Chapter 1456: Revised: Chapter 1453 Rewards

Liu Yanzhen’s gaze fell on his face, and he said aningfully, “Lord Chu, I’m afraid this ti will be hard on you. The Northern Barbarians are the most difficult to educate. If you can make them retreat without costing a single soldier, it would be an unparalleled rit.”

“The Prince of the State is right. I will do my best,” Chu Heng responded calmly, his face unchanged, deflecting Liu Yanzhen’s probing with ease, leaving his true thoughts hidden.

Liu Yanzhen smiled, but his eyes were cold: “It seems Lord Chu is quite confident. I wonder what thods you have prepared?”

“Since it’s the Northern Barbarians seeking peace, the initiative lies with Great Chu. All it takes is for our soldiers to intimidate them sufficiently.” Chu Heng’s words were simple, his face carrying a smile as he looked at Liu Yanzhen: “What do you think, Prince of the State?”

The Prince of the State responded with a seemingly concerned smile, though his intentions were probing: “Lord Chu should be cautious. Although the capital is safe, who knows if there are Northern Barbarian spies in the Northern Region. If sothing happens to you, it would be a disgrace to our Great Chu Dynasty.”

Chu Heng’s expression shifted subtly, his dark eyes eting Liu Yanzhen’s gaze, the atmosphere tense. He responded with a smile, “The Prince of the State is right. I will certainly capture those spies lurking in our Great Chu Country, to protect the diplomatic relations between our nations and to prevent any harm to our Great Chu Dynasty.”

Liu Yanzhen stared at him steadily, then suddenly laughed lightly, patting him on the shoulder: “Indeed, a young man full of vigor, with admirable ideas.”

He said no more afterward.

Chu Heng only smiled as if he didn’t understand: “I won’t delay you, Prince of the State. I have matters to attend to and must leave.”

As he watched Chu Heng stride away, Liu Yanzhen’s expression grew dark, and he let out a cold huff, flicked his sleeves, and turned away with large strides.

In the afternoon, Chu Heng once again entered the palace to see the Emperor.

While waiting at the Imperial Study’s door, he heard the door open, and looking up, he saw Li Chongjin coming out. Their eyes t, and they nodded slightly without speaking.

After the Fourth Prince, Li Chongjin, left, He Dequan arrived at Chu Heng’s side, smiling brightly: “Lord Chu, the Emperor is waiting inside. Please follow .”

Chu Heng followed him in, and upon entering, he respectfully saluted: “Your Majesty.”

“No need for formalities, take a seat.”

After the Emperor Xuanming gave the command, he dismissed He Dequan, indicating the importance of the matter to be discussed.

“I hear and obey.”

The two of them discussed for a while about guarding against Duke Zheng.

Emperor Xuanming relaxed and asked, “I heard that your family has invented a new type of armor, Minister Chu?”

“Your Majesty, I was just about to report this. I wrote down the thod for crafting the armor this morning. Please have a look.”

Chu Heng presented the item.

Emperor Xuanming was overjoyed, burying himself in the examination. When he saw the principles contained within and so test results, he thought that if all the soldiers could wear such lightweight and protective armor, their combat effectiveness might significantly improve.

“Minister Chu, you indeed have remarkable skills. A reward is in order.”

That very day.

The news that Chu Heng had been rewarded for presenting the armor spread quickly, causing an uproar within the Chu family in the capital.

Various invitations flooded into the Chu family like snowflakes, and Ye Muyu received nurous invitations to gatherings for various reasons every day.

She did not reject all of them, selecting a few appropriate ones, planning to take Chu Ziluo to attend the banquets.

When Chu Heng returned, Ye Muyu ca out of the big kitchen, feeling she had a kitchen odor, she first changed clothes before speaking to him.
