Cuizhu silently placed the cloth on her face, waited until it was cooled, then started applying ointnt.
Cuiyu sat beside her and asked, “Why did the young miss hit you?”
“Don’t say it’s nothing. We maidservants can’t possibly climb into the master’s bed. Our only fate is to take good care of the young miss so we can have a better life, or else, we might as well await death,” Cuizhu hadn’t expected her to say this and only murmured in response, “The young miss wants to gain the upper hand there.”
Cuiyu’s expression darkened, “Have you noticed that even though she hadn’t returned before, we can only move freely in this Spring Breeze Courtyard in the backyard? If we go elsewhere, we have to abide by the rules.”
