59: Chapter 59: Why Not Stay at My Place?

Upon arriving in the depths of the mountain forest, Chen Yang did so digging.

After almost gathering all the dicinal herbs needed for Wu Kexin’s concoction, Chen Yang, with nothing particular to do, sat down to rest under a large tree while his eagle companion stood perched above him on the tree like a watchtower.

It craned its neck left and right, observing everything around it.

“Eagle brother, I haven’t eaten lunch yet in the middle of this day.

How about catching a couple of rabbits for us to eat?” Chen Yang said, patting his shriveled stomach, speaking to the eagle above.

Chirp.

The golden eagle, hearing the words, didn’t hesitate and imdiately spread its wings and flew away.

Then, after about ten minutes or so, the eagle returned, clutching two wild rabbits in its beak, back to the base of the tree.

“Wow!

You’re quite efficient,” Chen Yang praised, then picked up the two rabbits and found a nearby stream to skin and clean them.

Afterward, he returned to the base of the big tree, started a fire, and began roasting the wild rabbits.

Chen Yang’s handling of the tasks was fluid and swift, completely without any delay.

However, the eagle standing beside him was stunned.

Its dazed expression was filled with incomprehension.

At first, Chen Yang didn’t notice, but when he did see that the eagle’s expression was odd, he rembered.

He had roasted both rabbits… He hadn’t left any for it…

Chen Yang was about to take one out of the fire when he realized that both rabbits were already thoroughly cooked.

“Crap!

Sorry, eagle brother!

It wasn’t on purpose.

How about you make do with so cooked food for now?” Chen Yang apologized embarrassingly and handed a cooked rabbit to the eagle.

The eagle glanced at the thoroughly cooked rabbit with an air of disdain in its eyes.

Chen Yang felt awkward.

“Try a bit, who knows?

It might even taste better?” Chen Yang continued to persuade.

Hoping that the eagle would eat, so he could feel less guilty.

Chen Yang went on with a few more words of persuasion, and the eagle begrudgingly began to eat.

At the start, the eagle seed to dislike the first few bites of cooked at, but as it ate more, it didn’t show any adverse reactions.

In fact, it seed to enjoy it.

“Hehe, I told you, cooked food might be tastier,” Chen Yang chuckled as he watched the eagle devour the food and then picked up his own share to start feasting as well.

After finishing the rabbits, Chen Yang extinguished the fire and started his journey down the mountain, carrying his backpack.

He went back to process the collected dicinal herbs into pills and then spread another round of corn kernels on Weed Slope, rounding off a busy day.

Back at ho, Chen Yang sat on the floor of the inner room and began concocting.

By the ti Chen Yang had converted all of the day’s harvested herbs into pills, the sky had completely darkened.

To avoid delaying tomorrow’s construction crew, Chen Yang hastily began mixing corn kernels.

“Pheasants sleep when it gets dark; if I finish late, they won’t eat,” he mused.

After hastily mixing, Chen Yang imdiately grabbed a full bucket of corn kernels and ran towards Weed Slope, swiftly scattering them.

“You must not leave this area tomorrow!”

“You must not leave this area tomorrow!”

As Chen Yang sprinkled corn kernels, he chanted incessantly.

If soone were to see him scattering corn kernels in the wild late at night while repeating these words, they would probably be scared stiff by Chen Yang.

Fortunately, the location of Weed Slope was rather remote, usually without any visitors, let alone at night.

After finishing the scattering in a rush, Chen Yang also headed back ho.

Having prepared himself a late dinner and taken a bath, Chen Yang picked up the dicine he had concocted for Wu Kexin that afternoon and went to the village hall.

“Who’s the sick one here?

Why should I, the healer, personally deliver the dicine?” Chen Yang couldn’t help but grumble on his way to deliver the dicine.

Complaints aside, Chen Yang’s steps did not stop; he walked to the village hall with the dicine in hand.

Glancing into the village hall from the gate and seeing lights still on, Chen Yang knew Wu Kexin was ho.

After all, she was the only one living in the village hall.

Chen Yang had initially intended to knock when entering, but seeing that the door was unlocked, he just walked straight in.

When Chen Yang reached the door of Wu Kexin’s room, he raised his hand and knocked, “Village Chief, are you ho?”

“I’m…

I’m ho!

Just wait a mont!

I’m coming to open the door now!” Wu Kexin’s hurried voice ca from inside.

Hearing this, Chen Yang had no choice but to stand outside and wait for a while.

About two or three minutes later, Wu Kexin opened the door.

“Village Chief, what were you doing so late at night that it took you so long to open the door?” Chen Yang asked curiously.

“I wasn’t…

wasn’t doing anything.

What brings you here so late at night?” Wu Kexin stuttered in response, then turned the question around to ask Chen Yang his purpose for coming.

Looking at Wu Kexin’s appearance, Chen Yang found it odd, so his gaze wandered around the room.

Seeing the round wooden tub resting against the wall inside the room, still not dry, and slling the fresh fragrance on Wu Kexin, Chen Yang understood.

She had been bathing just now, which explained why it took so long to open the door.

“I ca to deliver dicine for you.

Didn’t I tell you at noon today?

You were supposed to co and get it this afternoon.

Don’t you want to recover from your illness?” Chen Yang spread out his palm, revealing dozens of pills in his hand.

Looking at the pills in Chen Yang’s hand, Wu Kexin was montarily stunned, and her heart also felt a bit of warmth.

“Oh, I’m sorry, Chen Yang.

I was so busy this afternoon that I forgot.” Wu Kexin gave an embarrassed smile and took the pills from Chen Yang’s hand.

“Alright, take three of these pills a day after als, and your condition of coldness should be cured after three days,” Chen Yang instructed.

“Mhm, I’ll rember that, thank you, Chen Yang.” Wu Kexin smiled and nodded her head.

Wu Kexin looked very pretty when she smiled, especially with the fragrance that lingers after a bath, which was enough to captivate anyone.

Chen Yang was looking at Wu Kexin’s stunning face and was even a little srized for a mont.

With Chen Yang gazing at her like that, Wu Kexin’s face began to turn slightly red, and the atmosphere grew sowhat awkward.

Because neither of them spoke and Chen Yang just kept looking at her…

To relieve the awkwardness, Wu Kexin tentatively spoke up, “How about…

How about you co in and sit for a while?”

“Sure!”

As soon as Wu Kexin finished speaking, Chen Yang imdiately agreed cleanly and promptly.

Wu Kexin: “…”

Before Wu Kexin could react, Chen Yang had already walked past her and entered the room.

“Village Chief, your quarters are a bit crude, huh?

You don’t even have a private bathroom,” Chen Yang remarked as he entered Wu Kexin’s room and started looking around the environnt.

Although Wu Kexin’s room was spacious, it lacked facilities.

There was only a table, an old-fashioned wooden cabinet, a bed, and nothing else.

Even her own suitcase with nowhere proper to place could only be laid on the floor.

Hearing Chen Yang comnting from inside the room, Wu Kexin collected herself and quickly followed in, afraid Chen Yang might see sothing he shouldn’t.

“That’s just the way it is in the village…

What’s there to look at!

Just sit down for a while,” Wu Kexin said as she pulled out a stool and placed it in front of Chen Yang.

Seeing this, Chen Yang sat down.

But his gaze continued to sweep across Wu Kexin’s ho.

“Village Chief, this house is really inconvenient.

Where do you usually hang your clothes to dry?” Chen Yang asked again.

Wu Kexin didn’t know why Chen Yang was bringing this up, but she answered anyway.

“There’s a place to hang clothes in the outside corridor.”

“Oh, I see.

That’s really inconvenient, even more spartan than my clinic,” Chen Yang couldn’t help but shake his head.

Watching Chen Yang criticize her living quarters, Wu Kexin also felt that they were indeed too simple.

Wu Kexin sighed, “There’s nothing I can do, that’s just the conditions of the village.

This is already the best room in the village office.”

“The village office is just too simple.

It’s a real pity for you, Village Chief, to have to live here.

How about this, Village Chief, you make do for a while and stay at my place for a few days?

Later, I’ll find a construction team to help improve the village office’s conditions, and then you can move back,” Chen Yang suddenly proposed with a smile.

Wu Kexin initially felt touched by Chen Yang’s sudden suggestion.

But then she thought sothing was off about what he said.

Was he suggesting she live at his place?

While pondering over Chen Yang’s words, Wu Kexin also recalled the scene from noon today.

When she had taken off her clothes for acupuncture, Chen Yang…
