"Wait until the Pokémon Contest and the League conference are over," Haley, who was nearby, turned her head and said. "How about visiting Pelican Town then? If we get the chance, I'll treat you guys to the real Stardrop Tea."
"Wow!" Bonnie shot her hand up high. "I want to go, I want to go!"
Serena rubbed Bonnie's head, looked at Haley, and said, "It's a deal then. After the competitions are over."
Haley nodded. She then rembered sothing and took out the Magic Hair Gel Ron had given her from her pocket.
"By the way, how are your Contest preparations going?" Haley asked, looking at Serena.
"I'm doing alright," Serena said after a mont's thought. "But I'm running out of ideas for what to perform—oh, what is that?"
"This?" Haley said, holding up the can of Magic Hair Gel. "Ron gave this to . If you want, I can share a bit with you."
Saying this, Haley opened the hair dye, took a little out, and let out her Minccino.
"Ta-da~" She copied Serena's catchphrase and sared the hair dye onto Minccino's tail.
In an instant, Minccino's long, elegant tail turned into a rainbow of colors, constantly shifting as it wagged.
"How is it?" Haley turned her head to look at Ron, who was busy cooking, and asked. "What was this called again?"
"Magic Hair Gel," Ron said, handling the ingredients while sparing so attention to look at Minccino wagging its tail. "Humans can use it too—though I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not sure how long the effect lasts."
In the ga, this accessory just needed to be placed in the inventory slot to change the character's hair color. But now that it was reality, you actually had to apply the hair dye to your head and then wait for it to wear off.
"Ahhhh! , , , let try!" Bonnie imdiately scrambled over.
"Okay." Haley held up the hair dye and asked, "Where should I put it?"
"On my bun!" Bonnie pointed to her bun, which was tied with a floral hair tie. "Right here—will it turn into a rainbow flower center?"
"Yeah, let's try it." Haley said, saring the hair dye onto Bonnie's hair.
In an instant, that small tuft of tied-up hair on Bonnie's head started shifting colors.
"It's so magical!" She jogged over to the river. "How co Pelican Town has so many amazing things! Is this a type of magic?"
Even though she hadn't been to Pelican Town yet, in Bonnie's mind right now, it was exactly like the settings in those fantasy movies. For example, wizards walking around, and all sorts of equipnt running on magic—
"If you only apply it there," Serena pointed at Bonnie and said, "when you let your hair down, won't only that one section be rainbow-colored?"
"?!!" Bonnie touched her hair, then quickly clamped her hands over her bun and said, "Then I just won't let it down!"
"But is it really okay to use this during the Performance Evaluation?" Serena said, looking at Minccino's wagging tail. "It's definitely eye-catching, but the styling feels a bit like it's stealing the spotlight."
"Really?" Haley stroked Minccino's tail. Minccino had always taken very good care of the fur on its tail, so it was extrely elegant. The smooth fur combined with the rainbow colors made it look as if a real rainbow had appeared there whenever it swayed.
"But since we're in Kalos, it should be fine, right?" Serena continued. Pokémon styling was quite popular in Kalos; there were even shops specifically for making Pokémon accessories, as well as corresponding competitions.
"Minccino~" Minccino cried out, pulling its tail to its chest and examining it repeatedly. "Minccino!"
"Do you like this styling too?"
"Minccino?" Minccino wagged its tail.
Ron turned his head to glance at Minccino, using his mind-reading skill for the first ti in a while.
"It says that even though it's pretty, it still feels like its original tail was better."
"Huh? Can Ron understand Pokémon talk?" Bonnie turned her head to look at Ron.
"Just a little bit."
It had been a while since he used this skill. As for why, aside from constantly accidentally reading other people's thoughts because of Indeedee, Indeedee was also a bit mischievous in this regard. Knowing Ron could hear them, it would deliberately think about random things. Plus, after owth arrived and beca a new translator, Ron hardly ever used it unless absolutely necessary.
"I see. It must be magic, too." Bonnie said, sitting down at the table and slling the aroma wafting from the pot. "Your cooking is amazing too—it'd be nice if you traveled with us later."
"But he still has a farm to run, so he can't," Serena said, resting her chin in her hands as she started thinking about her Contest preparations again.
"Hey, what would happen if I used it in a Gym battle?" Abigail asked, squatting in the corner and holding the frog.
"Even though it's an unseen Pokémon—since it is a Pokémon, it should be allowed to participate, right?" Bonnie said, taking Squishy out of her satchel. "Squishy can participate too."
"Zy?" The Core form Zygarde in Bonnie's arms let out a lazy cry.
"What did it say, Ron?" Bonnie turned her head and asked.
"It said it's best not to." Ron listened for a mont and unexpectedly caught a glimpse of what happened when Bonnie brought this Zygarde to its first Gym battle. He fell silent for a mont before adding, "Sa for the frog—yeah, it's best not to."
"Okay." Bonnie nodded.
Hearing this, Abigail next to her also put the frog down with a bit of disappointnt.
Ron couldn't help but explain: "Its—uh, skills are a bit special—it can actually kill the opponent's Pokémon."
"It's that terrifying?" Bonnie stood up in fright, hugging Squishy and backing away a bit.
As a Legendary Pokémon, feeling that it had been looked down upon, Squishy suddenly jumped out of Bonnie's arms.
"Squishy, what are you doing?" Bonnie asked.
"Zy!" Squishy stared at the frog in Abigail's hands and cried out again.
Ron, who could hear what it was saying, fell silent for a mont.
The Frog summoned by the Frog Egg was just a little bit special. It was special in the fact that it was entirely a conceptual, god-tier item. It could devour anything it perceived as an enemy.
Although he wasn't sure if this absolute rule applied to Pokémon, Ron still opened his mouth to dissuade it: "You'd better not, uh—Zygarde."
Ron deliberately avoided using the nickna "Squishy," but this kind of phrasing instead made Zygarde feel that it was being slighted.
"Zygarde!"
"Then let's give it a try?" Abigail said, excitedly placing the frog in front of Zygarde.
