Chapter 1783: Chapter 1780: Details

Chu Bo was also giggling foolishly beside them, feeling that he himself was quite lucky.

After Ye Muyu had talked things out with Madam Wang and cleared up misunderstandings, she said: “Abo, you did very well. If it weren’t for your natural deanor, I wouldn’t have been able to take you away seamlessly.”

Chu Bo thought of the words Third Aunt had instructed him before going in for interrogation.

He was sowhat confused, opened his mouth, not knowing what to say.

Madam Wang looked puzzled as she listened: “Third Brother’s Wife, didn’t we all follow the procedure and give our testimonies? Why can’t we leave yet? I noticed that others who went to the temple could leave as they pleased.”

“I was just concerned, after all, Abo is the main witness.” Ye Muyu didn’t explain much further, “I was worried that the yan people might want to personally escort him.”

“Oh, I see.” Madam Wang didn’t doubt, nodding in agreent, “It’s not like the yan wouldn’t do such a thing. When I go out to buy groceries, I often hear folks gossiping, and indeed, the capital’s yan is quick to arrest people. If you’re truly guilty, you’ll be skinned alive once inside.”

“I need to learn more about these things in the future, or else how would I understand.”

Ye Muyu thought this suited Madam Wang’s personality and would help her adapt to life in the capital, nodding in agreent.

Before long, Chu Bo had fallen asleep. Having been frightened that day and experiencing interrogation for the first ti, he slept uncomfortably, his brow still furrowed.

Madam Wang looked at his injuries, sighed, extrely worried, but said nothing. She rely reached out and gently rubbed his forehead until his brow slowly smoothed.

Ye Muyu gave all the hemostatic dicine she had in the carriage to Madam Wang, instructing her to change Chu Bo’s dressing regularly.

By the ti they returned to the capital, it was almost dark.

After dropping Madam Wang and the others at the residence, Ye Muyu did not leave imdiately. She sent the maidservants back to report, staying behind until the doctor ca, treated the injuries, prescribed dicine, and then prepared to go ho.

Yet, just a few steps hadn’t been taken when a servant boy ran in from the front yard saying that Chu Heng had arrived.

Madam Wang said, “Third Brother’s Wife, see, even Third Brother is here. Why don’t you stay for dinner? Your Second Brother will probably be back soon too. Today’s matters were thanks to you.”

No sooner had Madam Wang finished speaking than Chu Heng strode in, still wearing his official attire, clearly having just co from the yan, not even having had ti to change clothes before coming over directly.

Ye Muyu was a bit surprised: “Why did you co over?”

“I had people waiting at the city gates. As soon as I heard you were back, I rushed over.” Chu Heng explained concisely.

Ye Muyu noticed the sweat on his forehead, pulled out a handkerchief from her sleeve, stood on tiptoe to wipe it for him, yet didn’t fully believe him, quietly asked by his side: “Did you also arrange for soone to pick up from the temple?”

As she said this, Ye Muyu blushed a little, wondering if she was being too self-absorbed, but the thought once surfaced couldn’t be suppressed, so she couldn’t help but ask.

After asking, she felt a slight regret.

Chu Heng, with deep eyes, looked at her, restraining his worry, but only showed endless tenderness: “Yes.”

“You just ca from the palace?” Ye Muyu asked again.

She blinked, feeling that sotis being a little self-absorbed seed to truly guess all the things Chu Heng had done.

Often, Chu Heng wouldn’t ntion what he had done in front of her, and stumbling upon this by accident made her both moved and sowhat sour.

Her heart was swelling, with a slight urge to hug him tightly.
