When Zhao Rong heard that his assistant had bought such an impressive piece of high-tech gear, he curiously put the watch on his wrist. "Assistant," he asked, "didn't you say I could watch videos with this? Why don't I see any place on it to play them from?"
Before he could even finish his sentence, a video was suddenly projected onto the wall of the dorm room opposite them.
When Zhao Rong realized the watch could project videos directly onto a wall just like a movie, he imdiately took it off and stashed it away. He turned to his assistant. "Next ti you buy sothing like this, can you please not do it in front of the three ladies? And definitely don't start projecting *those* kinds of videos onto the wall for all to see. If they find out we do nothing but watch films in our room all day, what will they think of us? How will they see us?"
However, before he could finish, Lili stepped forward with a smile. "Brother Zhao Rong, there's no need to hide it. You might pretend to be a righteous gentleman who's uninterested in won, but we all know perfectly well that you secretly watch videos in the dorm and then... well, we know everything."
Zhao Rong froze, stunned. "How do you know such personal things about ?" he asked, his face flushing with embarrassnt. "Did you three install a cara in my room? Are you monitoring my assistant and 24/7?"
In response, the three won simply took a pair of glasses out of a drawer. Zhao Rong examined the gold-rimd spectacles, thinking they looked no different from an ordinary pair of prescription glasses. He asked them curiously, "I asked how you know my secrets. Why are you showing a pair of glasses?"
Before he could finish speaking, they put the glasses on him. Pointing to the floor, one of them said, "Big Brother Zhao Rong, now that you're wearing these, look down..."
Zhao Rong followed their gesture and looked at the floor. What he saw shocked him. The glasses he was wearing could see straight through the concrete floor to the level below.
Cold sweat beaded on his forehead. He looked at the three won, feeling utterly embarrassed. "No wonder," he stamred. "I was wondering how you knew my secrets so clearly. It turns out you've been using glasses that can see through concrete floors..."
If I wear these glasses, the people living below my dorm will be completely visible, as if there were only a sheet of transparent glass between us... I wonder if it's guys or girls down there? It would be great if they were girls...
While Zhao Rong was smirking to himself, the won put the glasses back in the drawer. "Big Brother Zhao Rong," one explained, "we bought these from the Paradise Shopping Cart. They're called 'Upstairs-Downstairs See-Through Concrete Floor Glasses.'"
Hearing the ridiculously long na, Zhao Rong hurriedly asked, "Those 'Upstairs-Downstairs See-Through Concrete Floor Glasses'... how many pairs did you buy? Can you lend one for a couple of days?"
The won shook their heads apologetically. "Sorry, Brother Zhao Rong. The Paradise Shopping Cart prohibits the sale of these kinds of X-ray glasses, so we had to use other channels and could only buy this one pair."
Hearing this, Zhao Rong's face fell. "So you an they're not available online anymore?"
The won nodded. "That's right, Brother Zhao Rong. They're really gone."
"What a sha." Zhao Rong sighed, disappointed. "How can such great glasses just be gone from the internet...?"
Just as disappointnt set in, he saw a shadow flit across the dorm's balcony out of the corner of his eye. Quicker than words could tell, Zhao Rong alerted Yu Lan, who was sitting on a stool. "Yu Lan, quick! Use your Shadow Catcher! The shadow that disappeared before—it's back on the balcony!"
At that mont, Yu Lan had just gotten her hands on the Shadow Catcher. She whipped it out and slapped it toward the balcony. A scream instantly echoed as a man was swatted clean off the fifth-floor balcony, plumting to the ground below.
Walking toward the balcony, Zhao Rong eyed the device in Yu Lan's hand, which looked remarkably like a fly swatter. "So, Yu Lan," he said, "this fly-swatter-looking thing is the so-called Shadow Catcher, huh?"
Yu Lan joined him on the balcony. "Big Brother Zhao Rong, you don't understand," she explained. "This really isn't a fly swatter. It's a Shadow Catcher."
Once on the balcony, Zhao Rong craned his neck to look down at the figure that had just fallen. To his surprise, despite falling five stories, the person simply got back up and sprinted toward a nearby grove of trees.
Seeing the dark figure flee, Zhao Rong imdiately turned to Xue Liani. "Xue Liani, get out your Rainy Night Killer Tracker! If that person in black is the Rainy Night Killer, your tracker should be able to capture their trajectory!"
Upon hearing this, Xue Liani produced a device that looked like a small radar. "Brother Zhao Rong," she said, "I'll use my new Rainy Night Killer Tracker to start tracking the shadow now."
As soon as Xue Liani activated the tracker, it imdiately locked onto the figure.
Just as I thought. That shadow really is the Rainy Night Killer...
The map on the tracker in Xue Liani's hand showed the Rainy Night Killer running a lap around the school before ducking into the nearby grove. But as soon as the killer entered the trees, the tracker's signal vanished.
When Zhao Rong saw the signal disappear, he couldn't help but ask, "Xue Liani, why would the tracker signal just vanish like that?"
Xue Liani explained, "Brother Zhao Rong, there's sothing you don't know. According to the manual, the signal disappeared because the Rainy Night Killer must have gone into a man-made burrow. The soil is blocking the signal's transmission, which is why my tracker can no longer follow him."
Hearing her explanation, Zhao Rong nodded. "I never would have guessed the Rainy Night Killer's hideout was in the grove behind the school playground."
Zhao Rong made an imdiate decision. "Since we've found the Rainy Night Killer's trail," he announced, "we'll see this through to the end. Let's head into the grove and find that burrow!"
But just as they were about to set off, a wave of exhaustion washed over them. They had all been out at a nightclub the previous night and had barely slept. Seeing everyone yawning nonstop, Zhao Rong felt helpless but tried to rally them. "Everyone, we're a team. Just bear with it for a little longer. If we miss this chance to capture the Rainy Night Killer, who knows when we'll get another one?"
Just then, Zhao Rong let out a huge yawn himself, feeling incredibly drowsy. At that mont, Lili took out a "Dream Disruptor" she had bought online. Activating the device, she said to them, "Big Brother Zhao Rong, all of you, lie down and go to sleep. I'm going to use this Dream Disruptor to enter your minds and pull you into a state of ultra-deep sleep. That way, you'll only need to sleep for three minutes, but it will feel like you've rested for over twelve hours."
Apparently, this "ultra-deep sleep" was a state humans couldn't normally achieve, but it was the most effective way to eliminate fatigue. With the help of the Dream Disruptor, however, it was possible. Anyone who entered this state could completely recover from physical exhaustion and fully rest their internal organs in just three minutes.
When Zhao Rong heard about the amazing capabilities of Lili's device, he imdiately lay down on his bed and closed his eyes. Following his lead, Xue Liani, Yu Lan, and the assistant all did the sa.
The group was so exhausted that they fell asleep in less than three minutes. Seeing that Zhao Rong, the assistant, Yu Lan, and Xue Liani were all unconscious, Lili activated the Dream Disruptor and entered each of their dreams. Following the instructions from the device's manual, she guided them one by one into the state of ultra-deep sleep. Her task complete, Lili exited their minds.
Soon, three minutes had passed.
When Zhao Rong awoke, he let out a huge stretch, feeling invigorated and bursting with energy. "Oh my god," he exclaid, "I feel like I just slept for twenty-four hours straight! I've never felt this refreshed in my life."
Yu Lan also felt completely rejuvenated. "I'm usually such a light sleeper," she said. "I'm always waking up and falling back asleep, so my sleep quality is terrible. But that just now... I feel like I slept for a century. It was amazing!"
Lili, too, felt her body had been completely rested. "If a person could enter ultra-deep sleep," she said, "then sleeping would be the most wonderful thing in the world."
But when Lili told them they had each slept for only three minutes, they were all utterly stunned.
