The mbers of the Sacred Church, once they lost their cohesion, had beco ideal targets to be defeated one by one.
However, after Cain got rid of two people, the remaining mbers seed to sense so kind of threat. Realizing that their safety was no longer guaranteed, they all went into hiding.
But from the very beginning, Cain's target had not been them. He had simply run into so of them along the way, and since it did not require much effort, he did not mind increasing that kind of gain.
The reason they had co to that rocky area was because the person Cain wanted to see was there.
Looking at the scenery before them, a smile appeared on Cain's face, and he directly led Brad and Catherine inside.
At that very mont, deep within the rocky field, there were four people gathered. If any mber of the Sacred Church were there, they would surely recognize them: they were the forr mbers of the Sacred Church who originally lived in that place.
Although they were called mbers of the Sacred Church, in reality they could not be considered part of it in the strict sense. At the very least, they could not mingle with people like Marcus and his group. Only because of the external threat of the Sacred Church and the influence accumulated over so many years did they not dare to act out of line.
But now that the Sacred Church on the continent had collapsed, there was no longer any possibility of cooperation among them; the fact that they did not attack one another was already a blessing.
They, however, were different. Although Cain had eliminated two people, they had lived together for twenty-five years. Before the newcors arrived, there had already been two elders in charge of leading them, and the relationship among the six had always been quite good.
While the others were filled with mutual suspicion and hostility, these four united imdiately.
At that mont, the combined strength of the four could be considered one of the most powerful on the entire continent.
When a person becos strong, their desires inevitably increase. And they were not fools; they had witnessed with their own eyes the disintegration of the Sacred Church.
It was inevitable that their hearts would be stirred.
The four present used Fire-, Water-, Dark-, and Psychic-type Pokémon respectively, corresponding to Flareon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, and Espeon.
Together with the two who had previously used Leafeon and Jolteon, there were a total of six Eeveelutions, capable of combining to break the barrier of the continent's central mountain.
To be honest, living there, they did not really know that the combination of six Eeveelutions could break that barrier. Most certainly, so special additional elents were still needed, but Marcus had never revealed them.
"Ragnar, do you think that Number Three is reliable? Can we trust him?" asked the youngest man, accompanied by Umbreon, to the elderly man who carried Flareon.
Although the two who used Flareon and Vaporeon were the strongest in that place, unlike Marcus and Tony, they were very clear that the main person in charge of everything was that old man called Ragnar. It was a habit they had cultivated over many years.
Ragnar, the Fire-type user; Cedric, the Water-type user; Dusk, the Dark-type user; and Lyra, the only woman, a Psychic-type user.
Their original nas had been abandoned ever since they entered the continent. Even Jacob and the forr Jolteon user whom Cain had encountered before had similar nas. But with their deaths, those details were no longer important.
Although Ragnar used Fire-type Pokémon, his personality had nothing to do with the impetuosity of flas. Instead, he was more like a kind neighborhood grandfather.
Gently stroking the beard he had carefully grown to barely a finger's length—a small personal habit—he said, "That Number Three is not simple. On the day those events occurred, you did not pay attention to him, but I was observing him both consciously and unconsciously."
"At first glance he seems like an ordinary person, but he acts decisively. He answered Marcus's questions very frankly, and when he decided to leave, he did not hesitate at all. And most importantly... when Marcus and Tony were about to clash, it was his Pokémon that launched the first attack, forcing the two of them to fight."
Hearing this, the other three showed surprise on their faces. They truly had not noticed that detail; they had not expected Ragnar to have seen it.
"Then... that Number Three really is not simple. Daring to make moves under Marcus's gaze... that takes a lot of courage," Dusk murmured, as if rediscovering that Number Three.
"Hmph, and not only that. When he left, he dared to ntally transmit to that he had a way to break the mountain barrier, and asked us to wait for him here."
"Do you think soone who dares to contact at that ti can be an ordinary person?" Astonishnt also appeared on Ragnar's face. He did not know what thod Number Three had, but from an observer's perspective, the more he thought about it, the more extraordinary he seed.
"The only force that can be gathered now is us four. Number Three surely knows that we would unite, and yet he still dares to summon us here ten days later. That shows that he has full confidence, as well as the strength and courage to face us," Cedric added.
After Ragnar's words, no one dared to underestimate Cain, that so-called Number Three.
Thinking about it carefully, Cain's actions on the mountaintop were actually hard to hide. Anyone with even a little power of observation would end up suspecting him.
And do not forget that the dead were Number Two, Number Four, and Number Six. In terms of distance, as long as Number Three wanted to, he could have encountered any of them.
Who said that the killer of Number Two had to be Number Four? Or that the killer of Number Six had to be Number Five?
And what role did Cain, Number Three, play in all of this?
Moreover, in the end he had decided to contact the four of them. Obviously, he was doing so with complete confidence: either he was a fool, or he had absolute certainty in his own strength.
In the eyes of Ragnar and the others, could that mysterious Number Three really be an idiot?
Evidently, no.
Therefore, for safety's sake, the four of them had already arrived there three days earlier, with the purpose of inspecting the surroundings and avoiding falling into any trap set by Number Three.
If Number Three had not prepared any trap, they would not mind preparing one themselves and ambushing him.
In that way, they might be able to probe the true strength and real extent of that Number Three.
Soone capable of hiding his power within an organization as dangerous as the Sacred Church, surrounded by wolves and tigers, undoubtedly had hidden intentions.
In the eyes of Ragnar and the others, Cain, that so-called Number Three, must have entered the continent with his own plans. It never crossed their minds to consider the absurd possibility that the real Number Three had already been replaced.
Just as they were discussing all this, Cain had also finally entered the scanning range of their psychic powers.
