“Aren’t you afraid that delaying will make you old?” Su Mei frowned, surprised at his persistence. She truly had no desire to get married, stemming from distrust in anyone giving her a good life. Rather than marrying, she wanted to peacefully stay by the lady’s side serving, and when she was old, leave the household with enough silver to support herself in retirement.
Lu Chuan shook his head, “I’m not afraid, I never planned to marry, it’s only because of you that I want to.”
Su Mei saw his serious expression, couldn’t doubt his sincerity, “Then think carefully, don’t let your life be unfulfilled because of me.”
“I won’t.” Perhaps after speaking his mind, Lu Chuan wasn’t nervous anymore, smiled, with a clean feeling on his refined face, “I was worried about after marriage if something happened to me, I’d let the other party down, but if you just don’t want to get married, instead of not wanting to marry me, I feel happy.”
