Now reading: Chapter 1089 - 353: Worse Than Human Trafficking—The Dangers from Players Invade Cyberpunk, a Game novel by Pharmacist Mu Shaoai.

Olivia was already furious, and after returning from Cuba, the Killer Demon just demoted her to the Taiping Continent construction site, under the guise of grassroots training.

She thought, "I risked my life with you in Cuba, I should at least get so credit for my hard work, right?"

Though nominally she was managing thousands of people, the difference between overseeing workers and commanding ard forces is vast.

Cuba was such a success, Dragon Field is still training troops, yet you have lead this group of dust-covered workers in Taiping Continent—do you look down on ?

Now, while circling and inspecting, she saw the new intern ssing around, and her rage exploded; she went up to them and slamd a club down on the intern’s safety helt.

If they hadn’t been wearing the helt, they would at least have gotten a minor concussion from that hit.

"If you don’t want to work properly, then get out! We lack everything here except workers."

If she had said this two minutes ago, Jasieya would have responded:

"Fine! I’ll just leave!"

But now, faced with the choice between preserving her life or enduring a mont’s grievance, Jasieya could only bow her head and endure, not daring to lift her head to look at Olivia.

From her training experience in Cuba, she knew direct confrontation could easily be seen as provocation, leading to further beatings and abuse.

For soone who was trafficked here, so-called human rights are absolutely non-existent; dying is just dying.

"Olivia—what are you doing!!!"

As the saying goes, there’s always soone better—just like cats eat mice, tigers eat cats.

Almost imdiately, Fujian, who devours Fujian people, got wind of what was happening via omnipresent surveillance, seeing Olivia fiercely disciplining Jasieya, and practically sprinted over.

He stepped forward, pulling the attacked worker behind him, then angrily reprimanded Olivia,

"Who told you to hit soone!"

Olivia shrank her neck at the scolding; the person in front of her held the position of Secretary of the Taiping Continent Labor Committee. In theory, they were of the sa rank, but in reality, he was the sa kind of person as the Killer Demon, because Olivia could sll the sa scent on him.

"I... I saw her screwing around, and was afraid it would delay the construction progress... so in a fit of anger, I wanted to teach her a lesson."

"Is this how you teach soone? She’s only been at the construction site for less than half an hour; isn’t it normal for her work skills to be unrefined? You should teach her or find a skilled worker to guide her. What effect does using fists have?

As a regional worker manager, you should be a role model, leading by example. Do you think this is still the Chaotic Blade Association, using violence to forcefully oppress others?"

In the midst of reprimand, Olivia painfully shut her eyes, her head drooping lower and lower, surrounded by layers of grassroots workers, their gazes feeling like needles in the back.

Seeing soone stand up for her, Jasieya felt a surge of satisfaction, like if soone could pull out those idiots behind her and scold them all together, it would be exhilarating from head to toe.

"Apologize to this worker... um..."

Fujian then turned to look at Jasieya.

"What’s your na?"

"Lucy Gard."

Jasieya provided the fake identity given from above.

"Apologize to Lucy."

Apologize... apologize?

And in front of so many people?

Jasieya was stunned; this belligerent hag seed like a middle-tier leader here—how could she apologize to a worker who was just trafficked here?

As an agent, she was skilled in reading people, and despite Olivia being scolded like a fool, Jasieya quickly realized from the workers’ glances and whispers that this fierce woman was actually, in a way, a [big shot] of the sa level as this Fujian guy, potentially even bigger than she imagined.

How could such a big shot apologize?

In Cuba, and throughout the cyber world, all decisions made by superiors are absolutely correct, regardless of whether you agree; on the surface, you must follow, even if secretly you’re collecting materials to overthrow or prepare to eliminate your leader.

Apologizing is absolutely impossible, never in this lifeti.

Now, you’re asking her to apologize publicly, isn’t that rubbing her face in the dirt?

"Comrade Jasieya, I was impulsive and couldn’t resist hitting you—I’m truly sorry."

Under Jasieya’s stupefied gaze, Olivia straightened up and bowed to her.

"I will certainly reflect thoroughly and never make the sa mistake again, please forgive ."

A buzz ran through the workers, murmuring among themselves, though they weren’t particularly surprised; evidently, prior to Olivia, nurous leaders had been pressured by the Committee into apologizing to them.

This.... seems to be a norm.

"Lucy, can you forgive her?"

"Ah? Uh... yes, I forgive... forgive her."

Jasieya wished for no more trouble, simply hoping to get past the event quickly and reduce her presence.

"That’s good. Soon, I’ll have the district committee escort you around to familiarize with the work. If you don’t understand sothing, feel free to ask. You’re still young, work hard to learn the entire construction process—then you can upgrade your work scope, with further improved treatnt."

Until Fujian escorted Olivia away, Jasieya didn’t quite recover from the situation.

Though, as an agent, she shouldn’t ponder on these trivial matters, just complete the mission; humans aren’t machines, and when faced with things beyond comprehension, they inevitably ponder the reasons and seek answers.

She felt that, compared to uncovering Horizon Corporation’s scandal, perhaps the answer to this question is Taiping Continent’s current most valuable treasure.
