Chapter 1813: Chapter 1810: The Cause of Illness
“The lady will suffer just a bit, but she can be cured.” The doctor said nervously.
Chu Heng expressed his thanks and let the old doctor go to the side to prescribe dicine.
Su i took the prescription hurriedly and sent soone to get the dicine. Then Chu Heng instructed her to personally guard the kitchen while the dicine brewed.
Su i walked briskly outside, and Chun Xing quietly asked, “Sister Su i, is the lady fine?”
“The doctor said she’s fine. I’ll go brew the dicine. Watch over the Young Master, and if there’s any change with the lady, inform promptly.”
Chun Xing nodded, “Oh, okay.”
Su i said, “Don’t go bothering the master.”
Chun Xing nodded without hesitation, “I know, until the lady recovers, I’m too afraid to speak with the master.”
Seeing her like this, Su i was reassured. As long as no petty sches are played and tasks are done properly, they won’t incur anger.
Chu Heng, with a stern face, instructed the doctor to call the attending maidservants for a thorough inspection, checking the food, even implicating the large kitchen. Lu Chuan systematically conducted checks, making the entire Chu family feel sowhat solemn.
Everyone was on edge, afraid of any connection to themselves.
Chu Heng stayed by Ye Muyu’s side, tirelessly caring for her, gently coaxing with soft words, and lightly patting her back. Ye Muyu, although uncomfortable, might have heard his voice, and her tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly. She seed vulnerable and buried herself obediently in the bedding, revealing a well-behaved, clean face.
Chu Heng gently stroked her cheek with his thumb over and over, his gaze filled with pity. When Lu Chuan arrived, he saw Chu Heng’s stern and cold expression.
Lu Chuan stiffened and instinctively stood straight, “Master, I’ve investigated. There were no issues with the food the lady ate today. The only untraceable event was when the lady attended King Qi’s Mansion feast this morning. However, I learned from Liuye, the maidservant beside the lady, that she t the Sacred Girl of Southern Border today but did not touch any related food.”
Chu Heng squinted his eyes, “It’s ti to initiate the prior arrangents.”
Lu Chuan was surprised, and instinctively reminded, “Master, are we really going to take action against the people from Southern Border? But news from Minister Xiao hasn’t arrived yet.”
“Do as I instructed. Acting ahead of ti when they are unprepared might indeed be a good opportunity.”
Chu Heng’s voice grew firr as he looked at the anguished Ye Muyu.
Lu Chuan moved his lips, holding back from speaking further, knowing full well how important the lady was to the master. The likelihood of action against Southern Border was very high this ti.
Though acting now might an insufficient preparation, clearly the master had made his decision and wouldn’t retract it.
“Arrange for continued investigation, leave no detail unchecked.” Chu Heng commanded coldly, lifting his eyelids.
Lu Chuan nodded, “I’ll head out imdiately.”
Chu Heng gazed softly at Ye Muyu, using a handkerchief to wipe her forehead repeatedly while feeding her water, his gentle actions full of solemnity like treating a precious treasure.
Fifteen minutes later.
Lu Chuan returned with the doctor.
“Master, we’ve found sothing.” Lu Chuan glanced at the still unconscious Ye Muyu, feeling lucky for her sohow.
Chu Heng acknowledged with a hum, and just then, Su i brought a bowl of dicine over, and he instructed, “Carefully administer the dicine to the lady, let it cool before feeding, be cautious.”
Even as composed as she was, Su i felt apprehensive upon hearing the instruction, quickly calming herself and nodded, “Master, rest assured. I will take good care of the lady.”
Chu Heng left with the doctor and Lu Chuan.
