Chapter 1352: Chapter 1349: Dialogue
Madam Zhang was montarily stunned before she smiled and shook her head, “Mother, it’s nothing; what could possibly be wrong with ? I think what Third Brother’s Wife said makes sense.”
Her smile was sowhat strained, but once she had spoken, her emotions were back in check.
Chu Qingxiang, however, couldn’t remain calm. She knew very well about her own situation in her husband’s family, and yet her second aunt had deliberately said those words—weren’t they ant for her to hear?
“Second Aunt, if you have any dissatisfaction with , you can just say it directly. Why do you have to belittle with your words like this?” Chu Qingxiang thought about how her husband’s family had indeed received the ssage from her parental ho but had purposefully kept it from her. If it hadn’t been for the bustling feast and her second aunt tripping and falling, which begrudgingly led them to agree to let her go out to gather wild vegetables, she would have never known about it. She ran into a fellow villager who ntioned the incident to her, or else she would still be naively waiting at ho for a ssage from her parental ho!
Thinking about this made her secretly resentful.
She resented Madam Huang for using her position as mother-in-law to restrict her.
Her family at ho was living such a good life, yet they still had to dean her with their words. The grievances she had suffered over the years made Chu Qingxiang’s emotions surge, and her words were very strong.
No sooner had she spoken than the expressions of everyone present changed.
Especially Madam Zhang, who was gripping her hand tightly under the table and desperately blinking at her.
Madam Wang was initially taken aback; realizing she had been confronted by her niece, she was filled with confusion. As her life had improved over the years, her disposition had beco more benevolent, and these words truly bewildered her, “Qingxiang, what are you talking about? Displeased with you?”
“Mother, what did I say wrong?” Madam Wang felt that she had just been discussing her expectations of her daughter-in-law. How did this involve Chu Qingxiang?
Chu Qingxiang’s face turned sowhat pale, and she felt embarrassed. She didn’t know if Madam Wang’s words were intentional or not, but her current situation was very difficult, especially when she saw the accusing eyes of her parents and even her grandparents frowning disapprovingly at her behavior.
She forcibly held back her tears.
Madam Liu tapped her fingers lightly on the table, “Madam Zhang, tell us, what has happened between Qingxiang and the Song family now?”
“Mother…” Madam Zhang didn’t know what to say; she actually didn’t want her mother-in-law to get involved in this matter, as she had said in the past that Qingxiang’s affairs had nothing to do with her.
Ordinarily, she dared only to send her daughter so silver in secret. Plus, with her parents not being at the old ho and living in the county with Chu Lin, she had been dealing with Chu Qingxiang privately. Over ti, their once rigid relationship had eased sowhat.
But now, it seed that Qingxiang had been bullied by the Song family again, and upon returning, she had lashed out at Madam Wang, all in front of the elders.
Her intention was for Qingxiang to co back and nd her relationship with the elders.
Madam Zhang bit her lip, “Mother, there’s nothing of the sort, it’s just that Qingxiang has been without child for these years, so her temper has been a bit bad.”
With these words, Chu Qingxiang’s face grew even paler.
After marrying into the Song family, she had realized how difficult the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship was. Madam Huang was prejudiced against her, and Song Qing deliberately targeted her. As the Chu family prospered, the Song family didn’t dare to bully her openly anymore, but they began to find various excuses instead. Filial piety and infertility were the most commonly used pretexts, and she had no choice but to endure them.
Madam Liu sipped her tea, “Is that so?”
“Yes,” affird Madam Zhang firmly, not wanting to upset the elders who had just returned because of her daughter.
Over the years, she had co to understand that with so many children in the family, even if the elders had their favorites, it would certainly be the children of the Third household—moreover, this ti Third Brother’s Wife had given birth to another boy.
