"Suspicious... really suspicious!"
Rebecca, who regularly cos to Horizon Bar for a drink, noticed that today's atmosphere was slightly different from before.
Sitting on a high stool with her feet not touching the ground, she hugged a large glass of orange juice, biting the straw, while her attention was fixed on the rcenaries around her.
They held a bunch of colorful paper and plastered them everywhere, chatting and laughing with everyone, turning the bar into a complete ss, and the owner wasn't coming out to stop them...
Suspicious... really too suspicious...
"Hey, bro... bro!"
Full of questions, she wanted to ask Pira, but after calling him several tis, he didn't respond. When she turned her head, she found Pira sitting in a corner of the bar talking with a lecherous grin to that silver-haired uncle, completely ignoring his sister's calls.
"Damn it!"
Feeling ignored, Rebecca stood on the stool and kicked out. If guns were allowed here, she'd really want to put another hole in that guy's ear.
Pira, who was kicked off the stool and now kneeling on the ground in an ungainly position, turned and shouted at his sister,
"Hey! What are you doing! You brat! We were discussing serious matters, and we had just gotten to the main point, don't you know!"
Natural Curl added fuel to the fire from the side,
"That's right, adult topics are heavy. A minor like you shouldn't try to butt in. If you hear it, you'll lose hope for future life. Your orange juice isn't even finished, and the children's channel's Tom and Jerry is about to start, hurry and sit at the TV table."
Rebecca instantly felt her blood boil, as if her high blood pressure were about to burst from the veins in her forehead. Yet Pira remained oblivious, eagerly snuggling up to Natural Curl after brushing the dust off himself.
"That move you just ntioned about high-speed rotation attacking three points on the plane, how is it done? Is it really possible for a human to do that? Could you teach ..."

The veins on Rebecca's head went from one to three. Rolling up her sleeves, she punched Pira from behind in the kidney, knocking him to the ground before stomping furiously,
"Die, you two perverts! You're just wasting rice living in this world!"
"Let's talk it out, let's talk it out,"
Natural Curl quickly raised his hands in surrender as Rebecca's fist was about to land on him, redirecting the bla to the injured one on the ground.
"I have the least respect for you adults full of filthy desires. Damn it, can't you watch what you say according to the occasion!"
Pira, pinned to the ground by his sister and being punched, gritted his teeth,
"Sell out your brother instantly, huh! Hakiyin, you jerk..."
After Rebecca vented her anger, Pira with a band-aid stuck on, was finally helped back onto his chair by his friends. Upon discovering what Rebecca actually wanted to ask, he felt wronged,
"Rebecca, don't you rember Little Chinatown?"
"Huh?"
"You know, those Watson District guys. Didn't they hold so big party around this ti in past years?"
"What a joke, those two things are completely different, right? Do you think I'm stupid?"
Of course, Rebecca knew about that, but Little Chinatown's New Year rely involved wearing red clothes and parading on the street with a fabric lion head.
Lacking organizational efforts from the local governnt and gangs, and with individuals forcibly atomized by capital, it's beco difficult for Asian families to hold large events. In Night City, one never knows when or where gunfire might erupt and evolve into a gun battle.
"That's normal, our celebration is the authentic Spring Festival. What you've seen before were all pirated versions."
Natural Curl showed disdain for any Chinatown-like thing, thinking that it might be just like General Tso's Chicken, veered off a long ti ago.
As for what's authentic or not, he couldn't say. He just considered it as his wolf warrior spirit acting up.
"Anyway, in a few days, there will be lots of delicious food, beautiful sights, and fun activities. Don't forget to invite everyone here."
"In the bar?"
"Of course, the whole city. We've prepared lots of activities, rember to co."
"How much money will you spend on that?"
Natural Curl didn't know, but since he wasn't spending his own money, he wasn't concerned.
"Money is earned to be spent, otherwise, would you let it rot in your hands?"
Though it wasn't wrong to say that, Rebecca still felt there was sothing unusually eerie about the bar's current atmosphere.
Red Chinese paper cuttings and couplets were plastered on the bar door, seemingly pasted upside down. Red cloth bundles of peppers hung under the flashy disco lights in the dance floor, and the explosive dance rock had turned into "Congratulations and Happy Prosperity" and "Good Luck Cos." Even those two maids had swapped their week-old EVA pilot suits for northern floral jackets.
A strange mix of rustic and cyber vibe was inexplicably fused together, looking awkward no matter how you saw it.
As they put it—abstract.
However, Nina didn't particularly dislike these big red and green jackets. They're warm and comfortable to wear in winter, although not suitable for wearing while working. But at least it's much better than that non-breathable leather suit. Every night when she took it off, it was drenched in sweat, making her feel like she just walked out of water.
After delivering drinks, she quietly approached her sister from behind, holding a tray and asked,
"New Year... New Year... Nia, what do you think New Year is? I feel like it might be super lively."
"New Year is just a new year."
The sister expertly wiped the remaining wine stains on the table with a cloth, carefully avoiding getting any dirt on her coat.
