Now reading: Chapter 29 29: Pokémon: Breeding Simulator [29] from Pokémon: Breeding Simulator, a Action novel by WiseTL.

Pallet Town – Professor Oak's Laboratory

Elias slowly opened his eyes, staring up at a ceiling that felt both familiar and foreign.

"…I'm back."

His voice was hollow, his mind still clouded by the aftereffects of the simulation.

It felt as if he had truly lived through the life of "Investigator Elias."

mories flashed before his eyes—his ti spent with Gardevoir, the days training Gengar, the simple joy of feeding Eevee, and even the monts guiding Sabrina in mastering her psychic abilities.

If not for the undeniable fact that he was now lying in Professor Oak's lab, Elias might have thought he had traveled to another world again.

[Simulation complete. Calculating rewards…]

[Simulation Progress: 100% | Overall Rating: S (Gardevoir's strength is nearly unmatched)]

[Just as the traits you selected foretold, your life was brilliant yet fleeting. You were a rising star in the Kanto League, yet for Gardevoir, you willingly fell from grace, collaborating with Team Rocket.]

[Without a doubt, your devotion to Gardevoir outweighed even your regard for your own life.]

[And in return, to Gardevoir, you were her entire world—this bond between you transcended the usual relationship between Trainer and Pokémon.]

[Rewards obtained: GS Ball ×1, Psychic Powers (Beginner) ×1, w's Genetic Sequence ×1, Gardevoir's Gift ×1.]

[Choose one Pokémon to bring back from the simulation.]

[Gengar (Available), Gardevoir (Unavailable), Eevee (Unavailable).]

A translucent system interface popped up before Elias's eyes.

At first, everything seed normal—until he reached the last line.

His expression darkened.

"System… why can I only pick one Pokémon when all three were part of my team?"

Without a doubt, all three Pokémon had been by his side during the simulation.

Yet now, he could only choose one?

This felt less like a reward and more like being forced to pick one answer on a multiple-choice test in English class.

The system, still recovering from shock, quickly regained its composure and put on a pleasant tone.

[Let check… Ah! Here it is! Pokémon that are 'destined' partners in the simulation or possess special traits cannot be selected for extraction.]

[That must be the reason!]

Compared to its usual arrogant tone, the system now sounded almost… obedient.

Just monts ago, it had been flipping through the system manual, trying to figure out how to salvage this seemingly reckless host—

And then, out of nowhere, a string of [S-Rank] evaluations had nearly knocked it unconscious.

First simulation.

Random selection of traits.

S-Rank.

The system understood every individual word, yet sohow, the full sentence made no sense.

Not just to it—any of its fellow system administrators would also struggle to comprehend such an absurd result.

But it didn't matter.

The only thing the system needed to know was…

It had struck gold!

As long as it kept Elias happy, its performance trics would skyrocket.

Unaware that he had beco the system's prized host, Elias frowned slightly at the explanation.

It made sense that Gardevoir was a "destined" Pokémon and couldn't be brought out.

But… why was Eevee considered special?

Eevee was rare, sure, but compared to many other Pokémon, its market value wasn't anything outrageous.

Unable to make sense of it, Elias let out a breath and tapped on Gengar's icon.

Bringing even one of them back was good enough—after all, all three were like family to him in the simulated world.

If he could have chosen more than one, it would have been an agonizing decision.

As his fingertip touched the icon, a burst of white light filled his vision, forcing him to squint.

A second later, he felt sothing small and round appear in his palm.

Looking down, he saw a Poké Ball.

Unlike a standard red-and-white one, this ball was deep green with black accents.

A smile tugged at his lips.

He had once swapped Gengar's Poké Ball for a [Dusk Ball] to make it more comfortable.

Elias pressed the button at the center of the ball.

Boom—

A flash of red light—

And a large, round, purple figure materialized in the room.

The mont Gengar appeared, its wide eyes were swollen and bloodshot, as if it had just finished crying.

Tears still clung to the corners of its eyes.

But almost imdiately, it noticed the unfamiliar surroundings.

"Gengar?!"

Wiping its tears away, Gengar tensed, its body radiating an eerie, battle-ready aura.

If anything moved even slightly out of place, it would attack without hesitation.

Then—

A familiar voice.

"Gengar."

Elias's tone was light, as if testing whether Gengar still recognized him.

Gengar's entire body stiffened.

It turned its head chanically, and the mont it laid eyes on Elias—

Thud!

With a sudden leap, the massive ghost Pokémon sprang backward, retreating into the corner of the room.

It looked utterly shaken—equal parts terrified and disbelieving.

Then, as if realizing sothing wasn't quite right, it squinted at Elias and scrutinized him carefully, even scratching its head in confusion.

It looked like it had sothing to say but didn't know how to phrase it.

Elias knew exactly why Gengar was acting this way.

The reason was simple—

Although his appearance in reality was similar to his simulated self, there were still slight differences in the details.

Gengar's confusion was understandable.

To erase that doubt, Elias activated a small trace of his newly acquired [Psychic Powers].

His appearance might not be identical, but psychic energy—like a soul—couldn't be faked.

The mont Gengar sensed Elias's psychic signature, recognition flooded its expression.

Without hesitation, it lunged forward—

And tackled Elias in a massive hug.

Gengar might be a Ghost-type Pokémon, but it still weighed over 80 pounds.

Caught off guard, Elias was knocked onto the floor.

But as Gengar pressed its tear-streaked face against him, rubbing and nuzzling like a child reunited with its parent, Elias simply chuckled softly.

He made no attempt to push it away.

"…Welco back, Gengar."

...

After a while, Elias finally pieced together what had happened.

Gengar had blacked out the mont it witnessed Elias's death.

By the ti it regained consciousness, it had already been summoned into this world, its injuries completely healed.

The only clue it had was a blinding white light that filled the sky before it lost consciousness.

With so little information, Elias couldn't be certain whether the simulation had ended because of his death, or if Gengar had simply fainted from its own injuries before the scenario concluded.

"…I hope Gardevoir and Eevee are doing okay over there."

Sighing, Elias could only send his silent wishes their way.

He didn't believe he would ever et them again.

"Co on."

Standing up, he motioned for Gengar to follow.

"Let's go see my family in this world."

Professor Oak had been worrying about finding a starter Pokémon for him—

But now that he had Gengar, he could tell the old professor not to bother.

Besides, given his horrendous luck in the real world, Gengar was probably the only Pokémon that wouldn't mind sticking with him.
