Capítulo 1968: Chapter 1965: Revenge One by One

“As for the ssage you ntioned earlier, whether the Emperor has received it still needs to be verified. Moreover, the relationships among the court ministers are complex; when the Emperor was revitalizing the empire, for the sake of the whole nation’s citizens, how could he casually suspect the court ministers.”

“If you have a vendetta, settle it with the person involved. Involving others, what makes you different from those corrupt officials.”

Emperor Xuanming remained silent.

But the unease in the heart of the Minister of Dali Temple was greatly alleviated.

Xiang Anwan started to laugh coldly, the sound echoing throughout the grand hall, sowhat hysterical and sowhat terrifying.

The Minister of Dali Temple wasn’t sure if his words had any effect.

Relying on the protection of the Imperial Guard, plus Xiang Anwan being a woman without martial arts, he decided to continue persuading: “Miss Xiang, don’t you want to expose the scandalous deeds of these villains to the world?”

“What I an is, without implicating the Xiang family, expose the cris of these involved officials to the world. Even in history books, they will not be clean, but infamous for all eternity.”

Xiang Anwan’s laughter stopped, muttering to herself, “Right, they cannot get away so easily.”

“Emperor, let’s make a deal.” Xiang Anwan tilted her head to look at Emperor Xuanming high above, seemingly smiling, yet there was no hint of warmth in her eyes.

“You wouldn’t want the Northern Region to be in turmoil at this ti, would you?” Xiang Anwan’s words amounted to a direct threat.

The Minister of Dali Temple wished he had never heard of it.

Emperor Xuanming’s voice was sowhat peculiar, like he had heard a joke: “Isn’t this what you’re offering to make a deal with us, to leave a legacy for the King of Huainan?”

King of Huainan was slightly moved upon hearing the word ‘legacy’.

Yet he still remained silent.

Instead, it was Xiang Anwan, so angry she stomped her feet: “Old Emperor, our deal doesn’t even cost you anything, and it might even improve your reputation among the people. Why don’t you agree? Do you really want to fight to the death with us?”

“If sothing happens to us in the capital, without a secret ssage, the Northern Region will also fall into chaos. If you insist on protecting these guilty officials, even at the cost of plunging the populace into war, then I will follow suit!”

“Are you so confident that the King of Huainan alone can command the tens of thousands of troops in my Northern Region?” Emperor Xuanming burned with anger; as Emperor, he could not like being threatened, especially by a woman and trusted ministers.

This was undoubtedly insulting him.

Emperor Xuanming wasn’t unangered, only holding back all this ti.

“Then you can try.” Xiang Anwan was growing impatient.

She shouted sternly, “Prince, bring the others over.”

King of Huainan nodded in agreent and ordered people to bring a group of officials over, many of whom were previously injured.

However, the household officials were attending a banquet in the Imperial Harem, unscathed.

When the group of officials was dragged outside the Imperial Study, surrounded by soldiers brought in by the King of Huainan, they already felt so unease in their hearts.

The Vice Minister of the Ministry of War shouted angrily: “King of Huainan, what are you doing? How dare you commit treason!”

King of Huainan held a bloodstained sword in his hand.

With one command, the soldiers nearby imdiately surged forward, and with drawn blades, blood splattered everywhere.

Four or fifty people cried out and begged for rcy.

However, no one could stop these soldiers, who instantly turned them into souls under the knife.

The floor tiles were drenched in blood.

Xiang Anwan laughed out loud, and as she laughed, tears filled her face, as if she had finally erged from a nightmarish decade.

She reached out and dipped her hand in the blood, looking viciously at these corpses.
