He instinctively raised his hand and waved it in front of him to disperse the scent, then quickened his pace, heading deeper into the mine.
The first section of the mine was relatively easy to walk.
But as he went deeper, the conditions inside the mine beca increasingly complex.
This place was not flatly excavated; it was like a cave, intricately designed, with many entrances of varying sizes, dizzying to the eyes.
If an ordinary person encountered such complexity, they would likely have been too afraid to venture further.
Because just one wrong turn and they might get lost in here.
Yet Chen Yang didn’t hesitate and continued heading deeper.
After walking for ten to twenty minutes, he’d reached a considerable depth.
Here, there were obvious signs of workers’ activity, indicating he’d reached the current deepest excavation point.
Upon arriving, Chen Yang felt that, much like above, there wasn’t any strong presence of Spiritual Energy.
In so places, he couldn’t sense any Spiritual Energy at all.
Could this place really yield stones that contain such rich Spiritual Energy?
Chen Yang felt it was sowhat illogical.
However, he didn’t leave imdiately; instead, he casually picked up a pickaxe lying nearby and dug at the wall.
The surrounding walls were all composed of coal.
A random swing of the pickaxe could excavate plenty of coal.
Of course, this also stirred up quite a bit of dust.
Seeing this, Chen Yang quickly lifted his shirt to cover his nose and mouth and continued digging a few more tis.
But apart from coal, he saw nothing else.
"It must be a rare occurrence; those stones can only be excavated based on luck."
Noting that after several attempts he couldn’t find even a trace of stone, only coal, Chen Yang discarded the pickaxe, giving up on relying on luck.
The miners at this site numbered at least a hundred.
From their conversation earlier, it was evident that excavating those stones was challenging.
Thus, Chen Yang decided not to waste ti further, knowing it wouldn’t be worth excavating all night just on the off chance.
Seeing the coal mine co to an end and after hearing from the workers that the rich Spiritual Energy stones were indeed sourced from here, Chen Yang lost interest in exploring further.
He promptly decided to leave and deal with it later.
All he needed to do was contact Father Wang to understand the situation here.
Father Wang likely sent him here just to inform him that the magical stones originate from this place.
Hence, he decided there was no point in staying; better to leave for now and co back later.
Having made up his mind, he imdiately turned around to leave.
After walking for about a minute or two, he passed by a fork in the road.
He rembered taking note of a nearby entrance when he arrived.
At that ti, it seed that the entrance beside hadn’t been dug very deep, so he didn’t go to check it out.
On his way back, he wasn’t paying it much attention either.
But unexpectedly, a sound emanated from that entrance beside him.
And it was distinctly the sound of human activity.
This piqued his interest, causing him to stop.
"So late, and there’s still soone mining?"
He was sowhat surprised, pondered briefly, then walked back and entered the source of the sound.
As he walked in, the sound beca clearer and clearer.
From their conversation, it was clear they were indeed employees at the mine.
"Ah, tonight hasn’t been very fruitful; only a few were dug up."
"Pfft, that’s still better than before! Days ago, there were none, so count your blessings."
"Let’s go, ti to clock out; been digging all day, ti for a rest."
...
The sound arrived and imdiately several lamps were seen illuminating from underground.
Chen Yang paused, then saw people steadily erging from below.
Upon this sight, he quickly darted into a small recess within the passage to hide.
Observing the group from within.
Initially, he was quite surprised at how these people erged from underground.
A careful observation revealed.
At the mine’s end, the path started to lead downwards.
These people were actually erging from a lower cave.
There were seven of them, dressed in mining apparel, wielding various excavation tools.
This wasn’t unusual; what truly caught Chen Yang’s attention was that two of them held several of those stones!
This genuinely delighted Chen Yang!
Notably, just one such stone earlier had dramatically boosted his cultivation; seeing so many stones before him, how could he not be tempted?
Though tempted, he didn’t act impulsively.
Instead, silently stayed in the recess, watching as they dusted off before leaving the mine.
The mine interior was pitch dark, with Chen Yang hidden in a recess; those people were completely oblivious.
They passed by Chen Yang without realizing he was there.
"Wow, all in all, these gains aren’t small, several tens of thousands!"
"Ha, it’s enough for us guys to live rrily for a few days, better than none."
"That’s indeed correct."
...
Watching them gradually walk away laughing, only then did Chen Yang erge from the recess.
After glancing towards the direction they left, he imdiately headed deeper.
Upon reaching the mine’s end, indeed there was a hole at his feet that could accommodate two people going down simultaneously!
The hole wasn’t very deep; one could see the bottom at a glance.
About two to three ters deep.
The situation below seed similar to the surroundings, all dark, appearing as if composed entirely of coal.
Though standing at the entrance, Chen Yang distinctly felt faint Spiritual Energy emanating from inside.
Although very weak, nothing compared to the outer air, having such presence underground was proof this cave was unusual.
No wonder he discerned such a drastic difference from their conversation.
Outside, when people in those paper shacks spoke, excavating even one stone after several days was considered good luck.
Yet from the mouths of those people just now, digging several stones seed ordinary, nothing surprising.
From this point, it was clear the stones’ primary source should be within this cave before him.
Realizing this, excitent surged in Chen Yang’s heart.
Without hesitation, he jumped down directly.
Originally thinking conditions below would mirror those above, various uneven mining caves.
But descending revealed a completely different situation.
This was a vast, open area.
Everything within tens of ters had been dug open.
The sensation felt like being in a subterranean hall, very spacious.
Without needing to say much, it was certainly at least three to four hundred square ters.
Moreover, the height reached two to three ters, resembling a large living room.
After jumping down, he imdiately scanned the surroundings and examined the walls.
He discovered that here, the walls barely contained any coal.
Above ground, walls were primarily black, a random excavation yielding a heap of coal.
Below here, the walls visibly had a mixed color.
No longer entirely composed of coal.
