~Azure S. POV~
[Johto Region, Next Day, Icy Path – Blackthorn City]
The biting wind finally released its grip as we stumbled out of the Ice Path, the sun a welco warmth on my face. Pikachu, perched on my shoulder, shivered once more before nuzzling into my neck, his tiny electric sparks providing a comforting heat.
Eevee, ever the pragmatist, shook off the clinging remnants of ice and snow, her bushy tail swishing with renewed energy. Even Celebi, usually so buoyant, seed relieved to be out of the frigid cave, its tiny wings fluttering with increased vigor.
Blackthorn City stretched before us, a tapestry of terracotta roofs and bustling marketplaces nestled between soaring, jagged peaks. This was it, the next step on our journey through the Johto region, the next Gym Badge within reach.
Clair, the Dragon Master, awaited our challenge. But she'll have to wait first since sleeping in Icy Path wasn't exactly comforting at all.
Smiling and stretching my limbs, I said happily, my voice ringing with excitent, "Alright, team! Blackthorn City! Let's get to enjoy ourselves, and then… Ran! I heard there's a place here with the best ran in Johto."
Pikachu squeaked in agreent, while Eevee barked excitedly. Celebi, always the silent observer, simply pulsed with a cheerful green light.
My other team mbers, safely contained in their Poké Balls, no doubt shared our enthusiasm. That and I need so noodles freshly made in my system than the usual instant noodles I've had for the last few days.
The aroma of grilling at and exotic spices filled the air as we made our way through the city. The energy was palpable, a buzz of anticipation that was thicker than the perpetual mist clinging to the mountains.
Moving forward, we saw a noodle stand nearby as we proceeded to go ahead and order so bowls for us to eat. As we ate, we got the chance to see what Blackthorn City had in store for us enjoying its culture.
Blackthorn City sprawled before us, nestled in a valley ringed by jagged, volcanic peaks. It was a stark contrast to the icy labyrinth we'd just traversed. The city was a mix of old and new, with traditional wooden houses alongside more modern buildings, all connected by winding cobblestone streets.
The air humd with a quiet energy, a sense of ancient power that sent a pleasant shiver down my spine. My goal was clear entering this town: challenge Clair, the Dragon-Type Gym Leader, and earn the Rising Badge.
But I had ti. I needed to strategize. Clair was known for her powerful Dragonair and Kingdra, and I wanted to be prepared.
So, before diving into the Gym, I decided to explore Blackthorn City and soak in its atmosphere for the day. I announced, clapping my hands together, "Alright, team! Let's do so sightseeing! Maybe we can find soplace interesting to train."
Celebi, who had been hovering patiently beside , chirped happily. It zipped around my head, a shimring green blur, before settling comfortably on Eevee's back. I laughed lightly as Eevee pouted being a mount for Celebi, but then again, how many Pokémon out there can say they've been a ride for a Mythical Pokémon?
My other Pokémon were eager to stretch their legs after being confined in their Poké Balls for so long. Skarmory, with its tallic plumage gleaming in the sunlight, soared overhead, circling the city before landing gracefully on a nearby rooftop.
Houndoom, a nacing figure with its curved horns and fiery breath, stalked ahead, sniffing the air with a low growl. Ampharos, its bioluminescent tail glowing softly, lumbered along beside , its gentle nature a comforting presence.
Quagsire waddled along enthusiastically, occasionally stumbling over the uneven cobblestones, while Togepi, nestled safely in my backpack, chirped its support. Mismagius floated silently behind her, her mischievous eyes scanning the surroundings.
Blackthorn City was a treasure trove of sights and sounds. We wandered through the bustling marketplace, admiring the stalls overflowing with berries, herbs, and Pokémon accessories.
The aroma of freshly baked Lava Cookies filled the air, tempting my stomach. I bought a handful for the team, and even Houndoom seed to appreciate the sweet treat, despite her intimidating appearance.
We passed the Dragon Shrine, a towering structure of carved stone depicting ancient dragons and legendary trainers. The air around it thrumd with a tangible energy, and I felt a sense of reverence as I gazed upon the intricate carvings.
I promised myself I'd co back later for a more in-depth exploration if they allowed inside. Further into the city was the Move Deleter and the Move Tutor, both essential services in the world of Pokémon Training.
I guess the ga counterparts exist here. But I wouldn't visit them as I know how to tutor and learn how to delete them.
As we wandered, I noticed several trainers sparring in the city's training grounds. One battle caught my eye.
A young trainer with fiery red hair was facing off against a more experienced-looking woman with a stern expression wearing a cape. The red-haired trainer commanded a powerful Magmar, while the woman countered with a strong Dragonair.
Intrigued, I stopped to watch how it would conclude. The battle was intense, with both Pokémon unleashing powerful attacks.
Magmar rained down fire blasts, while Dragonair countered with Surf and Dragon Pulse. The red-haired trainer fought passionately and determinedly, but the woman's Dragonair was too strong seemingly belonging to the Dragon Tar Class.
Eventually, Magmar succumbed to a powerful Hyper Beam, collapsing onto the ground, defeated. The red-haired trainer rushed to Magmar's side, a look of concern on his face, muttering thanks.
He returned Magmar to its Poké Ball and thanked it for its efforts. Curiously, I said, approaching the trainer, "Tough break. You fought well."
He looked up, surprised. He said, a hint of disappointnt in his voice, "Thanks. She's strong. I need to train my Magmar more."
Curiously, I asked his na as he reminded of soone, "What's your na?"
Turning around, he grinned as he introduced himself proudly jabbing a thumb to himself, "I'm Flint and Ace Trainer from Sinnoh with my friend Volkner traveling too. I'm trying to be the strongest Fire Type Specialist!"
Ah. No wonder he reminds of soone with his hairstyle. Suppose that makes sense, as with Volkner, around his best friend isn't too far off.
Blinking sowhat surprised to et a future Elite Four mber, I replied in a friendly tone, eyeing Flint, "I'm Azure. I'm aiming for the Rising Badge."
Flint looked a bit surprised as he smiled, wishing luck as he began to leave, "Oh, Clair? Well, good luck! She's tough! I've battled her and got toasted."
Chuckling at his fire pun, I nodded my head in understanding as I replied sheepishly, "Yeah, I know. That's why I'm here: to see the city before challenging her."
Flint nodded his head, grinning as we then departed as he said confidently, "Really? Well, this city is known for its Dragon-type Pokémon. There's even a Dragon Tar's House over there. Why don't you visit it? Maybe you can learn more about Dragon-types so you can be prepared for Clair."
I shook my head at the offer, as I'm confident in my skills. I replied confidently as Flint turned to leave towards the Pokémon Center, "Nah. I already know a lot about Dragons, but thanks for the heads up."
Flint simply nodded as he left the area. With that, we continued our day, searching around Blackthorn City.
Blackthorn City was a fascinating blend of the old and the new. Ancient stone buildings stood alongside modern shops, and the air humd with a potent mix of tradition and progress.
We strolled through the bustling marketplace, marveling at the exotic wares and the vibrant energy of the locals. Pikachu, ever the charr, managed to snag a few Poffins from a kindly old vendor. Eevee, predictably, was more interested in the latest grooming products for to groom her.
We spent the better part of the morning exploring Blackthorn's unique architecture, admiring the fusion of natural rock and sturdy timber, the cascading waterfalls that snaked through the city, and the robust trainers who carried themselves with a quiet strength. The air was thick with the scent of pine and crisp mountain winds.
As we andered through a quieter, more residential district, admiring the ticulously maintained gardens, a voice cut through the murmur of the city, "Well, well, if it isn't Azure Sky. Last I heard, you were still scrambling through Cianwood. You certainly took your sweet ti getting here."
I turned, a familiar smirk playing on my lips. Leaning against a gnarled oak tree, arms crossed, was Karen.
Her dark eyes, usually shadowed by a mischievous glint, were fixed on with an intensity that promised trouble. She was dressed in her usual sleek, dark attire, radiating an aura of dangerous elegance.
Karen, one of the future Elite Four, was a trainer I admired greatly because of her quotes in gas. But this version of her is different, as she followed the Masked Man even though it should be over because of my intervention.
Pikachu tensed on my shoulder, ready, while Eevee subtly moved closer to my leg. Karen's gaze swept over them, then landed on my belt, where my Poké Balls hung for all to see.
Her eyes narrowed on one. She observed, a knowing smile playing on her lips, but paused, then pushed off the tree, sauntering closer as she said, "I see you've got a Houndoom now. Interesting. I've always had a soft spot for them myself. Powerful, cunning, and loyal. A rare combination. Tell , does yours have Flash Fire?"
My heart gave a little skip. Karen's signature Pokémon was her Houndoom, a magnificent beast known for its raw power and speed. This was going to be interesting.
I confird, a competitive thrill beginning to hum beneath my skin, "She does. She's a formidable partner."
Karen's smile widened, a challenge in her eyes. She declared in a confident tone, "Good. Mine does too. Which ans any Fire-type attacks would only serve to empower the opponent. What do you say, Azure? Care to see whose Houndoom reigns supre?"
Hearing her say that, I was almost tempted to agree on the spot. But unfortunately, I shook my head as I explained calmly, "As much as it would be great to kick your butt again… I'm afraid I'll have to take a rain check here. I must deal with Clair, the cousin of Lance… it ain't gonna be pretty…"
Karen blinked as she grinned, dropping her challenge as she chuckled at my misery and misfortune, revealing her Rising Badge, "Hahaha! Oh, that's just too good to hear! I've already gotten my Badge from her, and missing 2 Badges left. But I can see you already have enough woman problems."
I groaned as she laughed at my situation. Karen turned to leave as she stifled a victorious laugh as she declared in a confident tone, "I suppose we can have our scores settled in the big Stage Azure… in the Tenth Pokémon League Tournant as I defeat you for the whole world to see you beneath my heels."
Taking a turn, she finally left as I chuckled at her claims as I muttered to myself, "Talk about an arrogant woman. But I suppose that fits her, Dark Type the being vicious."
Helplessly shaking my head, it seems like this year's Pokémon League Tournant is being held at the Indigo Plateau is gonna be quite fierce without the Masked Man antagonizing around. I like being fierce as it helps sharpen my skills.
Smirking, I announced, feeling the crisp Blackthorn air invigorate once more in a determined tone as my team listened, "Alright, team! One more look around the city, then it's ti to prepare. The Pokémon League isn't going to conquer itself."
And as I looked out at the majestic peaks surrounding Blackthorn, I knew, with absolute certainty, that we were ready for whatever challenges lay ahead. My journey through Johto had shaped , but these final battles, against trainers like Karen, Will, Silver, and Gold, had truly sharpened my resolve.
The Indigo Plateau awaited. But first…
I gotta settle a family feud with a Dragon Master Gym Leader first…
Oh joy… Sigh.
Sighing out loud, I see a girl with purple hair and dark skin climb up trees with a bunch of Dragon Tars after her. Raising an eyebrow, one of them yelled tiredly, "Iris! Please co out of the tree, Dragon Master Drayden has co over!"
I blinked, a bit surprised hearing that. Right… Iris is born here in Johto in the Pokémon Adventures series.
Climbing up the tree, she shouted back stubbornly declared, "No way! I'll beco the Dragon Master here!"
Hearing this, I turned to leave, helplessly shaking my head. Seems like I'll head for another place to train in peace as I muttered, "Jezz… what a kid."
Suddenly, I felt a pair of eyes staring at . I didn't turn as I heard so yelling from her direction at soone, "I HEARD THAT!!"
... Yeah. Soone else… ti to move on.
