27: Chapter 27 Misunderstanding 27: Chapter 27 Misunderstanding “I know, Yang Zi, I’ll be careful in the future.

But I still have to go to the mountains, or else there won’t be a way to pay for my Ni’er’s tuition,” Li Xiaoe said with a helpless shake of her head.

“Ni’er’s tuition?” Chen Yang was startled montarily and then suddenly rembered.

Li Xiaoe had a daughter, nicknad Ni’er, who was one or two years younger than Chen Yang.

Since she was little, she had enjoyed following behind Chen Yang, clinging to him like a shadow.

However, as Chen Yang went away for school, the two lost contact.

Now, hearing Li Xiaoe ntion it, Chen Yang recalled the past.

“Is Ni’er in college too?” Chen Yang asked.

“Yes, Ni’er is only two years younger than you.

You’ve graduated from college, so of course she’s in college too!” Li Xiaoe said with a laugh.

“Oh, right, I didn’t even realize that Ni’er is only two years younger than ,” Chen Yang said with a scratch of his head and an embarrassed smile.

But he quickly followed up with another question, “Sister-in-law, what does Ni’er’s college tuition have to do with you going up the mountain?

Could it be that there’s a way to make money up there?”

“Yes, ever since Ni’er’s father passed away, our family has basically had no source of inco.

Ni’er’s tuition has mostly been earned through picking mushrooms on the mountain!” Li Xiaoe said with a smile, as she lifted her basket to show the freshly picked mushrooms inside.

Chen Yang was surprised at the sight of the variously colored fresh mushrooms in the basket.

He never imagined that such small mushrooms could earn the money for college.

“Over the years, each sumr, when I have nothing to do, I go up the mountain to pick so, then take them to town to sell.

I’ve saved up so money, enough to pay for Ni’er’s college,” Li Xiaoe continued.

“I see,” Chen Yang said, now understanding why Li Xiaoe went up the mountain.

After knowing the reason, Chen Yang didn’t say much else, and they descended the mountain together.

However, when they reached the edge of the mountain, they parted ways.

Since Li Xiaoe was disheveled, if people saw them coming out of the mountain together, it might lead to gossip.

So to avoid rumors, they chose to walk separately.

After returning from the mountain, Chen Yang first opened the rolling shutter of the clinic, then with his basket on his back, he entered the inner room to wash all of today’s gathered herbs, sorting them afterwards.

Having done all this, Chen Yang began to prepare pills in the inner room.

This ti, Chen Yang was making pills that were commonly used for daily life.

Like the Dragon Tiger Pill, Detoxification Pill, and so that treated complicated and miscellaneous diseases.

Chen Yang sat in the inner room for nearly an hour, finally turning all of today’s collected herbs into pills.

Looking at the myriad of pills of different sizes in his hands, Chen Yang wiped the sweat from his forehead and smiled contentedly.

“With these pills, things will be much more convenient in the future.

I won’t have to go up the mountain to gather herbs every ti sothing happens,” he said as he found a container that could hold the pills.

He then packed all the pills inside, keeping them on his person for ergencies.

After completing this, Chen Yang took a satisfying shower for himself, then made a hearty dinner.

After the al, with nothing else to do, he went to sit at the village plaza.

There aren’t many entertainnt options in the village at night, other than squatting at ho watching TV, it’s gathering at the plaza to enjoy the cool breeze and chat about household affairs.

Most of Liuhé Village’s residents are widows, so the plaza is especially lively every day.

The widows of varying ages made it their first task after dinner to pull a stool from their hos and sit on the plaza to gossip.

Usually, Chen Yang wouldn’t join such gatherings, but since he had nothing else to do after a busy day, he decided to join the crowd.

While mingling, he also got to sneak a look at legs…

In the heat of sumr, the village’s aunts and sisters-in-law wore less, revealing more skin.

Plump legs, slender legs, stick-thin legs…

A whole expanse of white, all kinds, which made Chen Yang feel a bit itchy inside.

He even started thinking about Wang Hong again.

He and Wang Hong had been close to success twice, which made it especially frustrating for him.

He just wanted to find the right opportunity to seal the deal.

As Chen Yang thought this, he also stood up from the plaza, beginning to search for Wang Hong’s figure.

But after scanning around, he didn’t find Wang Hong, which puzzled him, “How strange, doesn’t Aunt Wang love to join in the fun at the plaza?

Why didn’t she co today?”

“Hey!

Who’s that?

Isn’t that our village’s college graduate?

What brings you here to join in the fun today?” soone exclaid as they noticed Chen Yang and teased him.

Her teasing comnt was ant to be harmless, but it ended up drawing everyone else’s attention.

Instantly, all eyes converged on Chen Yang as he stood up—the widows who had been gossiping among themselves stared at him as if he were so kind of rare specin.

They began to tease Chen Yang with laughter in their voices.

“Hey, look who it is, the college graduate!

Such a rare guest.

Co over here, nephew, let’s have a chat.”

“Yang Zi, who was looking for you this morning?

Uncle Zhang at the village entrance said it was a girl, is that true?”

“Yang Zi, you’re not getting any younger; it’s ti to find a wife.

Otherwise, the widows in our village all have their eyes on you!”

The widows, having labored throughout the day, started to joke around with risqué humor, causing a roar of laughter at the scene.

Faced with this situation, Chen Yang naturally beat a hasty retreat.

He couldn’t afford to offend these aunts, who were like enchantresses from the Silk Cave.

After leaving the plaza, Chen Yang didn’t go straight ho; instead, he wandered around the village for a bit before heading over to Auntie Wang’s house.

Having seen so many legs today and recalling the incident with Sister-in-law Li, Chen Yang was growing impatient and decided to find Wang Hong to finish the unresolved business.

However, upon arriving at Wang Hong’s place, he discovered the door was locked, clearly indicating that Wang Hong wasn’t ho.

Seeing this, Chen Yang had no choice but to leave, feeling quite disheartened.

After leaving Wang Hong’s ho, Chen Yang went to Zhang Xueying’s place.

His visit to Zhang Xueying’s wasn’t fueled by such motives.

Though Chen Yang knew he could have Zhang Xueying in a matter of minutes if he wanted, he couldn’t bring himself to cross that psychological barrier; his visit this ti was to ask for the contact information of Fatty.

Now that he had money, he planned to pay back the debt that Chen Zhuang owed to Fatty the next day, so that Zhang Xueying and her child could live peacefully.

“Knock, knock, knock.”

“Xueying…

are you ho?” Chen Yang knocked on the door.

“Who is it?

Is that you, Brother Chen Yang?” Zhang Xueying’s voice hurried from inside as she got out of bed.

“It’s .”

Upon hearing Chen Yang’s voice outside, Zhang Xueying hastened her steps to open the door.

The door creaked open.

It was hot in the middle of sumr, and since Zhang Xueying had clearly gone to bed already, she was wearing very little.

So of her undergarnts were faintly visible.

Chen Yang glanced over, unintentionally or otherwise, and felt a slight stir in his heart.

“Brother Chen Yang, what brings you here so late at night?” Zhang Xueying asked surprisingly.

“Well…

I ca to…” Chen Yang’s gaze shifted from her clothes as he prepared to ask for Fatty’s contact details.

But before he could continue, Zhang Xueying noticed his previous gaze and, with her cheeks blushing and acting like a shy newlywed, she interrupted him softly from inside the door, “Brother Chen Yang…

I’m sorry, I’m on my period, it’s a bit inconvenient.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Yang was taken aback.

It took him several seconds to realize that Zhang Xueying had misunderstood…

“Cough, cough…

Xueying, actually, I ca today because I wanted Fatty’s contact information.

I’ve gathered thirty thousand yuan and can pay it back tomorrow,” Chen Yang coughed awkwardly and said.

“Ah?”

Realizing she had assud too much, Zhang Xueying blushed even more!

Her cheeks were as red as a ripe apple.

“Just wait a mont, Brother Chen Yang, I’ll go write it down for you…”

Zhang Xueying said with a flushed face, then hurried back in shyly, leaving Chen Yang awkwardly standing alone outside the door.

“Sigh, Xueying has everything—figure and looks—but sadly, she’s Zhuang’s wife,” Chen Yang sighed and shook his head as he watched Zhang Xueying’s retreating back.

Logically speaking, any man would find it hard to resist a beautiful woman throwing herself at him so repeatedly.

But it was the thought of Chen Zhuang that kept Chen Yang from going any further.
