Chapter 1052: Chapter 1049: Leaving Scars

He then asked, “Would you like to rest, sir?”

Chu Heng was reading intensely—the majority were the caravan’s account books. During his ti in He County, he had to supervise the riverside every day, only attending to so important elders and issuing commands.

Only now that he had returned did he have ti to read in detail.

Hearing Ye Muyu’s voice, for so reason, he felt as if a feather had brushed against the tip of his heart.

It was slightly ticklish, and his body also felt a bit warm.

“You rest first,” Chu Heng said softly, his thin lips moving to utter two words. His gaze seed fixed on the account book, yet he didn’t turn the page for a long ti.

Ye Muyu, standing far away, did not notice.

She walked to the bedside, extinguished the oil lamp, and the room darkened instantly, leaving only the lamp beside the soft couch still burning.

Under this faint light, Chu Heng stared blankly for a long ti before he realized he was daydreaming. He lowered his head and continued to finish reading the remaining account books.

When he got up, his entire body carried a chill with it.

The room’s brazier had long since extinguished.

He slightly frowned, walked out, and not long thereafter, returned with the charcoal in the brazier lit.

After completing these tasks, he finally approached the bed.

Looking at the slightly raised quilt, Chu Heng rubbed his forehead, his eyes settling on her, and suddenly tossed aside the quilt and sat down.

As he sat at the edge of the bed and lifted the quilt, he sensed a slight movent.

“Haven’t you fallen asleep?” Chu Heng asked, his voice slightly hoarse as if he hadn’t spoken in a long ti.

Ye Muyu, with closed eyes, hearing this, knew that pretending was futile and decided to sit up.

“Mm, are you going to rest now?”

“Is the quilt suitable?” Ye Muyu was actually concerned that the quilt she used might be too thick. Not too thick per se, but the quilts were made from the finest goose down and duck down, very light yet very warm.

She was chilly, which was why she made them particularly.

In Xingshui Village, there were many ducks and geese raised, and at Ye Muyu’s explicit instructions, they were well collected to make quilts and even lining for winter clothes, which were most suitable.

Chu Heng didn’t react imdiately, reached out to feel the quilt, and found it exceptionally soft, “Is life different this ti?”

“Yes, inside it isn’t cotton, but goose down, duck down.”

It was very dark now, and after these words, the two spoke no more.

Chu Heng lay down, sleeping on the outer side of the bed.

Ye Muyu glanced at him, and seeing that he didn’t speak, took it as his having no objection and lay down as well.

There was a certain distance between the two.

Chu Heng, however, felt as if he was in flas, as his body felt about to ignite. It was only belatedly that he realized the quilt was the cause, and subconsciously he lifted a corner to feel normal.

“Do you have any scars from your injury?” Chu Heng suddenly asked.

Ye Muyu, who was already unable to sleep, responded upon hearing his question, “There are so, but they are not visible to others; it doesn’t really matter.”

Chu Heng suddenly felt annoyed by her indifferent attitude.

“Won generally do not like to keep scars.”

“I…” Chu Heng suddenly turned over, his gaze landing on her face, “May I see them?”

“You may not.” Ye Muyu decisively refused.

“I am your husband.” Chu Heng furrowed his eyebrows, seeming puzzled by her response, as previously everything had been fine.

“Oh.” Ye Muyu replied casually and turned over, facing away from him, claiming she was not angry but just a bit uncomfortable.

“When you get back, let Sangqi examine you, perhaps then you will recover your mory,” Ye Muyu sincerely advised.
