Green stood in the center of the garden maze, her brown eyes sharp and unyielding.
At her feet lay the unconscious forms of the Ancient Kingdom commander's Scyther and Houndoom. Her Venusaur and Blastoise stood tall, having dispatched the two interdiate-level threats with ruthless efficiency.
"Too easy," Green muttered, though her posture remained tense.
The commander, clad in his heavy silver armor, didn't look panicked. Instead, he began to clap slowly, the tallic sound echoing ominously in the quiet maze.
"Not bad for a child," he said, his voice dripping with condescension. "But playti is over. You've forced to bring out the vanguard."
He unclasped two heavily reinforced Ultra Balls from his waist and tossed them forward.
*BOOM!*
The ground shook as two massive, imposing figures materialized. A towering Electivire crackling with violent yellow electricity, and a Magmortar whose arms burned with a heat that instantly singed the surrounding hedges.
Green pulled out her Pokédex, quickly scanning the two new threats.
---
Pokémon: Electivire
Level: 49
Potential: A
Pokémon: Magmortar
Level: 49
Potential: A
---
Green's breath hitched. 'Level 49... they are at the absolute peak of the Advanced level!'
Her Venusaur and Blastoise had only recently broken through to the Advanced stage. A level gap of nearly eight levels in this tier was massive.
"Electivire, Thunder Punch! Magmortar, Fire Blast!" the commander roared.
"Blasty, Rapid Spin! Saur, Protect!" Green shouted urgently.
But the speed and power of the peak Advanced-level Pokémon were too much. Electivire moved like a bolt of lightning, intercepting Blastoise mid-spin with a devastating, high-voltage Thunder Punch.
The sheer electrical output shattered Blastoise's montum, sending the heavy turtle crashing through a stone wall.
At the sa ti, Magmortar unleashed a blinding, star-shaped Fire Blast that slamd into Venusaur's Protect barrier, cracking it instantly.
Green gritted her teeth.
She tried to use her trademark feints and tactical maneuvers, but the overwhelming suppression of power was absolute. After taking a direct hit from a follow-up Thunderbolt, her Blastoise groaned and collapsed, completely unconscious.
Venusaur was pushed back, panting heavily, barely able to stand against the sheer heat radiating from Magmortar.
Green took a step back, her mind racing for an escape route. 'Dammit...'
"Need a hand?"
A calm, familiar voice cut through the roaring flas.
Green turned her head. Stepping out from the crushed foliage to her left was Red, his cap pulled low, his Charizard letting out a booming roar that shook the air.
"Tch. Don't think I'm doing this for you," another voice scoffed from the right. Blue strode onto the battlefield, a confident smirk on his face as he threw a Poké Ball. With a heavy thud, his own Blastoise materialized, its cannons locking onto the Electivire.
Green blinked, then let out a sharp, relieved laugh. "Took you guys long enough."
The commander's eyes narrowed behind his visor. "More whelps. No matter. Rhyperior, crush them!"
He threw a third Poké Ball, summoning a massive, rock-plated Rhyperior at Level 49 to match them three-on-three.
"Blue," Red said, his voice steady and commanding. "I'll set up the weather. Let use Sunny Day."
Blue frowned. "Are you crazy? A sun domain will dry out my Blastoise's water-type energy!"
"It won't," Red replied without looking back. "Sunny Day benefits Green's Venusaur directly. My Charizard will control the fire energy in the air so it doesn't affect your side of the field."
"Tch. Fine."
"Charizard, Sunny Day!"
Charizard roared, shooting a condensed orb of pure fire-type energy high into the sky. The clouds parted, and a brilliant, searing sunlight washed over the battlefield.
But just as Red said, the heat was localized. Charizard exhibited terrifying mastery over his fire-type energy, drawing the scorching ambient temperature away from Blue's Blastoise, ensuring the water-type remained cloaked in its own humid, high-pressure aura, while Venusaur's flower blood wildly under the intense solar rays.
"Now!" Red yelled.
"Saur, Solar Beam!" Green shouted.
"Blastoise, Hydro Pump!" Blue roared.
"Charizard, Fire Blast!" Red commanded.
The three Kanto starters unleashed their strongest attacks in perfect unison.
Under the blinding sun, Venusaur didn't need to charge. A massive beam of pure solar energy erupted from its flower, alongside Charizard's fire blast. Blue's Blastoise, entirely unhindered by the heat, fired a dual-barreled, spiraling Hydro Pump.
The combined might of the three prodigies crashed into each of the commander's Pokémon.
BOOOOOOM!
The explosion was deafening. Electivire, Magmortar, and Rhyperior were violently pushed back, their heavy bodies leaving deep trenches in the earth as they struggled to hold the line against the overwhelming, synergistic assault.
The commander gritted his teeth as his Pokémon were pushed to the brink. Then, a dark, chilling smile spread across his face.
"To think re children possess such combat awareness," the commander said, his voice ringing out over the blast.
"I am glad I encountered you three today. If you were left alive to grow, you would undoubtedly beco a major threat to the Kingdom in the future."
He reached into his armor, pulling out two sleek, black Poké Balls.
"But your journey ends here."
He tossed the balls.
When they opened, the very gravity in the area seed to multiply. A colossal, iron-jawed Steelix and a terrifyingly fast Garchomp materialized.
The suffocating, crushing pressure of two Pseudo-King level Pokémon instantly slamd into Red, Blue, and Green. The air grew so dense it was hard to breathe. Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard instinctively took a step back, their instincts screaming at the sheer, insurmountable gap in power.
The situation had instantly turned dire.
But Blue just smirked.
"Looks like it's my turn to steal the show."
He didn't look panicked at all. Slowly, deliberately, he reached to the back of his belt and unclasped an Ultra Ball.
"When dealing with monsters," Blue said, his eyes flashing with utter arrogance. "You bring your own."
He threw the ball.
ROOOOOOOOAR!
A towering, armor-plated Godzilla-like beast crashed onto the field. The ground shattered beneath its feet.
A Level 59 Tyranitar.
The mont it appeared, a violent sandstorm threatened to whip up, but Tyranitar forcefully suppressed its own ability with a low growl, obeying Blue's silent command to not hinder his allies. The sheer, overwhelming dark and rock-type energy it radiated imdiately completely crushed the auras of the two Pseudo-Kings.
Red's eyes widened in genuine surprise.
"When did you catch that?"
"I didn't," Blue replied, his smirk fading into a cold, dangerous glare. "It's borrowed for a few months."
Blue adjusted his wristband, his voice dropping. "After that incident at the Rocket base... I swore I wasn't going to let my guard down ever again. Not against scum like this."
Green's jaw dropped. "Are you kidding ?! Then why the hell did you wait so long to use it?! We wouldn't be struggling so much if you had just thrown that out from the start!"
Blue crossed his arms, looking entirely unapologetic. "It's a last resort. A true trainer handles his battles with his own power."
"Tyranitar," Blue commanded, pointing at the Steelix and Garchomp. "Sweep the trash."
With a deafening roar, Tyranitar surged forward like a runaway freight train. It slamd its massive claws into the Garchomp and shoulder-checked the Steelix, using brute, unstoppable physical force to launch both Pseudo-Kings through the hedges and away from the group.
Blue walked after his titan, not looking back. "I'll handle those two. The rest is on you."
With Blue and his borrowed monster gone, Red and Green were left facing the commander and his three heavily battered, but still standing, Advanced-level Pokémon.
Red tugged the brim of his cap down, casting a shadow over his sharp, intensely focused eyes.
With Blue's Blastoise no longer on the field, Charizard didn't need to tightly control and restrict the ambient heat anymore.
"Charizard," Red said, his voice quiet, but carrying a heavy, burning resolve.
"Full capacity."
ROAR!
The fla on Charizard's tail erupted into a much deeper orange. The Sunny Day effect in the sky flared to its absolute maximum limit. The remaining moisture in the air vaporized instantly, and the ground began to scorch and crack under the sheer, unadulterated heat radiating from the fire-type.
Red looked at the commander, his competitive spirit burning brighter than the sun above them.
He was getting serious.
