The middle-aged man had just finished forcing the three won onto the cals when they began to struggle and warn him.
"Don’t celebrate just yet!" one of them shouted. "We believe Brother Zhao Rong will definitely save us!"
Miss Lili spat in the man’s face. "Go to hell!" she snarled, clenching her teeth. "Brother Zhao Rong will never let you get away with this!"
Beauty Yu Lan glared at him fiercely. "You’re celebrating far too soon! The three of us know that Brother Zhao Rong will co to our rescue!"
Beauty Xuelian’s voice was the loudest. "Brother Zhao Rong, can’t you see this man bullying us? Hurry up and co get us!"
Watching their struggles, the middle-aged man smirked lecherously. "You three are all beauty and no brains, aren’t you? Haven’t I already told you? Your so-called Brother Zhao Rong is already dead. If you don’t believe , you can wait and collect his corpse."
But before the man could finish speaking, Zhao Rong leaped out from nearby. A single flying kick sent the man sprawling face-first into the dirt. "You fucking idiot!" Zhao Rong bellowed. "Who said I was dead? I’m alive and kicking right here, aren’t I?"
The assistant rushed in right behind him. He hauled the man Zhao Rong had knocked down back to his feet, delivered two ringing slaps across his face, and then drove a kick into his groin. "We heard everything you just said, you traitor!" the assistant roared. "We thought you’d surrendered, but it turns out you’ve been plotting against us all along! Now you’ll see what we’re made of!"
With that, the assistant began thrashing the man on the ground with a flurry of Wing Chun strikes.
When the three won saw their hero, Brother Zhao Rong, not only alive but descending as if from the heavens, they were so overco with emotion they burst into tears.
Miss Lili wept with joy. "Brother Zhao Rong, you’re not dead! We really thought you’d died in that killing storm, just like he said..."
Beauty Yu Lan reached out a trembling hand, touching the man who now stood so close. "Brother Zhao Rong, I can feel you," she sobbed with excitent. "And you’re warm... you’re really not dead! You’re a real, living person!"
Beauty Xuelian was crying the hardest, unable to hold back her words. "Brother Zhao Rong, if you had died, I wouldn’t want to live anymore... because you’re the man I love most in this world... I couldn’t bear to lose you..."
Listening to them, Zhao Rong worked to untie the won from the cals, comforting them as he did. "Miss Lili, Beauty Yu Lan, Beauty Xuelian, don’t worry. My assistant and I were caught in the killing storm, but after a fantastical journey, we made it out safe and sound, see?"
As he spoke, he finished freeing them from the cals and handed each of them a bottle of mineral water.
Miss Lili took a sip before rushing forward to embrace Zhao Rong tightly. "Brother Zhao Rong, it’s so, so good to see you..."
Beauty Yu Lan wet her cracked lips with so water, then threw herself into Zhao Rong’s arms, pounding on his chest. "Brother Zhao Rong, you scared us to death! You have no idea... when we heard that man swear you were dead, we truly believed it..."
Beauty Xuelian downed her entire bottle of water in one go, then buried herself in Zhao Rong’s embrace and bit his shoulder. "Brother Zhao Rong... are we really not dreaming? Are you truly alive?"
Seeing the won still couldn’t quite believe he and his assistant were alive, Zhao Rong recounted the strange experience they had just been through.
When the three won had heard the story of their fantastical journey, they were left utterly speechless.
Miss Lili couldn’t believe there was an oasis inside the killing storm. "Holy crap, that’s insane!" she exclaid. "An oasis inside the killing storm? And it has a lake? That’s completely unbelievable..."
Beauty Yu Lan swallowed hard, imagining the monsters in the oasis. A shiver went down her spine. "Big Brother, it’s a good thing you were able to open the Paradise Shopping Cart app on your phones after you got there. If you couldn’t buy all that amazing stuff, I think those monsters would have eaten you both for sure..."
Beauty Xuelian was most curious about the old turtle in the lake. "Brother Zhao Rong," she asked, "you said the old turtle went to find its mother. Did it ever find her in the end?"
Just then, Zhao Rong noticed that his assistant had beaten the middle-aged man half to death. He quickly moved to intervene. "Assistant, show so rcy! If you kill him, we won’t have anyone to guide us."
Hearing Zhao Rong, the assistant stopped his frenzied punches. Wiping splattered blood from his face, he pointed at the nearly dead man on the ground. "This guy is just too wicked... When he tried to screw us over, he was aiming to get us killed..."
Zhao Rong patted his assistant’s shoulder, signaling him to calm down. He then took a bottle of mineral water from his bag and splashed it on the middle-aged man’s face. However, no amount of water seed to rouse him. Frowning, Zhao Rong bent down to check for breath.
He hadn’t thought much of it, but the discovery sent a jolt of shock through him. He looked at his assistant in alarm. "Your blows were too heavy! Did you... did you actually kill him?"
When the assistant heard that he might have killed the man, he was incredulous. "No way. I didn’t think I hit him that hard... I can’t believe I actually killed soone by mistake..."
With that, the assistant also felt for the middle-aged man’s pulse. After a mont, he shook his head and let out a sigh. "It seems I really did kill him..."
Zhao Rong and his assistant exchanged a look. Then, leading the three won, they turned and walked away from the corpse.
But just as they had gotten a short distance away, the middle-aged man’s eyes suddenly flew open. In a single, fluid motion, he perford a kip-up and, seeing that no one was looking, bolted.
