"Ye Luo, are you doing well?"
Shangguan Xiner murmured to herself, her eyes flickering with complex emotions as she recalled everything she had experienced with Ye Luo in a short ti, a rare smile appearing on her face.
"Xiner!"
At that mont, a woman’s voice rang out, and Shangguan Xiner ca back to her senses, scanning the area and seeing an elderly woman with grey hair walking towards her, her mother Jiang Yulan.
"Mom!"
Upon seeing Jiang Yulan, Shangguan Xiner affectionately called out.
"What are you thinking about, Xiner? You seed to be smiling," Jiang Yulan couldn’t help but ask her daughter.
"Nothing," Shangguan Xiner shook her head.
"You’re not thinking about that Ye Luo, are you?"
Jiang Yulan suddenly looked at Shangguan Xiner and said.
Shangguan Xiner’s face turned red, and she quickly shook her head, "How could I? Mom, you’re overthinking it."
"Ah... Xiner, it’s my fault as a mother for not being able to protect you, making you sacrifice your happiness for my sake. I’m so useless!"
Jiang Yulan said with a face full of guilt and sadness.
"Mom, don’t say that. You raised all by yourself. Even if it ans sacrificing myself, I will absolutely not let anything happen to you. It’s just marrying soone; as long as you live safely, all this counts for nothing," Shangguan Xiner spoke solemnly, a complex expression flashing in her eyes.
"Ah, I never expected your father to be so heartless... I..."
"Mom, don’t talk about him anymore. He has nothing to do with , and he’s not my father,"
Shangguan Xiner’s face darkened, and a deep hatred flashed in her eyes.
"Xiner!"
Jiang Yulan looked at Shangguan Xiner, her eyes filled with complex emotions.
"I hate him, and I hate every single person here even more!" Shangguan Xiner spat out coldly.
"What way is that to talk?"
Suddenly, an icy voice sounded.
A middle-aged noblewoman dressed in phoenix robes walked in, followed by two female attendants that looked like maids.
The middle-aged noblewoman wore a frosty expression, exuding an intense aura of authority, her eyes scanning Shangguan Xiner with a ruthless look.
"Milady!"
Seeing the middle-aged noblewoman, Jiang Yulan’s complexion changed, and she quickly bowed and called out.
"What? After all this ti, you still haven’t learned the proper manners for greeting your elders?"
The middle-aged noblewoman watched Shangguan Xiner with a cold gaze.
"Please excuse her, milady,"
Jiang Yulan quickly said, while also signaling Shangguan Xiner with a look and tugging at the hem of her clothes.
"Xiner pays her respects to milady!"
Shangguan Xiner bowed to the middle-aged noblewoman with extre reluctance.
"Hmph, you’re a disgrace to the Shangguan Family. A maid’s child is nothing but a maid, utterly lacking in upbringing,"
The middle-aged noblewoman said disdainfully.
"What did you say?"
Shangguan Xiner stared at her furiously.
"What? Do you want to hit ? You really think you’re the Shangguan Family’s young miss? If it weren’t for your mother seducing Shangguan Xiong, there’d be no question of your existence,"
The middle-aged noblewoman looked at Shangguan Xiner coldly.
"Hmph, you think I covet your Shangguan Family? If it weren’t for your despicable threats using my mother, I would rather die than stay here,"
Shangguan Xiner roared with a frosty face.
"This mouth really knows how to speak, it seems you still lack discipline. Co, slap her hard across the face!"
The middle-aged noblewoman said coldly, and imdiately one of her two maids walked over to Shangguan Xiner with a frosty expression.
Then, the maid slapped her across the face.
"Don’t!"
Jiang Yulan quickly cried out, stepping in front of Shangguan Xiner to take the slap. She was sent flying, a clear handprint appeared on half of her face, and blood seeped from the corner of her mouth.
"Mother!"
Seeing Jiang Yulan injured, Shangguan Xiner shouted sharply and rushed over to help her up.
"Mom, are you alright?" Shangguan Xiner looked at Jiang Yulan with a face full of concern.
"I’m fine, you should quickly apologize to the lady, say you’re sorry," Jiang Yulan said, holding Shangguan Xiner’s hand.
"No, I won’t apologize to this despicable woman," Shangguan Xiner glared angrily at the middle-aged noblewoman.
"Beat her, beat her hard!"
The middle-aged noblewoman’s face turned to fury, and she coldly commanded.
Slap!
Imdiately, the maid slapped again, hitting Shangguan Xiner directly in the face.
A heavy slap knocked Shangguan Xiner to the ground, and Jiang Yulan pleaded, "No, please don’t!"
"Keep beating her!"
The middle-aged noblewoman sneered, and the maid continued to slap Shangguan Xiner.
Slap, slap, slap!
The crisp sound of slaps filled the air, Shangguan Xiner’s cheeks quickly swelling, her skin cracking slightly to show streaks of blood, her mouth stained with it.
Each slap on Shangguan Xiner’s face was a stab of pain in Jiang Yulan’s heart, tears welled in her eyes, agony overwhelming.
Then, Jiang Yulan looked at the middle-aged noblewoman and crawled over, embracing the lady’s feet and said, "Madam, please have rcy, let Xiner go. I will kneel and apologize on her behalf, if you must hit soone, hit ."
"Get away, don’t dirty my body."
The middle-aged noblewoman huffed disdainfully and kicked out, knocking Jiang Yulan to the ground, her complexion ashen.
"Mom!"
Watching her mother being kicked to the ground, Shangguan Xiner cried out, her face already swollen beyond recognition, but she still tried to rush to her, only to be slapped to the ground by the maid, blood spraying from her mouth.
"Xiner!"
"Mom!"
Shangguan Xiner and Jiang Yulan lay on the ground, each crying out to the other; the scene was tragic and desolate, with the middle-aged noblewoman’s face still ice-cold.
"What is going on here?"
Suddenly, a commanding voice rang out, and a middle-aged man dressed in a magnificent robe, with resolute features and an imposing aura, walked in, his brows furrowed as he saw Shangguan Xiner and her mother Jiang Yulan lying on the ground.
"Greetings to the Clan Leader!"
Upon seeing the middle-aged man, the two maids bowed respectfully and greeted.
"What brings you here?"
The middle-aged noblewoman looked at the man indifferently and spoke. This man was none other than the Clan Leader of the Shangguan Family, Shangguan Xiong, Shangguan Xiner’s father, and the husband of the middle-aged noblewoman.
"I heard you were here, so I ca to see for myself," Shangguan Xiong spoke.
"Hmph, you seem quite concerned about this mother and daughter. Afraid I might do sothing to them, are you?"
The middle-aged noblewoman sneered at Shangguan Xiong.
"Not at all, Fei Yan, you misunderstand,"
Shangguan Xiong smiled and shook his head, then added, "What have they done to offend you?"
"Hmph, this insolent girl openly defied . If she isn’t taught a lesson, she will never know her place and doesn’t see , the lady of the Shangguan Family, in her eyes at all," the middle-aged noblewoman snorted with contempt.
