"Don't rush, what's going on? Can you speak slowly?"
An adult's disappearance is no small matter.
Li Kuo's parents are celebrities in high society, especially his father, who has developed a vast array of innovative electronic products, leading globally.
It's impossible for them to vanish without leaving a word, sothing is definitely fishy about this.
"The last ti I saw them was yesterday morning. Since they are busy with work, I didn't notice when they didn't co ho. Today, people from the company called ho asking if my dad was around. They said there was a contract to sign. I was puzzled; neither my dad's nor mom's phone could be reached. What's this all about? Later, I called the police, and they're involved in the investigation."
"Have they been acting strange lately?" Xiaofan asked again.
"Acting strange? Yes, my dad locks himself in the room as soon as he gets ho. My mom occasionally asks about my situation and my girlfriend these days. Xiaofan, sorry, I know you're really busy right now and can't find the ti, but I'm so anxious I called you anyway."
"Don't worry, we'll co over right now. Where are you?"
"I'm at ho."
"Alright."
After hanging up the phone, the four of them imdiately tossed aside their lunch boxes without tidying up and headed straight for the door.
Upon arriving at Li Kuo's house, Xiaofan and company noticed that Lin Miaoke had also arrived with colleagues.
Li Kuo's ho is large and luxurious, but Li San and the others had no mood to admire it. Although they had only known each other for a short ti, they had interacted, and everyone was good friends.
"What is it, Officer Lin?" Li Kuo imdiately approached to inquire upon seeing Lin Miaoke.
"The phone was found in your dad's car, but there's no one in the car."
It turned out that Li Kuo had tracked his parents' phones via GPS and reported to the police for help. But unexpectedly, the result was this.
"Where is the car?" Xiaofan imdiately asked, sensing the critical importance of this question.
If they could locate the vanished car, a lot of clues could be inferred.
"East of the city, about fifteen kiloters out in the suburbs." Li Kuo answered Xiaofan's question slowly, as he couldn't believe his parents would drive out to the suburbs for no reason, let alone that far.
This ans the place where the phone was found might not be the initial disappearance site. Clearly, this was a preditated event.
The police have preliminarily determined there is a high likelihood of kidnapping involved.
Kidnapping? Then it would follow with extortion? But there's another issue: if it's extortion, they should have kidnapped Li Kuo, not his father.
In other words, the motive isn't ransom, but what is it? What benefits could co from kidnapping Li Kuo's father?
Before Xiaofan could figure it out, the doorbell rang again outside.
Upon opening the door, several sharp-dressed n walked in.
"Is Mr. Li Zhongran present?"
"My dad isn't here, what's the matter?"
"Oh, this is proof from the Commission of Inquiry. We found that Li Zhongran privately used shareholder funds, so the bank needs to freeze all his accounts for further investigation. This house will have to be temporarily sealed."
"What?" Li Kuo was stunned, unable to believe how things escalated one after another.
And Xiaofan also realized that this wasn't simply a matter of disappearance; more significant issues would likely follow.
"Co to our place first," Xiaofan suggested softly.
"Okay." Li Kuo had no choice. He didn't take any belongings from the house. But as long as his parents were found, everything would go back to normal.
But, really?
A trace of anxiety crept into Xiaofan's heart. Before returning, he chatted briefly with Lin Miaoke. It was primarily about the clues she had found before investigating Li Zhongran and what this unauthorized use of shareholder funds was about.
Due to restrictions, Lin Miaoke could only share so minor clues she found, none of which were problematic. As for why Li Zhongran privately moved shareholder funds, it was beyond her jurisdiction. But now that a case has been opened, Lin Miaoke could go directly to the Commission of Inquiry to gather evidence.
And Xiaofan could go there himself too, as Ye Dahe was his uncle. If he sought his help, things might expedite.
Saying this, Xiaofan instructed Li San and the others to take Li Kuo to Chen i'Er's place while he drove to his uncle's location.
However, when he called, his uncle was in a eting, obviously a busy ti for him, so Xiaofan had to wait in the reception room for quite a while.
Iron-faced Judge Ye Dahe wasn't called that for nothing, even when facing his nephew, he wouldn't divulge materials to Xiaofan, since it was confidential.
Of course, Xiaofan's attempts at persuasion weren't easy.
"Xiaofan, you should go back. I can't tell you about the matter you're curious about."
"Uncle, I understand your principles and fairness, but sotis you can't be so inflexible."
"Hey, hey, is that how you talk to your elders?" Ye Dahe said, displeased.
"Alright, alright, it's my fault. But at least tell what's going on. If I can help unveil the truth, wouldn't it save you a lot of trouble?"
"What could you possibly uncover?" Ye Dahe wasn't one to be easily persuaded.
"Why can't I investigate this? Have you forgotten my abilities, or don't trust a Ye Family mber? Look, you're so busy now, and I won't exploit this knowledge for anything malicious. If I can help you find out, everyone ends up happy. Besides, you're the one making the final judgnt, not anyone else." Xiaofan reasoned earnestly.
"Hmm, that makes so sense. Alright, wait a mont..."
After weighing the pros and cons, Ye Dahe finally relented. It wasn't forsaking his principles; Xiaofan's argunt genuinely had rit.
"Take a look." Shortly after, Ye Dahe rummaged through a drawer, found a docunt, and tossed it onto the table.
Grabbing the docunt, Xiaofan quickly scanned through its contents, which left him extrely shocked.
Soone had reported that Li Zhongran had kept a mistress, spent funds on two BMWs and a house to gift her, and that the woman had already confird this?
"Uncle, I have to go." Xiaofan said as he dashed out the door.
"Hey, co back, leave the docunt here. This cheeky kid, goodness..."
