Chapter 1049: Chapter 1046: The Century’s Straight Man

Ye Muyu consistently observed him, sensing his mood changes, a sincere smile gracing her lips. She picked up a teacup and poured him so tea to warm his stomach first.

“Chu Ziluo, co, drink so stomach-soothing tea.”

Chu Ziluo’s face bore a sensible smile, “Thank you, Mother.”

“Mother, actually, father probably doesn’t like Aunt Lin,” Chu Ziluo said hesitantly in a low voice.

Holding the teacup in her hands, Ye Muyu slowly sipped her tea and nodded in response, “I know.”

It was clear to her whom Chu Heng liked. Of course, just because he did not favor Lin Mianmian didn’t an he had co to appreciate her or developed feelings for her.

“Then don’t be mad at father,” Chu Ziluo whispered even more softly.

Ye Muyu reached out to ruffle her hair, “Chu Ziluo, don’t worry, Mother isn’t angry. Have your studies been tiring you out lately?”

She might not fully understand love, but she didn’t want the children to always be concerned about her relationship with Chu Heng. She felt restoring Chu Heng’s mory was more crucial than these emotional matters.

At the ntion of studies, Chu Ziluo’s attention shifted. She nodded, “Mother, the Master you hired for is very good. I now recognize most characters and no longer make mistakes. Mother, I’ve chosen to paint recently instead of learning the zither, will you be disappointed?”

Besides learning characters, Chu Ziluo usually needed to practice writing and read extensively. Her curriculum was vast, and she liked many miscellaneous subjects. Ye Muyu did not hinder her learning and even invited various artisans to teach her.

Chu Ziluo’s knowledge outweighed that of many girls from wealthy families.

“If you enjoy it, then learn it. I trust you can manage your hours well,” Ye Muyu was not overindulgent with Chu Ziluo; she rather wished that she could learn whatever she wanted to, knowing an additional skill could provide her more dependability in the future. Furthermore, Chu Ziluo’s willingness to learn indicated that her nature was not frail but rather strong.

While the three conversed,

the main kitchen also sent over the als.

The al was ready, and Chu Heng hadn’t arrived yet, prompting Ye Muyu to send Su i to call him.

anwhile, in the back courtyard,

Chu Heng had just changed his clothes and stepped out of the courtyard only to encounter a woman dressed in a snow-white cloak standing at the edge of the walkway.

His gaze inadvertently fell upon her, halting his steps. Yet in his mind erged the image of Ye Muyu donning that sa cloak earlier. He had a good mory; the cloaks he had asked the caravan to bring back didn’t seem to have that pattern.

Undeniably, her wearing that cloak made her appear more charming than flowers, her delicate face soft, the redness of her dry and peeling lips painted across, making her look even more stunning.

So she liked white, huh…

“My lord…”

As he was lost in thought, a figure ca towards him, bringing a gust of cold wind. Chu Heng instinctively stepped aside. Lin Mianmian, not expecting him to move, lost her balance and fell with a thud to the ground, her face hitting the dirt and a cry of pain escaped her; Lu Chuan, who was next to Chu Heng, shivered slightly upon hearing the sound.

“Aunt Lin?” Chu Heng’s voice still carried a hint of hesitation.

Standing at a distance, Cuizhu heard the noise and finally snapped to her senses. Along with Cuiyu, she hurriedly helped Lin Mianmian up.

“Ah, young miss, you’re bleeding from your face.”

Lin Mianmian’s hand trembled as she touched the wound, imdiately causing her so much pain that tears swirled in her eyes. She wanted to scold, but upon seeing Chu Heng nearby, she forced herself to hold back, lifted her head, and deliberately exposed the wound, “Master, my face hurts so much…”

“Hmm,” Chu Heng responded, sounding like a typical stoic man, “Let the servants fetch the doctor. You all take Miss Lin back to rest properly. We wouldn’t want you to end up with a scar.”
