Chapter 1812: Chapter 1809: Illness

Under the moonlight, Ye Muyu’s little face peeked out from the quilt, flushed pink, deep in slumber.

Chu Heng’s heart instantly relaxed. He reached out to gently stroke her forehead, ensuring there was no fever before withdrawing his hand. He leaned down and planted a kiss, murmuring softly, “Little troublemaker, always worrying me.”

Of course, there was no response to his whisper. Chu Heng turned to wash up.

After changing clothes, in order not to disturb her rest, he specifically went to the study next door. Once he handled all official and personal affairs, as well as news from the Imperial Palace, the matter with Beirong had already been agreed upon; trade was inevitable.

Yet Chu Heng always felt that things wouldn’t go so smoothly. He lightly tapped his fingers on the desk, pondered for a moment, then picked up a pen to write a secret letter and sent it out.

Once finished with his tasks, Chu Heng finally stood up and left the study.

Outside the study, Lu Chuan was waiting. Seeing him e out, he respectfully greeted him, while simultaneously handing him an item—a medicine bottle.

“Master, this was found on the Buddhist Light Temple’s abbot, sent to the residence by Minister Xiao’s orders, who said no one else knows about it except for you.”

Chu Heng took the medicine bottle, nodded, “Go rest.”

Lu Chuan nodded and left.

Chu Heng turned back into the inner chamber, fetched water to clean his hands, randomly took a medical book from the bookshelf, but before he got a chance to look, he heard a muffled groan.

Chu Heng swiftly set the book down and hurried to the bedside.

On the bed, Ye Muyu felt herself burning up, a heat engulfing her whole body, head dizzy and unclear, muttering incoherently.

Seeing her sweat-drenched, lips dry and pale, yet cheeks flushed burning red, Chu Heng’s expression immediately changed. He reached out to hold her, distressedly kissing her ear, “Ah Yu, wake up…”

“Someone.”

“Call a doctor.”

Su Mei realized Ye Muyu had a fever and quickly instructed the maidservants to bring hot water and sent for a doctor.

Chu Heng sat by the bedside, handling everything personally, wringing out a washcloth to wipe the sweat from her forehead and neck.

Su Mei brought over a teacup filled with warm water, preparing to feed Ye Muyu some.

Chu Heng reached out to take the teacup, his voice deep, “I’ll do it.”

Su Mei shivered slightly, seeing Chu Heng personally tending to her, evidently overwhelmed with worry. She refrained from being a hindrance, solely carrying out his instructions as needed.

“Ah Yu, don’t be afraid.” Chu Heng held her hand tightly, repeatedly kissing her palm, attending to her tirelessly.

The other servants in the room witnessed this scene.

The shock in their hearts was palpable.

They simultaneously realized the lady’s position in the main palace remained firm.

Just hoping the lady remains safe, else none would escape responsibility.

Soon, Su Mei brought the doctor inside.

The doctor, rushed over, forehead sweating, and upon seeing Chu Heng’s stern face, dared not delay, quickly taking Ye Muyu’s pulse.

Perhaps due to disfort, Ye Muyu occasionally let out cries of pain.

Hearing them made Chu Heng even more pained; he held her closer, soothing her gently.

The doctor was even more anxious, after a long while, cautiously spoke under Chu Heng’s intimidating gaze, “Lord Chu, I suspect the lady’s illness might be caused by accidentally consuming some substance, hence the current condition.”

“But don’t worry, my lord, I arrived in time.”
