Now reading: Chapter 86: Power Grows Where Gratitude Flows! from Pokémon: Ascension Trainer System, a Action novel by PokePals.

In the world of Pokémon, the most commonly known and widely recognized psychic ability is "Telekinesis." In fact, to the average person, psychic power is synonymous with telekinesis.

But in truth, several other extraordinary powers exist in this world—docunted in rare records and ancient texts—including Dragon Force, Aura, Viridian Power, and even the mysterious Power of Bonds.

Compared to telekinesis, which has the lowest threshold for awakening and is the most accessible of all abilities, powers like Aura and Viridian Power are far more niche—and far more elusive.

Though these two powers are incredibly potent, the number of people who have ever awakened them is so few that even the Association of Psychic Users—an organization ford by psychic-powered individuals—has only minimal data on them.

That leads to a key problem: even if soone does awaken such rare powers, they have no idea how to train or strengthen them systematically.

Telekinesis is directly linked to one's soul strength and ntal focus. As such, training it is relatively straightforward—thods like ditation can enhance one's spirit and, by extension, their telekinetic ability.

But Aura and Viridian Power are different. They are not tied to the soul or ntal strength directly. These forces exist as independent energy streams within a psychic user's body.

To enhance them, you need specific and compatible training techniques. And when Ash awakened both of these rare powers, he searched the internet extensively for clues.

He found almost nothing.

ntions of Aura and Viridian Power were re footnotes in obscure forums or fragnts in dusty old archives. Any guidance on how to cultivate them? Nonexistent.

Still, when Ash was researching how to awaken psychic powers, he ca across information suggesting that ditation—especially when paired with physical training—had a significant effect on awakening or enhancing inner energy.

Later, by a twist of fate, he stumbled upon a complete version of the "All Things Listen" ditation Technique. Without hesitation, Ash adopted it as his primary thod of focus training.

He hadn't expected that his very first session—one that nearly drained his spirit to the point of collapse—would beco the mont he unknowingly knocked on death's door... and ca back with the strongest psychic talent imaginable. It had also triggered the simultaneous awakening of both his Aura and Viridian Power.

But over the last two days, Ash made a strange discovery.

The "All Things Listen" technique only seed to nurture his Aura. His Viridian Power remained unresponsive, unchanged.

Both powers were obscure and hard to find docuntation on. That he had even found one working ditation thod—even by pure luck—was sothing to be grateful for. He had no reason to be greedy.

Ash wasn't soone who chased after too much. He understood well: the more you demand, the more frustrated you beco. Be content, and you'll always find peace.

He accepted that "All Things Listen" only worked for Aura. As for Viridian Power? Then fine—he'd fall back on the most basic thod: physical training. After all, if he wanted to be a true Pokémon Trainer, he'd need a strong, durable body for future journeys and challenges anyway.

But just like how a lost item often reappears when you stop searching for it—

The mont Ash stopped fixating on how to train Viridian Power…

Sothing changed.

He encountered not one, but two spontaneous surges of power—his Viridian Power bubbling inside him like a boiling spring.

These weren't random.

Aura and Viridian Power had awakened on the sa day. Aura had a dedicated training thod. By logic, it should have grown stronger than Viridian Power by now.

But the reality was the opposite.

His Viridian Power—which had no training thod—was now far stronger than his Aura.

Why?

Ash traced the cause to two distinct monts when the power inside him surged:

The first ti had been days ago in Professor Oak's backyard. He had just copied powerful moves like [Fire Punch], [Ice Punch], [Thunder Punch], [Horn Drill], and [ga Punch] from a Nidoking. These were all advanced or elental-grade moves.

Ash had been genuinely grateful to Nidoking.

And quietly, without any expectation of return, he had gifted it a bit of his [Source Cleansing]—a blessing derived from his Viridian Power.

Imdiately afterward, his power had surged.

Ash had speculated back then: Does transferring Source Cleansing trigger growth in my Viridian Power?

He tested the theory on several more Pokémon in the lab.

But nothing happened.

No surges. No growth.

So he assud maybe it was like leveling up in a ga—he needed enough "experience points" before a breakthrough could occur.

But then—today—it happened again.

Just after he had copied [Tackle] and [String Shot] from Caterpie, Ash had once again gifted it so [Source Cleansing] from his heart. There was no sense of transaction, no thought of reward—just gratitude.

And once again, his Viridian Power surged.

This ti, Ash connected the dots.

Both tis, the surge had followed a simple pattern:

He had copied a skill from a Pokémon and felt sincere gratitude—not transactional logic. Not "I give you this because I took sothing from you." No deals. No trades.

It was as if he saw himself picking fruit from a bountiful tree. After picking one, he turned back and watered the roots—not as paynt, but out of appreciation.

That mutual goodwill... was the key.

Caterpie had given him its skills. He had returned the gesture with a blessing.

No harm had co to Caterpie from the skill copy. But Ash still felt thankful. He didn't think of it as a fair exchange—he just wanted to give sothing back.

And that... that was when the Viridian Power boiled.

"So the secret to strengthening the Viridian Power... is expressing pure gratitude when transferring Source Cleansing?" Ash muttered thoughtfully.

He now suspected: [Selfless Kindness] was the real catalyst for growth.
