Now reading: Chapter 523: Fragment of Groudon’s Armor from Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom (Re-Upload), a Fantasy novel by GoldenDragonKing.

"So these are fossils of ancient Pokémon, aning these two pieces have incredible value..." Steven said as he listened to Cain.

However, Cain shook his head and replied, "Those fossils aren’t of much use to , and I can’t revive them. You can have them, as long as I can keep the red stone in the middle—that’s enough for ."

Cain managed to suppress the surprise in his heart.

From the very beginning, Cain had ordered his system to scan the three stones.

The two fossils were quickly identified, but the small red stone in the center, roughly palm-sized, took much longer to scan, with no imdiate results.

However, just as Steven requested the fossils, the system’s results appeared before Cain.

Item Na: Fragnt of Groudon’s Armor (Incomplete)

Description: A fragnt of Groudon’s armor, the legendary Pokémon, left behind after a battle. It contains the mysterious energy of the legendary Pokémon.

Functions:

1. Allows the Pokémon holding it to perceive the earth energy contained within, enhancing the Pokémon’s control over Ground-type energy.

2. Absorbing its energy can rapidly increase a Pokémon’s power, but over-absorption may cause ntal disturbances and trigger Groudon’s fierce nature.

Note: Groudon, the god of the earth, also has notable control over Fire-type energy. Fire-type Pokémon can also enhance their mastery of Fire energy by holding this item.

This small red stone was a fragnt of Groudon’s armor, one of the three legendary Pokémon of the Hoenn region, known as the god of the earth!

Groudon!

In terms of combat capability, Cain estimated that very few Pokémon could rival Groudon, aside from Arceus. At best, so could temporarily hold it off but not completely defeat it.

The title "God of the Earth" wasn’t for nothing.

The abnormal behavior of Carupt earlier was likely due to it absorbing energy from this armor fragnt.

In his eagerness to make Carupt reach the quasi-elite level quickly, Butler had made it absorb too much energy at once.

Since Carupt is both a Fire- and Ground-type Pokémon, its characteristics perfectly matched those of primal Groudon.

Groudon has two forms. In its primal form, Groudon possesses both Ground and Fire types. After its long slumber and awakening, Groudon retained only the Ground type because its energy had not fully recovered.

This was knowledge Cain rembered.

This red stone must have been a fragnt of Groudon’s armor from one of its battles in its primal form.

With the energy from just an armor fragnt, Carupt was able to reach the quasi-elite level!

This also explained why so of the Pokémon Cain had encountered exhibited a state of rage. It was likely not the work of Team Magma but rather Butler experinting with this stone.

Butler probably didn’t even realize that this stone ca from Groudon’s armor.

What was Team Magma’s goal? Although the League was unaware, Cain knew it very well.

Their aim was to find Groudon, believing that with Groudon, they could rule the world.

If the legendary gods didn’t reawaken, using Groudon’s energy to expand landmasses would make world domination possible.

Maxie had always been searching for sothing related to Groudon, but what he could never have imagined was that a fragnt of his prized objective had fallen into the hands of a mid-ranking Team Magma mber.

And the most ironic part was that Butler hadn’t even realized the object belonged to Groudon, using it rely as a tool to strengthen his Pokémon.

The true power of this Groudon fragnt had been completely wasted!

If Team Magma had obtained this piece, they would surely have advanced their plans rapidly, and Groudon’s resurrection would have been just around the corner.

But now, this Groudon fragnt was in the hands of Cain and Steven.

While Steven was clearly more interested in the two fossils, Cain would keep the fragnt of Groudon’s armor.

How could he not be excited?

The greatest benefit of this fragnt was that it would allow a Pokémon to gradually improve its control over Ground-type energy. Additionally, if suitable, it could also enhance control over Fire-type energy.

The Pokémon most suited to carrying this fragnt was Larvitar.

Larvitar already had remarkable proficiency in manipulating Ground-type energy, surpassing Cain’s expectations. If it carried this fragnt, how much further could its control improve?

Cain couldn’t even imagine it.

To Cain, this small red fragnt was the most valuable item for him.

As for the fossils, Cain didn’t have the ans to revive them, nor could he guarantee the quality of the resulting Pokémon.

Additionally, earning Steven’s gratitude was a worthwhile benefit.

"This red stone... doesn’t seem to be just an ordinary rock, does it? Cain, do you know what it’s for?" Steven asked curiously.

He needed to understand the stone’s function to assess whether there was a significant value difference and to properly compensate Cain for his loss.

Cain responded calmly, "I’m not entirely sure, but this item seems to have fallen from so Pokémon. By carrying it, a Pokémon might slightly improve its strength or potential."

Hearing this, Steven looked a bit conflicted.

Based on Cain’s description, the red stone didn’t seem to hold much value, and he was taking two ancient Pokémon fossils. The difference in value seed a bit unfair.

"Don’t worry about it. You love stones, and your family is probably the only one with the resources to revive these fossils. It’s better if you keep them," Cain said, patting him on the shoulder, appearing completely unconcerned.

But the more carefree Cain acted, the more uncomfortable Steven felt.

"Cain, these fossils truly fascinate , so I’ll accept them with gratitude. I promise to compensate you properly," Steven said with a determined look.

He knew he would have to talk to the elders of his family.

Cain had captured an Aron, but its quality didn’t seem exceptional.

If he could gain the elders’ support, perhaps they could help improve Aron’s quality for Cain.

That way, Steven could return the favor to Cain.

Although he knew it would be difficult, he hoped the elders of the Stone family would support him.

The Stone family had long refrained from sharing this type of knowledge with outsiders, so Steven couldn’t be sure he would succeed.
