"No way, I’m telling the truth. Didn’t you see how much I ate yesterday?" Chu Heng was speaking sincerely, choosing this mont to make her happy.
He was pleased to spoil his own wife too.
Ye Muyu couldn’t help but smile, her mood lifted by his sweet words, regardless of their truth. As long as soone she cared about praised her, she was delighted.
"Just in ti for dinner, I’ve asked the kitchen to prepare black chicken and mushroom soup for you. Would you like to try it?"
Lately, Chu Heng had been busy with setting up the official newspaper, so busy he barely had ti to rest. Ye Muyu could see it and wanted to make sothing nutritious for him, to prevent him from overworking himself at such a young age. She still planned to grow old with him after all.
"Alright, I’ll give it a try." Chu Heng would never turn down her thoughtful gesture.
He finished a small bowl of chicken soup first, then started eating.
He casually served Ye Muyu her favorite dishes, and they took care of each other like this out of habit.
"That’s enough, I don’t want any more. Let finish the rice in my bowl, and I still want to eat so waterlon later." Ye Muyu quickly refused when she saw Chu Heng attempting to serve her chicken wings.
Chu Heng looked down, and seeing that she’d had enough, he didn’t insist.
He himself added another bowl of rice. After all, he practiced martial arts every morning and was busy all day dealing with tasks at the newspaper office. By now, he was already quite hungry.
That evening, the two of them ate heartily.
After Ye Muyu finished eating, she rested for a while before continuing to write her storybook.
When she no longer felt too full, she asked Liuye to cut so waterlon and bring it out.
She used a toothpick to feed Chu Heng a piece first, then ate so herself, saying, "How does it taste? Sweet, right?"
"It’s sweeter than the previous ones. Where did this co from?" Chu Heng was in the middle of making so plans for the newspaper, as well as organizing officials’ tasks. These duties weren’t many, just a bit scattered, and he tackled them step by step without feeling overwheld.
However, these miscellaneous tasks couldn’t all fall on his shoulders forever; he needed an assistant. Chu Heng thought of the official nad Yan Zhenming, whom he’d noticed today. He planned to test him for a few more days, and if suitable, Yan could beco his assistant. Once trained, Chu Heng would be able to hand over responsibilities for the newspaper, since he also had matters at the Ministry of War to oversee.
Ye Muyu said, "These were specially reserved for us, kept in the ice cellar. The previous ones were just ordinary waterlons, mainly for regular sales. We later sold waterlon-flavored ice cream too, and all the waterlons from the manors were sold out. Now there’s no waterlon-flavored ice cream left either."
"And these waterlons, I had them cared for specifically, so they’re naturally very sweet." Talking about the waterlons selling so well, Ye Muyu couldn’t help but sigh, "Life for the capital’s citizens is indeed better. If this were back in our hotown, they definitely wouldn’t have sold this fast. But, it’s enough; after all, there weren’t many. We’ll grow more next year."
Ye Muyu herself enjoyed eating waterlon, finding it an essential sumr treat. Without it, sothing felt off.
"Speaking of waterlons, do we have a lot planted at ho now?" Chu Heng didn’t bother cutting it smaller, grabbing a big slice and finishing half of it in just a few bites.
"Yes, the ones we eat in the residence and those used for making ice cream have had their seeds collected. But in terms of the sold waterlons, everyone knows about the seeds, and even though I’d pay to collect them, no one sells. They’ve all gone ho to try planting themselves," Ye Muyu said.
Chu Heng understood, "No worries, we’re still the main producers here."
