On the day Feng Feiyan gave birth to a daughter, An Yiqing happened to be at An Jing’s place, planning to return to the Imperial City once Su Yuxin’s baby finished the three-day post-birth ritual.
The night before An Yiqing was set to head back to the Imperial City, An Jing called him into her room. She didn’t say a word, only looked at him with a constant cheerful smile.

An Jing finally laughed and said, "Your brother has been married for almost four years, and now he has a child. I just wanted to ask you if there’s a girl you like."
An Yiqing breathed a sigh of relief and rolled his eyes imdiately, "Why don’t you ask Second Brother about this question? Traditionally, elders go first, and Second Brother ranks above , so you should ask him."
An Jing, with her modern mindset, didn’t think much about traditional order. Nonetheless, she didn’t comnt on it and simply said, "Isn’t it obvious that your Second Brother likes Qingyi? Do I really need to ask?"
"Then why are you asking ? Even if I like a girl and want to marry her, I have to wait for Second Brother to marry first." An Yiqing truly believed that marriage should follow traditional order; he couldn’t marry before his unwed older brother.
"I just wanted to get a sense of whether you have a girl you like or not. If soday your Second Brother marries Qingyi, then it would be your turn imdiately."
An Yiqing couldn’t help but laugh, "Mother, you’re thinking too optimistically. Second Brother and Qingyi still have a long way to go. It’ll probably be a year and a half before they can marry. You should stop worrying about and persuade Second Brother to open up about his feelings for Qingyi—that’d solve everything, wouldn’t it? He intends to wait for Qingyi to realize it herself, but I don’t think that’ll happen this lifeti. You know it’s obvious that he likes Qingyi, a fact known to everyone. Yet, Qingyi is still unaware of it. For her to realize it is as hard as climbing to heaven, haha."
"Why do I feel like you’re a bit gleeful over this?" An Jing glanced sideways at her third son.
"Well, it’s his stubbornness causing him this trouble." An Yiqing didn’t sympathize with his Second Brother at all.
If he were his Second Brother, he would not only pursue Huo Qingyi actively but also clearly express his feelings for her. How would Qingyi know he likes her if he doesn’t communicate it?
Unfortunately, his Second Brother stubbornly chose to wait for Qingyi to realize it herself, believing it’d be embarrassing to confess his feelings directly.
And Huo Qingyi truly had a rigid mindset, seeing his Second Brother rely as her master. No matter how good he was to her, even though they shared the sa bed, she regarded him only as her master with no other thoughts.
Considering her second son was adamant about waiting for Huo Qingyi to realize it herself, An Jing felt a bit troubled, "Alright, enough about your Second Brother. Just answer my question—do you have a girl you like or not?"
"No." An Yiqing replied straightforwardly.
"You’re already twenty-two; you’ve t many girls, haven’t you? How co there isn’t a single one you like?" An Jing found it sowhat incredulous.
An Yiqing found it amusing, "I’ve t quite a few girls, but if none of them appeal to , what can I do? Besides, Fourth Brother is the sa age as and he doesn’t have a girl he likes either."
