~Third POV~
[Sinnoh Region, Morning, Route 204 - Lodge]
The salt-thick air of Canalave City had always felt like a beginning, a gateway to the unknown. But as the sun dipped below the horizon on the day the decision was made, that sa air felt heavy, saturated with the gravity of a looming apocalypse.
Team Galactic's shadow had stretched across the Sinnoh region, reaching from the industrial heights of Veilstone to the ancient, sacred waters of the three lakes. The Galactic Bomb—a device of such malevolent engineering it could turn the cradles of life into barren craters—was set to detonate in a week.
One week to save the world. One week to stop the evaporation of history.
The pact had been made in the quiet, dusty halls of the Canalave Library. The group would split. The four of them—the energetic Pearl, the stoic Diamond, the noble Platinum, and the mysterious, veteran traveler Azure—would divide their strength.
It was the only way. To stay together was to forfeit two of the three lakes to Cyrus's ambition. But logic did little to soothe the sting of isolation that greeted them the following morning…
*Chirp-chirp*
Pearl woke up to the sll of cedar and the distant, rhythmic chirping of Kricketot outside the lodge on Route 204. For a mont, the fog of sleep allowed him to forget. He rolled over, expecting to hear the soft, rhythmic snoring of Diamond or the sound of Platinum shuffling her travel guides.
Instead, there was only the silence of the forest. He called out, his voice sounding thin in the empty room, "Chimler? Chatler?"
His Infernape, Chimler, let out a low, empathetic huff from the corner, his head-fla flickering with a subdued orange glow, "Infer…"
Chatler, his Chatot, didn't offer his usual mimicry of a morning alarm; the bird simply hopped onto the bedpost, tilting his head with a solemn gaze, "Chat…"
Pearl dressed in record ti, his movents fueled by a nervous energy that usually manifested as boisterousness. Today, it felt like a frantic attempt to outrun his own thoughts. He hurried down the stairs of the lodge, his boots thumping against the polished wood.
In his mind's eye, he saw the lobby as it should have been. He would be the first one down, pacing like a caged Luxray. Azure would already be there, leaning against a pillar, his Pikachu and Eevee watching Pearl with amused expressions.
Then, Platinum would descend with the grace of a princess, offering a polite morning greeting. Finally, Diamond would stumble down, rubbing his eyes, likely with a half-eaten rice ball already in hand.
Pearl reached the bottom step and skidded to a halt. The lobby was empty. A lone receptionist nodded to him, but the chairs by the fireplace—where they had sat and planned their journey through Eterna Forest—were vacant.
He sat on the edge of a velvet armchair, pulling his Pokédex from his pocket. It was a sleek, high-tech piece of equipnt, a bond forged in plastic and circuitry. Usually, this was the ti of day when the device would start its rhythmic ping-ping-ping, signaling that his companions were within range, their digital signatures syncing automated updates of their progress.
He stared at the screen. The proximity sensor remained dark.
The 'Group Status' icon was greyed out. Pearl whispered to himself, his voice cracking, "It's just a tool… It's just a machine that tells where people are."
But he knew better. That beeping was the heartbeat of their friendship. It was the sound of safety. It ant he wasn't alone in a world that felt increasingly hostile. He waited, staring at the screen until his vision blurred…
*Drip*
A single tear hit the glass, refracting the light of the morning sun into a thousand jagged rainbows. He wiped his eyes aggressively with his sleeve, standing up so fast the chair creaked, uttering, "Stop it, Pearl. You've got a job to do. Lake Valor is waiting. Commander Saturn is waiting."
He looked at his team, his expression hardening, muttering, "We're moving out. Now… let's go, guys!"
*Pop*
Pearl summoned his Tauler out from its Poké Ball, riding on its back. Pearl charged through the tall grass, his Tauros kicking up clods of earth as Chimler and Chatler climbed aboard as Tauler rushed forward.
*Rmbl*
*Rmbl*
He didn't look back. He couldn't. If he looked back, he'd see the empty road where his friends should be.
He focused on the horizon as he gritted out, "Hang on, Azelf… I'm coming, and I'm bringing a hurricane with ."

[Sinnoh Region, Canalave City – S.S. Sinnoh]
*Swooosh*
The S.S. Sinnoh cut through the waves toward the Southern islands, leaving a trail of white foam in its wake. On the observation deck, Diamond stood with his hands gripped tightly around the cold iron railing, "Lax… Tru… Don… you guys doing okay?"
His Munchlax, Lax, was unusually still, sitting on his haunches and staring out at the horizon. Tru, the massive Torterra, stood behind Diamond like a living mountain, providing a windbreak against the biting sea spray.
Don, his Shieldon, nuzzled Diamond's leg, sensing the tectonic shift in his trainer's mood. Diamond usually found the sea peaceful. It was slow. It was vast. It moved at a pace he understood.
But today, the ocean felt like a barrier, a wall of water thousands of feet deep, separating him from the people who made him feel whole. He closed his eyes and tried to imagine the scene back in Canalave, or on the road.
He could almost hear Pearl's voice, sharp and commanding in his head, 'Dia! Stop eating and pay attention! We've got three minutes to get to the ship!'
He could almost see Platinum's small, determined smile as she mastered a new battle tactic. He could feel Azure's steady presence, the unspoken reassurance that no matter how bad things got, a champion was watching their backs.
Diamond pulled his Pokédex out. He held it up, hoping that sohow, the signal might reach further over the open water.
He waited for the chirp. He waited for the little green light that ant Pearl was complaining about sothing nearby…
Nothing.
Just the roar of the engines and the cry of Wingull overhead.
Diamond murmured, "It's so quiet…"
He had always been the quiet one of the group, the observer. But he realized now that he only enjoyed the silence because it was frad by the noise of his friends. Without them, the silence wasn't peace; it was a void.
The realization hit him with the force of a Giga Impact…
*Drip*
The tears didn't roll down his cheeks; they welled up and spilled over, hot and heavy. He leaned his forehead against the cold railing, his shoulders shaking. He wasn't just a boy on a ship; he was a guardian heading toward Lake Verity to face a cult of lunatics, and for the first ti in his life, he felt truly, terrifyingly small.
*HONK*
The S.S. Sinnoh docked at the southern port. Diamond stepped off the gangplank, his backpack heavy with supplies.
He looked at the path toward his ho, toward the lake where it all started. He took a deep breath, the scent of the forest filling his lungs. He whispered to Tru, "I'm not as fast as Pearl… But I won't be moved. Not by Team Galactic. Not by anyone."

[Sinnoh Region, Route 211 – Hotel]
*Wooosh*
The air on Route 211 was crisp, carrying the scent of the snow that draped the peaks of Mt. Coronet. Inside the hotel, the atmosphere was sterile and quiet.
Platinum sat at a long, mahogany dining table. In front of her was a spread of breakfast fit for a noble—fresh fruit, artisanal bread, and steaming tea. She sat perfectly upright, her posture a testant to years of grooming, but her fork remained untouched.
Beside her, Azure sat with his Pikachu perched on his shoulder and an Eevee nestled in his lap. His third companion, a Pichu (w), was peeking out from the collar of his jacket. Azure was eating, his movents efficient and calm, but his eyes were constantly scanning the room, never quite losing the edge of a seasoned combatant.
Platinum looked at the empty chairs across from her. She said softly, her voice echoing in the large dining hall, "This is where Pearl would be lecturing us on the importance of a high-protein breakfast for the journey ahead. And Diamond… Diamond would have finished his plate and would be eyeing mine."
She looked down at her Pokédex resting on the white tablecloth. Throughout their journey, the device had been a constant companion. It was more than a gift from Professor Rowan; it was their link.
Every ti it beeped, it was a reminder that they were a team. It beeped when they found a new Pokémon, it beeped when they entered a new town, and it beeped when they were close to one another…
Now, it sat like a dead stone. Platinum admitted, her eyes shimring, "I find myself waiting for the sound… I find myself holding my breath, thinking that if I listen hard enough, I'll hear the signal. The sound of... us."
She reached out, her fingers trembling as she touched the cold casing of the device. She added, "But it won't beep today, will it?"
Azure paused, a piece of fruit halfway to his mouth. He looked at the young heiress and saw the cracks in her composure.
He had seen many things in his life—but the raw grief of a child losing her safety net was always the hardest to witness. Azure said quietly, "No, Lady Platinum. It won't. Not today. And likely not for a few days."
Platinum bit her lip, but the sob escaped anyway. She lowered her head, her long hair veiling her face as she wept.
It wasn't just the fear of Team Galactic; it was the sudden, sharp transition from childhood companionship to the lonely burden of a savior.
Azure didn't try to stop her. He knew that grief was a process, a shedding of the old self to make room for the warrior that was about to be born.
Azure said calmly, his voice softening, "Take your ti. I'll be outside. The mountains are calling, and we have preparations to make."
He whistled low, and his Gengar erged from the shadow beneath the table. The Ghost Pokémon looked at Platinum with a rare expression of sympathy before following Azure out the door.

[Sinnoh Region, Route 211 – Hotel (Outside)]
Outside the hotel, the wind whipped across the rugged terrain of Route 211. Azure stood in a clearing, the gray stone of the mountain looming over him like an ancient titan. He felt the weight of his task.
He wasn't just a bodyguard; he was the insurance policy. If the three lakes fell, he was the one who had to stand against the tide. Gengar floated beside him, her crimson eyes scanning the periter as she asked curiously, "Is she going to be okay?"
Azure replied, looking back at the hotel, "She's a Berlitz. She has a spine of tempered steel. She just needs to mourn the 'yesterday' before she can face 'tomorrow.' But for us… We can't afford to wait."
Azure reached into his bag and pulled out three heavy, tallic objects that humd with latent energy: a Protector, an Electirizer, and a Magmarizer. He clicked three Pokéballs, releasing a trio of powerhouses.
*POP*
His Alpha Rhydon appeared first, the ground shaking under its imnse weight. Then ca his Electabuzz and Magmar, the air around them instantly crackling with electricity and shimring with heat.
Azure said calmly, his voice projecting over the wind, "The road to Snowpoint is frozen and treacherous. And the temple… the temple holds a power that doesn't respect the weak. It's ti you three pushed past your limits."
Magmar let out a guttural roar, the flas on its back flaring into a brilliant white-hot, "Magmarr! (About ti!)"
*SLAM*
Electabuzz slamd its fists together, arcs of yellow lightning dancing between its horns, and roared, "Buuuuz! (Heh! Ti to power up!)"
Both were ready, their bodies longing for the next stage of their existence. Rhydon, however, hesitated. It shifted its weight, its rocky hide grinding. It had evolved recently during the battle with Byron, and it still felt the strangeness of its own increased mass.
It looked at the Protector in Azure's hand with a sense of trepidation. Azure walked up to the massive Pokémon and placed a hand on its snout, explaining, "I know it feels fast, Rhydon. But the world is moving faster. I need your strength to be absolute. I'll be with you every step of the way. Trust ."
The Rhydon closed its eyes, let out a deep, vibrating huff, and nodded, "Rhyy… (Very well. I'll trust you.)"
Azure smiled as he said, "Good."
He tossed the items. The Electirizer hit Electabuzz, the Magmarizer hit Magmar, and Azure pressed the Protector against Rhydon's chest.
For a heartbeat, there was silence…
*FLASH*
Then, a blinding explosion of white evolution energy erupted, illuminating the mountainside like a fallen star. The transformation was violent and magnificent.
Electabuzz's silhouette stretched, its arms thickening into massive pylons, its twin tails whipping behind it like high-voltage cables. Magmar's body expanded, its snout elongating into a cannon-like shape, its skin toughening into a volcanic shell. Rhydon grew even more massive, orange plates of specialized armor knitting themselves into its hide, its drill-horn spinning with enough centrifugal force to shatter diamonds.
As the light faded, three new forms stood in the clearing: Electivire, Magmortar, and Rhyperior.
Electivire let out a thunderous cry, grabbing its two tails and sparking them together to create a localized EMP, "ELECTRIVIREEE!!! (I FEEL THE POWER…!!!)"
Magmortar raised its arm-cannons, the air shimring as it vented excess heat, "MAGMORTARRRR!! (I BRING THE FIRE POWER HERE!!)"
*SLAM*
Rhyperior simply slamd its tail into the earth, causing a tremor that could be felt all the way back at the hotel, "Rhyyy… (Hmm… I could get used to this.)"
Azure whispered, checking his Arc Phone, "Incredible… you all powered up."
Azure smiled, seeing his Pokémon get used to their new forms. He quickly checked the Pokedex info about his team on his Arc Phone.
[Rhyperior the Drill Pokémon. Rhyperior is even stronger than Rhydon, although its brain structure is smaller. It can insert rocks and boulders into its arms through the holes in its hands and fire them as projectiles. Occasionally, it will insert and fire Geodude or Roggenrola by accident.
Rhyperior has a very hard carapace; it can survive volcanic eruptions, cannot be scratched even by a masterwork sword, and deflects most incoming attacks. By parrying certain attacks, Rhyperior can throw its opponent off balance before it drills into the foe. Rhyperior lives far up in the mountains.]
[Electivire, the Thunderbolt Pokémon. Electivire is said to have the best electrical-energy output of all Electric-type Pokémon and has very impressive physical strength. Electivire is known to be recklessly careless regarding enemy attacks. The tips of its tails, which generate electricity, shock opponents on contact with over 20,000 volts. It can also electrify its punches by gripping onto its tails.
Blue sparks fly between its antennae as its electric charge amplifies. It thumps its chest when excited, causing thunder and sparks to fly around it. The voltage it makes can increase when it is battling. The amount of electric energy it can produce depends on Electivire's pulse. Electivire usually feeds off electric currents, but can also eat fruits from trees. A single Electivire can power a large city for an entire year.]
[Magmortar, the Blast Pokémon. When Magmortar prepares to shoot fire from its hands, its claws can disappear into its skin, forming a pressurized cannon. It blasts fireballs of over 3,600 °F (2,000 °C), easily lting through iron and burning opponents to a blackened crisp. However, Magmortar avoids this tactic when hunting prey.
Magmortar increases its body temperature by inhaling deeply, increasing the fire burning with its belly. When firing, its body can turn into a whitish hue from the intense heat. Its arm starts lting when it fires a whole barrage. Magmortar is used in so factories to process tal. It lives in volcanic craters, with a single pair of male and female Magmortar occupying one.]
Azure smirked as he muttered, seeing the changes in their abilities, "Solid Rock and Motor Drive just as I expected. We're getting there. But we're not done yet."
He reached into a hidden pocket of his vest, his fingers brushing against three Ultra Balls. Inside were the titans of Hoenn: Regirock, Regice, and Registeel.
Azure muttered, his eyes narrowing, "Snowpoint Temple. Regigigas is waiting. And I'm going to need the King of Titans if we're going to stop what's coming."
He glanced at his Arc Phone again…
*BEEP*
A quick ssage from Celebi—conveyed through a strange, shimring icon on the screen—confird that the Colossal Pokémon still slept.
But for how long?
Team Galactic wouldn't stop at the lakes. They wanted a new world, and to build one, they would need the power that moved the continents.
*Creek*
The door to the hotel creaked open. Platinum stepped out, her face pale but her eyes clear. She had changed into her heavy winter gear, her scarf wrapped tightly against the cold, to begin traveling. Behind her, Empoleon and Rapidash stood ready, their presence a silent vow of protection.
She looked at Azure's new evolved Pokémon, her eyes widening slightly at the sheer raw power emanating from them. She said, her voice steady, "They look… formidable."
Azure replied, recalling the three giants back into their balls to save their energy for the climb, "They're ready. Are you?"
Platinum looked toward the north, where the peaks of Mt. Coronet pierced the clouds, leading the way to the frozen wastes of Snowpoint. She thought of Pearl, likely already racing toward Lake Valor. She thought of Diamond, drifting toward the silent depths of Lake Verity.
She reached into her pocket and pulled out her Pokédex. She didn't look for a signal this ti. She simply gripped it tight, using it as a focal point for her resolve.
Platinum said, her voice ringing with the authority of her lineage, "The lakes are the heart of Sinnoh… And I will not let that heart be stilled. Let's go, Azure. We have a Gym Leader to convince and a temple to wake."
Azure nodded, a small, grim smile playing on his lips, and replied happily, "That's the spirit, my lady."
He looked up at the sky. Sowhere, miles apart, three other young trainers were looking at that sa sky, feeling the sa weight, and fighting the sa fear. They were no longer just kids on a journey; they were the four pillars holding up a crumbling world.
As they began the trek into the mountain pass, the silence of the Route was finally broken. It wasn't the beep of a Pokédex, but the crunch of boots on snow and the determined breath of those who refused to give up.
The countdown to the Galactic Bomb had begun.
Seven days.
The Sinnoh region held its breath.
*WOOOSH*
The wind howled as Azure and Platinum entered the first cavern of Mt. Coronet. The darkness swallowed them, but Azure's Magmortar (released for warmth) provided a steady, flicking light. Azure looked at his Arc Phone one last ti. He thought about the world he had co from—a world where these were just gas and stories. He looked at the trembling but determined girl beside him.
This wasn't a ga. The cold was real.
The fear was real. And the power humming in his Pokéballs was enough to reshape the earth. Azure said calmly, his voice echoing in the cave, "Stay close to , Platinum… The real fight starts now."
And in the silence of the mountain, the only sound was the steady, rhythmic beating of four hearts, miles apart, yet perfectly in sync. The Pokédexes might have been silent, but the bond they represented was louder than any bomb.

A/N: A heads up, I'll only be focusing on Platinum's portion for when the group is separated, as things will go like the plot to a degree. There'll be changes when the ti cos, as to why Azure chose to go to Platinum's path, but till then, hope you guys like the chapter!
