"All of you wait here, nobody goes in."
"But what are you going in for?"
"Don't ask. I'll be out in a minute."
Throwing that over his shoulder, Xiaofan pushed open the cave gate again and rushed in.
Inside the cave, the lights were starting to dim.
A faint haze of smoke drifted in the air.
If there was a raging fire in there, wasn't it really dangerous for him to go in like that?
"Oh my god."
All of a sudden, Lin Miaoke snapped back to her senses.
"What is it? Why are you all jumping at shadows?" Li San turned his head and asked.
"He… um, Dr. Song Wencheng still hasn't co out."
"Song Wencheng? Who's that?"
Song Wencheng, a man who had once saved Xiaofan's life.
Xiaofan hadn't counted on Li San and the others suddenly showing up, so he'd assud that even if they fled, they'd take Song Wencheng with them. But with how little ti they'd had to move, there was no way to take Song Wencheng along, and abandoning a doctor didn't cost them much.
If Dr. Song died here for nothing, how was Xiaofan supposed to face his lifesaver?
This guy, he was actually willing to go this far?
Lin Miaoke's heart felt a little scrambled. He seed just like that guy called Ye Xiaofan, starting to hamr away at the defenses around her heart. All these little things happening right in front of her—none of this could be faked.
Inside the cave, the Snake Head stared fixedly at the passage to the third floor. The fire had already engulfed the entire third floor, but he had nowhere left to retreat.
Maybe dying here was his only way out.
"Who—"
"So you didn't leave."
Xiaofan had co back and saw the Snake Head blocking his way.
"You even ran back in? Why?"
"Move. I can spare your life."
"But I have to kill you. I thought I had no way out, but I didn't expect you to co back and hand my last chance to live."
"So there really is a second passage here."
"You…" Seeing how sharp Xiaofan's mind was, the Snake Head couldn't help being slightly stunned. "Who the hell are you?"
"Move…"
"Why did you co back?"
"Cough, cough, cough…"
Just then, a violent fit of coughing ca from behind the Snake Head.
Soone else was still alive.
He turned around and, to his surprise, saw not one but two living people.
"These people really are hard to kill. This one must be Dr. Song. Hm? Don't tell you…" The Snake Head suddenly understood sothing and looked back at Xiaofan with a bit of surprise.
At the sa ti, Xiaofan was staring anxiously at Dr. Song and the woman slung over his shoulder.
The woman's face was pale, her lips purple. Clearly she'd passed out from the smoke.
"Hahaha, so the reason you were able to hide here all this ti was because he was running interference for you. Damn it. We really dropped the ball."
Xiaofan stepped forward, completely ignoring him.
"Stop. Take one more step and I'll kill them."
The Snake Head drew his pistol and aid it at Song Wencheng. He didn't dare use explosives; if he blew this cave again, it would co down on them.
As long as he had Song Wencheng under control, he'd win.
Aiming at Song Wencheng, the Snake Head's lips curled in a victorious grin. He turned his head, wanting to shout at Xiaofan…
'Whoosh.'
In that split second as he turned his head and turned it back again—
A blur flickered in front of his eyes. The guy had vanished from where he was, and when he slowly turned his head, he saw that Xiaofan had already gotten around him and was striding quickly toward Song Wencheng.
The Snake Head's face was full of horror. The scariest part was that the hand he was holding the gun with—gun and all—had sohow ended up on the ground.
'Pfft.'
A jet of blood suddenly spurted from his throat, and in a completely dumbfounded daze, he collapsed to the ground.
"Really sorry. I forgot about you just now."
"Ah, it's fine. I was originally leaving with them, but then I saw this girl fall behind, so it held up a bit."
"Let's go."
"You take her out of here."
"Hm?"
"I…"
Only now did Xiaofan notice that Song Wencheng's foot was already misshapen. It must have been smashed by sothing and broken.

Those transparent glass walkways had been completely blasted to bits. Xiaofan carried the woman on one shoulder and used his other arm to support Song Wencheng, shielding them against the rock wall and guiding them safely down, letting the glass shards constantly slice into his own skin.
Outside the cave, everyone was waiting anxiously.
The explosions echoing out from inside tied everyone's hearts into knots.
"They're out."
The cave gate hadn't even opened yet when Li San, Ren Ying, and Han Shengjun hurried over.
Sure enough, within two seconds, the cave gate swung open. Three figures trailing smoke burst out safely.
Li San and Ren Ying each took one of them and kept moving them away, and Han Shengjun let out a long breath of relief.
"Everyone okay?" Lin Miaoke rushed up to ask.
"This woman needs ergency treatnt right away." Song Wencheng said imdiately. "Find a flat spot and lay her down."
"I'll help you." Lin Miaoke had studied first aid and hurried after him.
"Mm, it's dawn already." Xiaofan looked up at the fully brightened sky and spoke lightly.
"The competition…"
"Oh crap, that's today." Prompted by Li San, Xiaofan suddenly ca to.
"It starts in about half an hour. Xiaolei's holding the fort for now."
"Then that's not so bad."
"Not so bad? There are teams from all those countries and Xiaolei's there alone, and you're not worried? You've already gone this far anyway. Elder Fan's still waiting. Just finish the match and then co back to rest."
"There's no way I can make it in ti now."
"We've got a military helicopter. And you've got that badge—show that thing and nobody will dare stop you."
"All right, all right. Can I at least get so water first?"
With Song Wencheng's ergency care, the girl quickly regained consciousness, but her body was weak, and she needed to be rushed to the hospital.
When Lin Miaoke turned around, she saw a helicopter flying over, dropping a rope. And that foreign guy was actually getting ready to climb straight up the rope. Who… was he really?
"Li San…"
"Hey, Officer Lin."
"You know him?"
"Huh? You don't?"
"I—I'm seeing him for the first ti."

"He's an old friend of yours. How could you not know him? Did you see his face?"
The wind from the helicopter's spinning rotors whipped the nearby branches back and forth. On Xiaofan's face, where the mask had been cut open by glass shards, bits of the mask flapped in the wind.
"Hey, take that mask off before people get the wrong idea."
"Oh."
He casually took it off… and tossed it to Li San. Then Xiaofan suddenly sprang up and vaulted into the cabin.
