Qilin Army took to the battlefield, scattering in every direction thirty miles out.

……

East Crossing City.

The main city gate.

The river passage had been blocked off, all city gates sealed tight, and heavy objects had been used once again to firmly barricade them; Murong Yuan stood behind the city wall in front of the gate, clad in iron armor, holding a sword, resting against the back of the arrow tower, asleep.

Above the city ramparts, there were arrows aplenty, as well as traces of the Mo School’s siege engines.

There were too many people.

After being surrounded, he led the disciples of the Murong Family within this city in a desperate rush to break out, but even though they were brave, they were still of no use against the great army, leaving behind many bodies.

These n aid to occupy this place because East Crossing City was one of the world’s significant ferry points.

The narrow and small Jiangnan Eighteen States relied on this ferry port for half of their economic throughput; if taken, it would effectively lock the throat of the Jiangnan Eighteen States.

The opposing general had a keen judgnt, or rather, it was the most basic judgnt for a commander.

Murong Yuan had not descended to the battlefield in seven days.

He only rested briefly during the short intervals when the enemy halted their attacks; the supplies of East Crossing City had been cut off, and the scions of the Murong Family along with their disciples, as well as civilian volunteers, were protecting this place.

But they were not going to last much longer.

Suddenly soone pushed Murong Yuan, saying, “Yuan, the enemy is coming again.”

Murong Yuan opened his eyes, bloodshot, he stood up to see that this ti the enemy had directly deployed three Cloud Cars—Mo School’s siege machines as tall as ten zhang—with soldiers in armor bearing shields advancing under the cover of crossbown at the base of the walls.

He rose to his feet, the air around him deadly cold, and commanded, “Murong Family’s noble sons, form up!”

The aristocratic sons of the Murong Family stepped ahead of the civilian volunteers, all clad in armor, raising the swords of the Martial World in their hands and connecting them to their handles to form large, long-hilted, double-edged sword weapons, forming into formations.

Murong Yuan advanced with his sword, cleaving a shield-bearing armored soldier in front of him, slicing through man and armor alike.

With a kick, he sent the man tumbling down, screaming; Murong Yuan gasped for breath, as long-term exhaustion from battle had stretched his nerves to their limit.

He turned back to see the disarray within the city, many houses already smashed by the Mo School’s siege machines.

Murong Yuan held his sword and suddenly roared, “Disciples of the Murong aristocratic family, follow in the charge!”

“This ti, if we don’t break the Cloud Car, we all die!”

He suddenly stepped on the city wall, leaping up into the air.

Murong Yuan landed on the ladder of the Cloud Car.

Wielding the large double-edged sword with a long handle, he hacked violently below, his Inner Qi tearing apart, the sword sound mournful.

Suddenly, halfway up the ladder, he leaped up and landed hard on the ground.

Rolling to dispel the force, he shouted in anger as he wielded the large double-edged sword fiercely.

While driving back the soldiers, he also destroyed the siege Cloud Car.

He actually succeeded, ferociously brave, and ran towards the direction of the city.

At this mont, the Murong Family’s disciples who had charged with him cried out, “How could you abandon us?!”

Murong Yuan, who had already run far, turned back with the long-hilted double-edged sword in hand, carving through dozens in the enemy file and joining up with the disciples of the Murong Family.

He then protected them as they headed for the city.

Ropes were already dangling, awaiting them.

The Chen general remarked, “Unparalleled bravery, what a pity.”

“Loose arrows.”

Murong Yuan knew his end had co.

He suddenly shouted loudly and with a hard push on the backs of the Murong Family’s disciples, he turned and charged towards the Chen General.

His eyes red with fury, fearlessly brave, but several Hooked Scythe Spears lodged in his legs, and with a violent pull, he tumbled to the ground.

Still unwilling to give up, he suddenly roared, channeling his last Inner Qi into the large double-edged sword with a long handle.

With the last of his strength, he hurled it forcefully.

The sword flew hundreds of steps, striking the earth in front of the general, emitting a chilling murderous intent, burying into the ground up to three feet.

“Such a potent killing intent!”

“Too bad he’s a traitor.”

Just at that mont, a tumult erupted, so chaotic that it enveloped the Chen troops besieging East Crossing City; even the Hooked Scythe Spear soldiers holding Murong Yuan were startled.

The man let out a mighty shout, executing a leg technique, disregarding the large pieces of flesh torn from his legs, bleeding profusely.

Seizing a Hooked Scythe Spear, within five breaths, he had slain the five spearn, leaning on the long spear, his face deathly pale, with afterimages before his eyes, gasping heavily, still refusing to fall.

But then he saw, in the distance, a new company appeared.

‘Enemies again…’

Murong Yuan wondered, but noticed sothing different about them.

His eyes widened as he saw a crimson flag suddenly unfurled between heaven and earth, fiercely like clouds falling from the sky, darkly embroidered with a Qilin Pattern, yet with one large character in black—

This character, it seed, many years ago, had appeared here before.

That was—

Murong Yuan, in a daze, seed to return to his youth, when people gathered in the Jiangnan Eighteen States, and the young generals rode Exotic Beasts there.

Back then, the sa banner and character.

[Li].

Chen troops at the rear were struck by a surprise attack!

The Military Governor of the rear army and commanders of the left and right flanks saw the newcors, and Yuwen Tianxian, mounted on a Dragon Horse, lifted his War Spear, Heavy Armor soldiers advancing with shields raised, the air deadly cold; the sound of war drums resonated, as the crimson battle flag furiously waved.

At the first drum beat, all troops raised their spears and flags in unison, chanting with a grating voice.

With another strike of the drum, all troops raised spears and flags together, chanting [Yue]!

The air deadly cold, spear tips and flags danced wildly, entering a combat-ready stance.
