This isn’t the main point.
Generally, their security team would split up; encountering a wild beast in typhoon weather would be devastating.
Thinking of this, Chen Yang couldn’t remain calm.
"Old Sun! I understand the situation now, I’ll contact them imdiately." Knowing the situation, Chen Yang didn’t rush to the office but quickly pulled out his phone to try to contact Hei Pi and the others.
Chen Yang initially thought the security team wouldn’t go too deep into the jungle, so so cellphones might have a signal.
But after dialing around, no one answered the phone.
This was indeed worrying.
Old Sun’s face was full of concern when he saw that Chen Yang couldn’t get through.
Though anxious, Chen Yang still had a plan in mind.
After careful consideration, he finally decided to go up the mountain personally to bring Hei Pi and the others down; it was the best choice at the mont.
"Yang Zi, you’re going up the mountain yourself? That’s too dangerous; it takes at least an hour to reach the top," Old Sun said worriedly.
Chen Yang shook his head, "It’s okay, Old Sun. I have a plan. You should head back; I’ll go up the mountain to find Hei Pi and the others."
Seeing Chen Yang’s determination, Old Sun couldn’t say much more and took the shotgun off his shoulder, handing it to Chen Yang.
"Yang Zi, take this with you. If you really can’t find anyone, fire a shot; if anyone’s nearby, they’ll respond or co to find you." Old Sun suggested.
Shotguns weren’t useful to Chen Yang, and he initially wanted to refuse.
But upon hearing that it could be used for communication, he accepted it.
"Alright, I’ll head out now. You should return early; the typhoon is coming soon." Taking the shotgun, Chen Yang didn’t waste ti and ran towards the mountain.
Old Sun didn’t linger either and turned back to the Shangshan Village.
Carrying the shotgun, Chen Yang raced towards the mountain.
Since there was no one around, he advanced at full speed.
He moved like a nimble monkey, swiftly weaving through the forest, sotis so fast that even his shadow was hard to see.
After about ten to twenty minutes of this, Chen Yang arrived at the area where Hei Pi and the others usually managed security.
"Let’s search first, firing a shot only as a last resort."
Chen Yang paused montarily, then started searching the vicinity.
But after ticulously searching within a mile radius, he couldn’t find Hei Pi and the others, not even a trace.
This was odd. Hei Pi and the others usually road this area; how could there be no trace at all?
After ten more minutes of searching, with ti running out and the weather beginning to change, he could see the typhoon was quickly approaching and beca a bit unsettled.
He lowered the shotgun from his shoulder and fired a shot into the sky.
With a loud bang, all the birds nearby flew away in fright.
Chen Yang stood still, waiting intently.
After more than ten seconds, a gunshot echoed back from the depths of the mountains.
The sound was faint; if not listened to carefully, it could barely be heard.
Chen Yang imdiately looked towards the direction from which the gunshot ca.
"Have they gone into the deep mountains?"
Thinking for a mont, Chen Yang resolutely ran towards the direction of the gunshot.
After another ten minutes or so of weaving through the forest, he suddenly heard a burst of gunfire.
Bang! Bang! Bang...
A series of gunshots.
Though Chen Yang was close enough to have been delighted upon hearing the gunshots, indicating he’d soon find Hei Pi and the others, his expression was far from joyful and rather more worried.
"Such intense gunfire, likely ans they’ve encountered a wild beast."
Chen Yang frowned, quickly rushing in the direction of the gunshots.
Soon, he found Hei Pi and the others.
Their situation was far from optimistic.
The ten or more of them were surrounded by a pack of wolves.
Dozens of hungry wolves ford a circle, trapping Hei Pi and his group in the middle, seemingly ready to attack at any mont.
Hei Pi and the others stood back-to-back in a circular formation, with severe expressions on their faces, holding shotguns, and ready to shoot at any mont.
Many bore scars of varying sizes, but fortunately, they were only superficial wounds.
Bang!
Chen Yang loaded the shotgun and fired at the wolves from outside the circle.
The shot was intended more as a deterrent than to hit any wolves.
And it indeed had an effect.
The wolves, originally forming a tight circle, were startled by Chen Yang’s shot and opened a gap.
None of the wolves dared turn their backs on Chen Yang and scurried away.
When Hei Pi and the others heard gunfire from outside, they were shocked, turning to see Chen Yang, and their faces lit up with surprise and delight.
"Yang Zi! Why are you here?" Hei Pi asked excitedly.
"No ti for questions now; let’s get out of here and talk after we’ve descended," Chen Yang said, reloading the shotgun and aiming at the wolves again.
Hei Pi’s expression turned grave upon hearing this and nodded, quickly leading the team through the gap made by Chen Yang’s shot.
As they exited, the wolves didn’t dare obstruct them, but still unwilling to give up, they appeared to want to follow.
Seeing the wolves’ reaction, Chen Yang fired another shot into the ground, warning the snarling beasts again.
The wolves were surprisingly intelligent, whether due to recognizing Chen Yang’s threat or so other reason.
After two warning shots from Chen Yang, they no longer pursued and stood still, watching Chen Yang and Hei Pi’s group leave.
"Let’s go, descend the mountain as fast as possible; the weather’s changing."
Seeing the wolves not giving chase, Chen Yang urged Hei Pi and the others to speed up and leave quickly.
Hei Pi, initially wanting to have a jovial chat with Chen Yang upon seeing the wolves not pursuing, was surprised by Chen Yang’s serious deanor in the next instant.
"What’s up, Yang Zi? Why do we need to hurry?" Hei Pi asked in confusion, but quickened his pace nonetheless.
"The typhoon is coming again; today it’s fiercer than yesterday." Chen Yang explained.
"What? The typhoon’s coming again?"
Hearing this, Hei Pi and the others were shocked.
Yesterday, before delving into the forest, they were almost trapped on the mountain by the typhoon.
This ti, they had gone deeper into the jungle; if the typhoon hit with even more ferocity, they would certainly be trapped on the mountain.
Realizing this, a chill ran through Hei Pi and his group’s hearts.
Had Chen Yang not co up the mountain to find them, they truly would’ve been in danger.
They would not only have to face the typhoon but also the wolf pack, which would have been disastrous.
"Everyone, pick up the pace and move quickly," Hei Pi commanded, no longer asking questions but urging his team to accelerate towards Li River Village.
Hei Pi’s n naturally understood the implications of the approaching typhoon.
They all quickened their steps and moved forward together.
A group of over ten strong n moving at full speed was quite swift.
In no ti at all, they exited the forest and reached the mountain’s edge.
By this ti, the weather had already begun changing.
The sky was overcast, and the wind was growing stronger.
The scene replicated that of yesterday.
The only difference was that today’s wind ca a bit slower, not as abruptly as yesterday.
"Let’s move, it’s truly coming."
Chen Yang said, bowing his head and starting forward once more.
Hei Pi and his group followed closely, and soon enough, they were back in the village.
