"As long as you know what you’re doing." An Jing felt reassured. Her comrade had been here for over a year and could use weapons passably, though she wasn’t as skilled in close combat. Still, against an average soldier, not an expert, she could likely manage to save her own life in a weapon fight.

An Jing nodded. "Alright." After a pause, she said with so guilt, "Actually, you didn’t have to co along for this war."
Ye Zhi replied, "Now you’re being too formal. What kind of relationship do we have? Besides, I don’t think I can go back—the way things are now, Xiyun is where I’ll live forever. Xiyun is my ho, so in a way, I’m fighting for my ho."
An Jing didn’t say anything apologetic after that and instead asked, "Did you put ointnt on the chilblains on your hands and feet?"
"I’ve been putting it on every day before, but today I haven’t had a chance. I’ll put it on before bed later. Honestly, Gong Juechen’s ointnt works pretty well, but these chilblains are like weeds—every ti you think they’re gone, new ones pop up. I really hope this winter ends soon."

An Jing shook her head and said, "Not sore. Husband, I’m not tired at all, honestly. Riding a horse is much more comfortable than walking. It’s just these chilblains—they’re such a hassle. But, thank goodness it’s not winter all year round. Otherwise, it really would be unbearable."
