Fang Hong looked at the map in his hand filled with crosses, feeling that this ti, he's truly hit bad luck. Originally, among the seven or eight targets, the best scenario would be to hit the mark in one go, but he didn't expect himself to be lucky to that extent. However, he didn't foresee encountering the worst possibility — only after ruling out seven targets one by one did he finally arrive at the location marked as the last target on the map.
Fang Hong initially thought his luck couldn't be that bad, but reality quickly gave him a lesson. In this dangerous situation, the ti wasted naturally pushed him and the others towards even greater danger. Luck does seem to be evenly spread out; he just made a fortune but imdiately ran out of luck.
Casually crumpling the map into a ball, since it's already the last target location, he felt he wouldn't need it anymore.
Outside, the guards were hurriedly passing through the Inner Court, their footsteps chaotic, while Fang Hong hid in the darkness with bright eyes watching them run past — Wu Xiaopang and the others perford exceptionally, causing havoc in the Inner Court — judging by the guards' movents, he keenly sensed that people from the Shield of Lufu might have divided their forces.
This wasn't his demand, but the effect was remarkable. However, relatively, their situation beca more precarious.
It seems like the motivation of a few million Lycel indeed worked, as the people from the Shield of Lufu were risking their lives, though he wouldn't comfortably accept it, becoming aware that he must act faster, otherwise Wu Xiaopang and the others could suffer significant 'casualties'.
He discarded the crumpled map and walked out, along a dim corridor, bright lights at the corner ahead where three or four Hall Guard Knights stood along with an Arcanist in a purple robe, who was his final target. To be honest, he was confident he could lure away so of them, and then before they realized anything amiss and returned, he could take care of the remaining ones, with a fifty-fifty chance of success.
But he no longer had the patience for that. Fang Hong stood in the darkness, his right hand barely lifting, the electric signals emitted from neurons converted into Magic Power through Ether beams, five faint Silverlights traversing through the Magic Omnidirectional Instrunt and into the Resonance Crystal.
The crystal vibrated with its unique frequency, using this peculiar property of nature, calling forth a 'kindred' born alongside it. Hence five dim light patterns lit up in the darkness, like five eyes awakening from the dark, revealing their unique, hollow, grayish-white crystalline pupils.
Then they opened their bronze shell, extending wings thin as cicada wings, hooks automatically detached, and plunged down, wings flapping forcefully, five nimble 'Fairies' hovered in the dark with deep buzzing sounds.
Fang Hong pointed his right hand forward.
...
A violent tremor swept through the Dungeon, shaking the walls, gravel showering from the ceiling, the wooden doors of the cells creaking constantly, chains locking the doors clinking endlessly.
Under the dry straw, a large number of startled insects scattered in all directions, causing Luo Yu to watch the scene with surprise, never realizing in this confined space there were so many small creatures cohabiting with him. Air waves swept inside, raising dust, softly settling, stones dropping with quiet sounds.
He turned back, looking at Xiangzi who was lying peacefully on the bed, his hands crossed over his chest, dark eyes staring unblinkingly at the ceiling, eyelashes laden with dust, resembling a statue placed on a coffin slab; Luo Yu couldn't help but ask curiously:
"What are you doing?"
"I'm counting how much dust has fallen."
"What!?"
Luo Yu felt this was the most bizarre thing he heard all day, though in the entire day he only exchanged three sentences with Xiangzi, this being the second. The first was: "Awake?" And Xiangzi didn't answer at that ti, only blinked at him to indicate he was alive.
But after all, Xiangzi was his teammate, although absurd, Luo Yu couldn't help but ask, "Did you count clearly?" After asking, he imdiately thought his question was dumb enough, suspecting whether Xiangzi and Parker had influenced each other's intelligence.
And wondering if he too was influenced by these two?
But Xiangzi remained still, turning his head to look at him, "No, didn't count clearly."
Indeed.
Luo Yu sighed, "Won't sand get into your eyes like this?"
Xiangzi calmly closed his eyes, tears suddenly streaming out, nodding to indicate that indeed, it would.
"What's the sound outside?" Xiangzi sat up from the bed, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand as he asked.
"Don't know." Luo Yu shook his head, answering matter-of-factly.
"I guess the captain has arrived." Xiangzi replied, eyes closed and tears flowing.
"Why?"
"Intuition."
Luo Yu actually had the sa thought, but unlike Xiangzi, he wasn't one to jump to conclusions without substantial evidence. He gazed at the area filled with dust clouds; indeed, the dust was stirring and splitting to both sides, the sandy sound of steps approaching from behind, and then a figure appeared.
