It can’t go on like this any longer!
Suddenly, Ning Zihan’s eyes turned cold. He decided that he couldn’t let An Baobei influence him anymore. He wanted to be the sa as before, to follow the life path he had set for himself. He didn’t want to change.
Once he made the decision, Ning Zihan felt at peace and, lying down, he even started to feel sleepy.
Just as Ning Zihan was about to fall asleep, his phone rang. He kicked the blanket and swore under his breath, annoyed, before grabbing his phone. When he saw the caller ID, it was indeed An Baobei. He cursed again.
Ning Zihan seldom swore, but today he made an exception for An Baobei and swore twice. Still, he answered the call.
As soon as it was connected, An Baobei’s cheerful and lively voice ca through: "Ning Zihan, Ning Zihan, you aren’t asleep yet? I thought you were already asleep."
"...I was asleep, but your call woke up."
"Oh, sorry about that. I ant to call earlier, but I lost track of ti playing with my parents. You saw my dad’s Weibo post, right? My parents got their marriage certificate today. We were celebrating at the club, and later we sang karaoke until just now. It was really fun, especially my second uncle—his terrible singing is always off-key no matter what song he tries to sing. He still wanted to hog the mic, haha."
An Baobei’s voice was really infectious. It unconsciously lifted Ning Zihan’s mood.
Noticing that the corners of his mouth were turning up involuntarily, Ning Zihan imdiately put on a stern face. This wasn’t right! He couldn’t let her influence him anymore! He had already made up his mind!
With this thought, he spoke indifferently, "Don’t call anymore in the future."
"Why? You promised that you’d always pick up whenever I called, so why can’t I call anymore?"
"I’m starting to dislike you a bit now." He lied.
These words were like a bucket of ice water poured over An Baobei’s head. Her previously joyful mood vanished instantly, leaving her cold from head to toe, inside and out.
What she feared most was him disliking her. But now, he was starting to dislike her...
"Ning Zihan..."
An Baobei tried to say sothing, but before she could finish, Ning Zihan spoke indifferently again, "Your illness should be cured by now, right?"
An Baobei thought to herself, I was never sick.
Ning Zihan continued, "If it weren’t cured, I’d still consider you a patient, and maybe I wouldn’t dislike you. Now that I dislike you, your illness should be long gone."
Pausing for a mont, he said, "An Baobei, I see you as a woman now. If you don’t want to dislike you more, don’t contact anymore."
Even though An Baobei didn’t want Ning Zihan to dislike her, she didn’t want to lower herself to beg him not to. She had actually anticipated this day, and now that it was here, her heart was calm. She agreed, "Okay, I won’t contact you anymore."
Surprised that An Baobei was so agreeable today, Ning Zihan felt both relieved and sowhat stifled. He didn’t know what to say, nor did he want to say anything, so he simply hung up the phone.
An Baobei stared at the phone after it was disconnected, dazed for a while, before she finally smiled. Her smile was mixed with a complex array of emotions, including relief and distress.
Previously, he had never said he disliked her, so she didn’t dwell on that issue. She just thought about maintaining their relationship for as long as possible, simply enjoying the sound of his voice and talking to him.
