Chapter 1713: Chapter 1710: Angry

“Don’t be angry, don’t be angry. Even though I’m upset too, it’s not too bad. Don’t make yourself sick over .”

“You’re still so optimistic, even though the thing was destroyed.” Chu Heng sighed and pinched her nose gently. His anger dissipated upon seeing her, though his heart remained cold, and he wasn’t planning on letting this matter go easily.

“Let’s take a look first; maybe there’s evidence.” Ye Muyu quickly cald herself down. She patted Chu Heng’s back, waiting for him to settle down and be sure he wouldn’t act impulsively, before withdrawing from his embrace.

She then turned and walked towards the wooden table.

The tung oil in the oil lamp had burned out completely. Judging by the burn marks on the tabletop, the incident likely happened less than a day ago.

Moreover, the sculpture wasn’t extensively burned, only blackened by smoke, and the base was indeed burned at one corner; even if cleaned, it couldn’t be presented as a birthday gift anymore.

However, Ye Muyu wasn’t too upset, instead, she smirked, tugged Chu Heng’s hand, and pointed to a corner of the room: “Do you see that?”

Chu Heng looked over and found it was below the window, more accurately, below the skylight.

Ye Muyu had previously replaced a tile on the roof with a colored glaze one, making the room brighter, and now, there was a faint scratch in the corner, with a bit of soot beneath it.

Not too noticeable.

“Seems like soone did sothing on the roof,” Ye Muyu looked up at the roof.

After seeing these clues, Chu Heng suddenly turned his head to look at Ye Muyu, pinched her cheek, and hesitantly asked, “Ah Yu, did you already anticipate sothing like this would happen?”

“Oh, you finally guessed it?” Ye Muyu’s eyes curved into a smile at him.

At first, Chu Heng hadn’t noticed anything, especially since he was in a good mood and then sothing terrible suddenly happened. He didn’t realize anything was amiss until Ah Yu didn’t seem very upset, which puzzled him slightly, but he didn’t think much of it.

He just assud Ah Yu was trying to comfort him.

But now, hearing Ye Muyu’s words, if he didn’t understand, he’d be a fool. This was all part of Ye Muyu’s clever plan.

“You knew soone would deliberately target the gift you prepared for the Empress Dowager, so you went along with it and gave them the chance. But actually, the burned sculpture wasn’t the one you had prepared, right?”

Chu Heng sighed deeply in relief. The incident happened suddenly. While he was angry and wanted to find the culprit, he was also thinking about how to quickly make a gift that would please the Empress Dowager and resolve this urgent crisis; otherwise, Ah Yu would be implicated, and he absolutely couldn’t allow it.

Ye Muyu’s eyes sparkled as she smiled, giving him a quick peck on the lips, “Mm, yes, am I smart?”

Leaning into his embrace, with a bit of a coquettish tone, her eyes twinkling brightly, making Chu Heng’s heart lt.

“Yes, smart.” Chu Heng kissed her cheeks twice, couldn’t help but smile, and stroked her cheek, “You did very well.”

“There’s no other way; carving is too difficult. If I’m not careful, I’d get really tired. My hand was so sore before. How could I let a gift that I put so much effort into be ruined? If it was really destroyed, I’d be furious.” Ye Muyu grumbled, grinding her teeth a little.
